The food wasn’t great. Everything was bland. To me a restaurant that does more than one cuisine is not a good sign although Malaysian and Indonesian food can overlap to some level, this didn’t prove me wrong. The portion size and the pricing is okay. The service was okay, but sometimes it takes effort to get their attention.

Very good Indonesian that does excellent food and a particularly good set lunch menu. A bit out of the way in Colindale NW9, and service is slow, but if you’re in the area and not in a rush it’s highly recommended!

The first time i ate Indonesian was in Amsterdam and i fell in love with it. Jakarta serves a combination of Indonesian, Malay and Thai cuisine. It is slightly off the beaten track, but I can definitely confirm it is worth making the effort to visit for a lunch or dinner. The restaurant has traditional décor and Music giving the customer an traditional and authentic dining experience. This place was recommended by a friend, and I wouldn’t usually go out of my way to go to dine around Colindale, but I really wanted to find a nice Indonesian and it turned out to be great, I am really glad that I went. The quality of the food is excellent, with a wide range of cuisine, be prepared if you have a delicate stomach, the curries can be quite spicy. The food is very fresh, and the décor is typical of its culture. This place is very popular so it is worth ringing ahead to book. The restaurant also has Lunch specials all week.

I salivate now thinking of eating at Jakarta. This small and delightfully decorated restaurant is pretty much in the middle of nowhere but is so good if you do make it out to NW9, you’ll not be sorry. I was a firm Jakarta fan after trying the tofu satay, which was just like chicken satay, but you guessed it.vegetarian. I can not say enough about this place. Start off with the complimentary prawn crackers, get a satay(meat or otherwise) then try the Gado-Gado for a light meal, or a curry or stir fry dish for a heavier one. They also do a mean coconut rice for an little extra treat.

Jakarta is an Indonesian/Malaysian restaurant in Colindale in North west London. It is slightly off the beaten track, but I can definitely confirm it is worth making the effort to visit for a lunch or dinner. The quality of the food is excellent, with a wide range of cuisine from the south east asian region, although the curries can be quite spicy. I would particularly recommend the chicken satay, which is out of this world. This place is very popular so it is worth ringing ahead to book.
