Letter I send to the company (updated):
Dear HSBC:
I have a history of more than 25 years with your bank, high credit score, and all credit cards and select credit debt payed on or before is du. For the past year and half, I see HSBC bank deteriorating in US. It is not longer addressing the needs of the common normal hard worker but instead have been closing branches giving us little choices for other what it used to be «competitive» banking, reducing access and services, including customer service and worst of all, adding ridiculous fees. My hard earned cash may be too small for you to care. The drop that spill the glass is when I just noticed. I have several charges for just one overdraft that triggered several charges in my Select credit. I have a transaction fee of $ 10.00, a finance charge of $ 11.45 and another of $ 1.91 (last one you bother to reimburse). The Overdraft didn’t used to charge fees until after payment due then later the charge was very low. Honestly, it is a pity and you have become as bad if not worst than the Chase bank which I used to think as the worst bank to save your hard earn cash in.
Is this how we have to pay for the investment mistakes you made? Have you change your banking business to ONLY cater to international established rich business and not average hard working customers? Please make this clear to me and to all us suckers loosing our savings in your bank. I need to know If I am not longer your target customer before I continue being penalized for it.

HSBC’s special contribution to the canon of sharp lending practices involves its creative calculation of due dates. Here’s how that works.
Let’s suppose your payment is due on the 15^th. You might imagine such a payment, if made on the 14^th, would be considered paid on time. That’s the way things work with every lender that I know of that does business in the United States (I live in Seattle, Washington).
That is not the way things work when you do business with HSBC. No. In this den of fucking thieves, things work quite differently.
If you have an HSBC credit card, and you make a payment due on the 15^th later than the 13^th, then you must pay an «expedited payment processing fee» to avoid a late fee. That’s right. That means that the payment HSBC says is due on the 15^th is actually due on the 13^th. And if a bank says a payment is due on the 15^th, and that payment is actually due on the 13^th, then that would seem to be a deceptive lending practice — if not technically, then at least as the phrase «deceptive lending practice» is ordinarily understood.
This kind of sportive anal roughhousing may be routine at the sadistic little English boys’ schools where the periwigged, powdered panjandrums at this institution learned thrift, industry, and the lash. But among horny-​handed sons of the soil like me, it’s just the kind of low-​rent shakedown you’d expect from the goddamn corner pawn shop.
May I appeal to HSBC, as a bank with a sense of common decency, to immediately amend this low-​rent practice?
Yeah, I know: the answer’s in the question. In the meantime, as I see it, I have two options.
Option 1: The next time I get a credit card application, get ketchup and smear it liberally on the application. When the ketchup dries, it will bear a striking resemblance to excrement. I then draw an arrow to the dried ketchup stain and write «SCAT» and put that application in an envelope and send it in.
The genius of this scheme is that when enough loan processors have shuddered in polite English disgust at what they imagine to be a stool sample from my rusty, indignant ass, this venerable institution will dial down lending practices that would embarrass Meyer Lansky.
The downside? I’d probably get locked up.
So, Option 2: just don’t do business with brigands.

I’m writing this review to HSBC Bank plc headquarters in London (at 8 Canada Square, London E14 5HQ) because it involves my experience with the bank to bank communication and customer service between Malaysia and the USA, so I think it’s appropriate to post it here. I will also post a similar review to the HSBC Bank USA, N.A. in Buffalo, NY. Unfortuanately, I couldn’t find a Malaysia location for HSBC on Unilocal so I’ll have to limit the reviews to London, UK and Buffalo, NY.
My friend in Malaysia needed to send me money to pay me back for postage for some college recommendation letters I sent overseas for him. We both decided to use HSBC for him to pay me back. His branch in Malaysia told him all the overseas charges would be paid for by the sender (him). In reality, HSBC Bank, USA charged me $ 15 for an incoming wire free.
HSBC is an international bank group. Their ability to understand the charges branch to branch, and thus their customer service, needs improvement. Their slogan, «The world’s local bank» was not lived up to for this situation, in my opinion. Their legal «terms and charges» paperwork has all the charges, but at the time of the transaction, the bank branch may or may not fully explain them to you.
If you are going to use HSBC for a wire transfer, make sure to contact the individual HSBC bank branches beforehand AT BOTH ENDS to fully understand the charges for the entire transaction.
I am still giving HSBC a three-​star «A-​OK» rating because they were willing and open to communicate with me an my Malaysian friend on this issue. They offer low fees for wire transfers, and their interest rates are competitive.
