I’d give Blue Cow 4.5 stars if I could. Almost everything about it is great, I’m just not totally sold on all their instructors. The good stuff: — some(most?) of the instructors are wonderful — Clare is definitely our favorite, and we had a sub we liked a lot for a weekend class — the front desk staff is super friendly and helpful — the space is beautiful, with big studios and plenty of space to relax before and after class — nice changing/shower facilities and free lockers — free yoga mats — free water and tea — class packs available that offer a good discount over drop-in rates The slightly less than perfect: — a couple instructors have not been so hot — a little too reticent with instruction, or a bit bossy/peremptory, and one was downright irritable. maybe she was having a bad day, but that’s not what I’m looking for in a yoga instructor. — the location, while central, is a bit odd, in the basement down an alley in the City — class packs expire quickly, so you can’t drop in every few weeks This shouldn’t make you think that Blue Cow is anything less than great, but if I could have a 6-month expiration on a 10-class pack and only had the really good instructors from now on, I’d bump them up to 5 stars.

Blue cow yoga is a space of complete peace as soon as one walks through the door, and friendly atmosphere stripped bare of the sometimes stuffy and alienating hippie vibe. It’s a haven out of the day to day stream of hectic activity of the City. Everything has been designed to make it easy, pleasant and accessible for busy City people. Staff soon know your name and sign you in when you rush in for one of their many and diverse fab yoga or pilates classes. A smile and a personal touch to boot! Whatever you look you are likely to find it there. A dynamic class that will get those cores and legs strengthened whilst having a bit of a giggle, check. Or maybe a relaxing class to unwind the mind and body, check. A class to deepen your knowledge of specific postures under the expert guidance of Ashtangi master Charlie, check. A basics class to dip your toe into yoga or make sure your know your foundations, check. And so so much more. Teachers are friendly, helpful and unpretentious, and experienced. Mats, props and all you might need for the class or to get ready to go out or to work is there, so you can just pop along! And there is also a great team of therapists who offer a wide range of treatments and will take the time to get to know you so they can give you a truly bespoke session. On offer: deep tissue, sports massage, Indian head massage, Lymphatic drainage, Myofascial, Reiki, Shiatsu, Thai yoga massage… A great place for its atmosphere, the quality of the classes and treatments, and getting out of the busy City to find time to breathe!

I had a great massage here in Blue Cow Yoga( ) . I always arrived here early as possible, after a very long working hours. I came here to relax and to take away my stress. BCG was one of the place that I prefer to choose in dealing massage service, I like the way of their treatment. In terms of their services, I feel like the boss, they treat what you want. I choose to went here every time I feel stressed, if another massage services that I also choses are have many costumers.

Ever since I left Canada, I’ve missed studio yoga. I do gym yoga for various reasons and it is just not the same, there’s no real challenge, no focus and half the time you are distracted by the kick-boxing class next door. But Blue Cow Yoga is a deliciously proper studio. Right in the middle of the city, it’s in a fantastic location. Spacious and very North American. You take your shoes off when you enter, help yourself to free tea or water and pad round to the changing rooms, where they have all amenities including hair straighteners. This I like! Also the abundance of lockers to keep your valuables safe are really appreciated. It’s a very chill environment, they get the importance of focus and a peaceful vibe. I came for an inversion workshop and was delighted with the teacher and the experience. Mollie, the teacher, was super patient and explained everything very clearly. While she made it look elegant and easy herself, she took the time with all the beginners to make them feel comfortable. The room was very spacious with lots of white wall space to practice against, and plenty of maps, bolsters and blocks. I am definitely planning on coming back for their free yoga week for newcomers and I’d love to try a treatment too, once I recover from this inversion workout!

TREATMENTS. Sorry to shout. But, seriously… the treatments. I have not been for yoga yet(but I will!) — and had signed up for updates via their newsletter. As luck would have it last week I received an email from them about 25 quid Bespoke Treatments. Answer to my prayers, little BCY — answer to my prayers. After being slammed and shoved into planes, delayed in airports, working from bed and overall stress levels escalating, I needed a massage. A good, deep massage. And this is what I got. Which will have hooked me forever, so this marketing campaign to get folks into the studio worked. I’ll be a faithful follower of Zoe, who whipped my knotted back and shoulders into shape. Really, very talented. Will be back for the yoga and the massage and the acupuncture — and whatever else really? Really! It’s a beautiful lower level space that feels tranquil and serene amidst the craziness of the City. It’s clean, large, spacious, and the staff is friendly without being intrusive. Will return and update about the yoga — but for now, I can say that I’m feeling mighty fine and relaxed due to that bespoke beatdown. Ahhhhhh.

I usually don’t trek out to the city. well for anything but a yogi friend told me that they’re running a 1 week free for new members promo — hey it’s worth going out a few tube stops for. It’s very unexpected to find such a zen’d out place in the city. When I first rocked up to the entrance, the stairs kinda creeped me out just a little but after you step into that door… it’s wow! so spacious! There’s a nice little area to sit around and have tea or water if you’re there a little early for class. They’ll go through the drill with you but you check your shoes and coat at reception then the changing rooms are around the corner. Don’t worry about bringing a lock but do bring a £ coin for the lockers(which you’ll get back later). You also don’t need to worry about toiletries as it’s well stocked. I love that they have such a wide variety of classes. I tried 2 different flow classes + jivamukti(like a flow class but slower… means painful). The studios are gorgeous! Even though it’s on the LGF, it still catches some natural light. Not sure if it’s only the classes I went to but it wasn’t mat to mat packed, which was nice not to feel like you might over stretch your head into someone’s bum! There are plenty of blocks and straps as well. They also run a bunch of workshops as well as promoting a number of retreats. Ommmmmmmmm…
