My favourite venue in London. Hidden, lovely community around it and outstanding gigs with a huge variety of music throughout the week.

A rare find — atmospheric candle lit scene, old instruments bedeck the walls — just everything you’d want from a place — fantastic music too! May this place live long.

The Cable street complex reminds me of old soho or the old east-end, untouched by the savage, but well groomed claws of the commercial world that’d have a place like this machined into a tesco’s local… the complex as a whole is cavernous with many stairwells, nooks and crannies, builders, cabbies, squatters, muscians… so I suppose having a place that looks like a Moth’s buffet called«Jamboree» is more than appropriate. the people there are cool the atmosphere is nice. It is like a lot of the places I like to go to these days, not perfect by a long… long stretch but I couldn’t say that that fact was a detracting feature of the bar. I have been there twice, having asked a friend who’d actually been there the previous night and looked pretty haggard 16-hours and no sleep later but could not say a bad thing… I was a little unsure about Limehouse, not been there this century so I thought I may have to do the journey… I did not regret going, the place is like a really nice circus tent/house-of-slight-horrors, vaudevillian-Edwardian themed where everything is slightly broken or no longer does the thing it was designed to do but these are endearing qualities. There was a little cave behind the«stage» I never got to adventure into but there’s always next time…

Jamboree has managed to pretty much slip under the cool radar for now which is great and possibly because it is so far off the radar in Limehouse but it’s close to the station and worth the trip. Gypsy bands here are always amazing

Lena’s review is pretty accurate. And I guess I am into the slightly strange, because I had a FANTASTIC time here. My Londoner friend took me here when I was visiting and I felt like I was transported to a night in the roaring 20s. Nothing like this in Toronto. But, then again, my friend said that there’s nothing like this in London, either. Live entertainment was great. Crowd was super laid back and attitude-free — lots of artists and musicians, but not of the pretentious hipster type. At the break between sets we were ushered out to the courtyard where there was a guy doing sideshow that involved tuba playing with fire bursts. A truly unique little gem of a place.

The first(and only) time that I went to Jamboree, some seriously bizarre things were happening. I was there for an American meet-up. It was meant to have 370 people but probably maxed out at 50 at any given time. But that’s another story. The bar was small, but well-stocked and there was also some live music playing. All I remember were very tall men wearing suspenders(those are braces, if you’re a Brit) and a whole lotta lederhosen on stage. Everyone in the audience was dancing feverishly, and everyone looked like they were having a great time. The place wasn’t air conditioned, so I had a bit of a Marilyn Monroe moment as I walked past the fan and into the bathroom area. I’m not sure I’d make it back here again(it’s a bit far) but it looked like a cozy, intimate, and fun place if you’re into the slightly strange. Apparently, there’s live music/performances every night!
