This shop does not stock cheap shoddy fabric. Joel and Sons cater to those knowing how to use fabric. Piles of stunning materials from Italian tulle, French lace, through to shirtings, Yorkshire textiles and exotic brocades and lames. Fabrics as used by Versace and other designers. This does not come cheap and that is only to be expected. Expert assistants around to help. My only gripe is that so much stock makes browsing a decided challenge. Best fabric store in London.

Wow! How can I convey the awesomeness of this place to you? Put it this way, if I told you that, for the rest of your life, you’d only be able to have clothes made from fabrics bought from Joel & Son, you’d be extremely happy. Nay, over the moon! And this applies to guys as well as girls, even though they bill themselves as a couture supplier. Unbelievable selection, you could literally spend days in here browsing, there’s such a massive selection of all types of fabrics, everything from fine silks through to cashmere jacketing. Yes, the prices are on the high side, but so is the quality, and there is reasonably priced stuff too. Mr Joel himself is a great guy, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. This is a must visit for anyone making clothes or getting clothes made for them!

A printed silk using an impressive range of colour is absolutely beautiful. Have you ever seen silk fabrics from Font, the Swiss manufacturer — then you know what I am talking about. This shop has a very well selection of the outmost exclusive fabrics. It might be a bit of a trek to go all the way to St. Johns Wood, but it is worth it. They are also open on a Saturday, so you can combine it with your weekend plans. They are the biggest couture fabric store in England and have an unrivalled choice of materials, which are updated, with an almost daily delivery of new fabrics. When you start talking to the staff, they proudly show off their knowledge and even though I could not afford buying more then 50 cm of a designer fabric, they still make me feel important. Their clientele spend £100/metre upwards… Welcome to Aladdin’s Cave!
