Cheap & cheerful. ok maybe not cheerful so much but the food is good and great value. We had a whole lot of plates to share for a group of 6 with a couple of bottles of wine for under £20. Dips & pitta — the tzatziki(always my favourite) was amazing. They had this spiral pastry thing with melted cheese inside which was really tasty(wish I’d had seconds). Chicken shish and chicken betyi were also good(& good for sharing).

AVOIDATALLCOSTS!!! This place has absolutely ZERO redeeming qualities… I trotted here for a quick bite mid-afternoon, hoping to get a quick fill in my belly before heading back to work… Plonked myself down and for what seemed like an age, the waitress finally comes over and takes my order. Absolutely no sign of enthusiasm or even a hint of a smile… Fine by me, I’m ravenous, and I’m *ahem* far too engrossed with my work to even notice… The plate arrives — 3 – 4 chicken wings, split at the joint into 2 pieces each(meaning 8 pieces in total). It sits on the pitta bread and the pathetic looking salad is placed on the side. The chicken is dry dry dry(needs some bicarb to soften it), and salad mostly consisted of wilted iceberg lettuce(that is brown on the edges), a few small chunks of tomatoes(for colour, I presume), and drenched in some kind of vinegarette. It didn’t look too appetising, but I must admit, marginally edible, so in response to my grumbling tum I proceeded to wolf it down… here comes the bad bit… Bad Bit Part 1… THEREWASBLOOD — THATWASSTILLDRIPPING — INMYCHICKEN! At first, I wasn’t too sure if it was the ketchup, but then I remembered, I didn’t order any ketchup. So just to double-check, I pressed my fork on the half eaten chicken and saw the blood oozing out of the chicken… Bad Bit Part 2… I beckoned the waiter to come over — and pointed out the blood in my chicken. He then YELLED at me «YOUFINISHEDYOURMEALANDNOWYOUTELLMETHERE’S BLOODINTHECHICKEN?!»(no lie). I was completely shocked and mortified that someone would accuse me of trying to cheat them out of a £7 meal. Rule No 1: If you serve undercooked food to your customers(that shouldn’t in any circumstances be undercooked, such as chicken) you run the risk of being sued should the customer falls ill. Accidents do happen, and if an accident did happen, a simple apology would suffice. But for a 6 ft tall man to act aggressively towards a 5 ft 2″ woman after you had given chicken with blood in, and to then accuse her of trying to cheat you out of a £7 meal is just NOT on!!! Bad Bit Part 3… After the episode, the original waitress appeared and said«sometimes it can happen». Okaaay… So sometimes you get chicken with blood in… how about cooking the chicken on a LOW heat over a longer period of time, so you don’t have to worry about burning the outside, yet ensuring the inside is cooked? I just didn’t fancy hanging around as the waiter’s reaction had left a really bad taste in my mouth, and I just wanted to get the hell out of there… After the incident, I could NOT believe that they didn’t even have the decency to offer me a discount on the meal and charged me full price! Sure, even with a hefty discount, it would make minimal difference on a £7 meal, but the audacity to charge full price when you could have potentially poisoned someone is beyond a joke.

Holy cow, yum! This place was great! I ordered the Falafel and also a portion of bulgar rice. I was blown away by how flavourful and delicious everything on my plate was. I got to try a bite of my boyfriend’s dish, which was Chicken Beyti, and I had major food envy! You have to try this place! It was so yummy, fresh and delicious!

Great local place to hang out with some mates. Was here few times already and its great. The atmosphere and decorations are decent. The food is always nice, prepared with fresh products. A wide variety of dishes and drinks in the menu. The staff are polite and kind and the prices are affordable.

I loved this place! I cannot stress enough how much I don’t usually like Greek and Turkish food and how I have to have my arm twisted to go in anywhere that focuses on bread, oil and chickpeas. I was feeling more flexible than usual and decided that I would be able to find something I liked on the menu, since my friend was so set on going here. Well, it was a revelation! First, the service was lovely — it was a very quiet lunchtime, so we had quite a lot of attention from the very friendly guy who was serving. We were also starving, so ordered hummus and some yoghurt and cucumber/mint thing with flat bread to start with. It was LOVELY! Also, my friend ordered fried cheese,(equivalent of haloumi) which made me physically recoil at the thought of it, but to be brave, I tried it. And it was really nice — really firm, salty and a lovely deep flavour. I never thought I’d write that about cooked cheese! We chose main courses from the lunchtime special menu — I had the chicken, and my friend had the lamb. I only eat lamb when I don’t know I’m eating it(since I had a pet lamb when I was young). But, again, I was brave and tried it and wow, it was delicious! The chicken was also fantastic — really nicely cooked, wrapped in bread with a very light yoghurt and chilli sauce and a lovely large salad. I had to admit to having completely changed my mind about several things — Turkish food, fried cheese and lamb. Can’t wait to go back!

Lovely Turkish food! I had the mixed grill with chips, a beautifully prepared salad and a wicked tasting garlic sauce. The meat was juicy, tender and plenty full. Very well priced and the service was top notch! Its my local restaurant so I go as often as possible. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a quailty mixed grill. Well done Hisar! Keep it up ;)

This place is a real gem; no nonsense Turkish food to eat in or takeaway. Truely some of the best Turkish food I’ve had outside Turkey; for takeaway, the lamb shish with«rice»(actually bulgar wheat) is stellar. If you’re eating in, consider the quail if it’s still on the menu. You won’t leave here hungry, but rather with the warm glow of Anatolian soul food inside you.

If you’re looking for a great Turkish restaurant then this is the place to go. The food is delicious! The lamb beyti with bulgar wheat is one of the best items on the menu! The wait staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The wine list contains a lot of Turkish bottles which are very nice indeed. Definitely a great place to go for a relaxed meal. They also have a take away place next door for late night eating or on the go food!

This is a nice restaurant where they cook the food in front of you on a huge barbeque. The portions are huge and the food is really tasty. Staff are friendly. The tables are a bit too close together but other than that its a nice different place to eat on Lordship Lane.
