Iranian restaurant in London. what? I was mostly surprised when I found out about the place and went on a dinner there as soon as possible. Food was interesting and a little weird but in a good and delicious way. Friendly staff and comfortable furniture complete my positive impression.

I was here a few weeks ago with friends for a birthday party dinner, and while I wasn’t familiar with Persian food, Kandoo offered a great selection. My particular favorites were the naan with various humous and dips, which were easily the best that I’ve ever had. My meal of lamb kebab was good, though nothing compared with the starters. The main complaint I had was that the credit card machine wasn’t working, so many of us ended up dashing around to ATMs to get cash. For a big party, this was a bit of a hassle that is always better to avoid. Service was good, though our food was slow to arrive. Additionally, one of our table members kept getting forgotten when we were going around ordering. Also, it is a BYOB place, which can be really nice. Overall, it was a good experience, nothing too fancy or amazing, but certainly okay.

I had never had persian food before a few nights ago, but Kandoo was definitely a great introduction. The starter mezzes were all delicious. I would recommend getting several and sharing, even in lieu of main courses. We also had some lamb kebabs which were tasty too, but we were all pretty full from the starters. Edgeware road is definitely a trek for me, but it was worth the visit. It also helped that the friend who chose the restaurant is persian and spoke with the hostess in farsi. Don’t know if that makes a huge difference, but our service was great.

I was visiting London for the first time and thought I try a Persian restaurant. I had tried some very good Persian restaurants when I lived in southern California, so I had some high expectations. The overall attitude here is one where they could care less for your business, i.e. no smiles, no checking in on how the meal was or if you need anything else. The boneless chicken lacked flavor and the chili sauce I was offered was from Louisiana in a bottle — not exactly my idea of Persian. By the way, I did see Persian customers being greeted in a friendly manner.

A short walk from Edgeware road in Northern London, the last time I visited Kandoo was to celebrate a friend’s birthday. They gave us the whole back room to ourselves and even decorated a cake picked up for us from a local bakery to surprise our guest of honor. The starter mezze here is hard to beat and the main courses can be eaten as meals in and of themselves or shared among friends – though admittedly the starters were the more enjoyable part of the meal. In the summertime, the restaurant has its own back patio so you can enjoy one of London’s nicer days outside, while sipping on your own choice of brew(Kandoo is Bring your Own!)

The food was decent, the atmosphere warm, but the location poor. I ordered to minced lamb kabab with rice and a side order of bread and a yogurt drink(dough). My total bill was 10GBP without tip. The food tasted great but the only downside was the location.

Nice food, nicely and sincerely done. The owner is an honest good man who knows how to run a nice restaurant that has lots of regularcustomer. A definite recommendation that will not dissapoint and it is also good value. It is normally reasonably busy but not full, however this is only because it is in an area which is probably more suited to budget fast food than the mid priced eat in restaurant, so this is only an issue of location. However there is nothing wrong with the location and I am sure many people walk there from Maida Vale and other nearby places. A good place for good honest middle eastern food
