Kaspar’s Seafood Bar and Grill

Lovely 3 course meal in a very lovely and romantic setting, situated in one of the most iconic hotels of London.
The food was well presented and the food combination was great.
It was certainly a tat expensive but you kinda expect that when you go there.
Ever course was great and in particular loved the tuna sashimi (fusion), and the caramel creumx dessert. It was super gorgeous!
My only complaint is that, for that price I expected perfection, but unfortunately the food was either a tat too salty or too plain. Was not just right. Non-​the-​less it was a nice night out.

We took advantage of a cheeky wee offer via groupon for 3 course & a glass of champers for 2.
When the OH phoned to reserve it was the politest customer service experience he’d ever had!
On arrival the staff were very friendly & welcoming. Kasper’s is right at the back & we were given a lovely table overlooking the river. Apart from a mix-​up with the water order (we were given still instead of the sparking we’d ordered) the service and attention to detail was excellent.
Although we were there on an offer we were allowed to choose from the all day dining menu, which had much more choice than their pre theatre menu.
The OH had the salmon & crab fish cake to start, the yellowfin tuna steak for main & a caramel cremeux dessert. I had the scallops to start, Hereford fillet for main & the dark chocolate fondant for dessert. We shared sides of truffle mash & creamed Savoy cabbage with bacon. We also had a bottle of Lebanese rosé.
The portions were generous & the food was delicious. The tuna was cooked perfectly and melted in the mouth as it should. The steak was lovely & had lots of flavour. I’d definitely go back again for something to eat pre-​theatre.

The Savoy is one of London’s iconic hotel/​resturant venue. The Kaspar’s Seafood Bar & Grill sits inside this iconic venue. In order to get to it you have to walk through the grand and opulent gazebo area, which is a good place to have a drink and people watch.
If it gets busy and your just a couple you might find yourself seated at the bar area, that might be ok but I’m not sure I would want to eat my dinner at the bar in somewhere like the Savoy.
Now the down side is that they tell you they have turn around times on the tables so, as they are in theatre land, must get lots of people heading into the theatres which means your meal could become rushed.
They do get your orders out to you quickly, a little to quickly if I’m honest. We had to stall them when it came to ordering desert!
The food was tasty and as a person who likes food the portions could have been a little bit bigger but perhaps I’m just greedy
When we had outstayed our welcome they moved us into the gazebo area with our after dinner drinks.
I’m not sure I’ll rush back but it’s one of those places in london, I think, you should try and eat in at least once. And it’s three stars as it was all a little rushed!

Wonderful. I had the Parma Ham, White Asparagus with Truffle mascarpone & Organic chicken. Chicken bad great seasoning. Highly recommend if you’re just getting in & need something tasty.

Kaspers Seafood Bar and Grill is a lovely restaurant set in a grand hotel The Savoy. Me and my husband went on Monday night when we arrived we was sat at a side table (opposite the seafood bar). However I had made a request to sit next to the window and even stated in our request as it was our 7^th wedding anniversary so I questioned this and they had no notes which I cant understand as I had requested when booking and via email when I had to change the time of my sitting to be slightly earlier. The staff member did say she would try and sort out the window seat then for me but I could not be bothered as this had sort of put me in a mood from the start so I just stayed where I was sat. There was also a problem with the set menu we was given but the manager explained to us that the offer we booked through it was their mistake in how they advertised the menu etc. We then was given bread and I must admit the bread was a bit disappointing as was quite hard so hard it was hard to eat. Also we was poured out water from a complimentary looking bottle that you get served in other restaurants and at the end of the meal when the bill came we was charged for the water. We was not happy about this so we got it deducted from our bill. So be warned the water is NOT free. This is the only reason why I am marking my review as very good and not excellent. Now for the positives the décor in Kaspers is beautiful and grand very 20’s style feel. I had seabass on a bed of peas and it was amazing so soft and melted in the mouth and not one fish bone, my husband had Chicken with a mushroom sauce which he said was amazing and full of flavour. We both had for dessert the elderflower panacotta with a champagne sorbet it just heavenly melted in our mouths so creamy and smooth the best we have ever had. Dress code you can dress casual but we dressed up smart. Some people did come in casual wear which I felt did not look right for the restaurant I think a restaurant like Kaspers should have a smart dress code. Even though we dined on a theatre offer we would return as the prices seemed very reasonable for a restaurant that is based in London and a top class hotel.

Certainly the best seafood in the city. The service is impeccable and the food is wonderful.

Staying at the Savoy, had breakfast here daily. Prompt and courteous service and a good breakfast to start the day off right. Must try the eggs benedict.

Usually a great experience, and the royal plats du mer was delicious as always but a little disappointed to be overcharged £50 for a bottle of wine I never had and then have to chase the mistake.

I have discovered the most magnificent combination: champagne and soda bread. I don’t mean champagne baked in soda bread, which would be daft even if some waitrose supplier’s marketing department eyes just lit up. I mean champagne sipped with occasional bites of soda bread.
I happen to know this due to one of those restaurant vouchers you can get offering champagne three course meal at the Savoy fish grill. Although the Savoy definitely told me off for calling it a voucher rather than a certificate. I don’t think they are going down market. The most expensive wine was £345 FOR A GLASS.

Service was excruciatingly slow. Came in telling the waiter that I had to leave by about 6PM for a show and they said it would be fine. Ordered from the pre-​theater 3 course meal. First dish was duck. It came quick and tasted pretty good. Main course was the risotto. Yuck. I couldn’t make myself eat even a third of it. Ordered a side of jersey potatoes. Bad choice on my part. Turns out, it’s just buttered fingerling potatoes. Dessert was chocolate cake with raspberry sorbet. Waited close to half an hour before I got it. When I did, the sorbet was more than half way melted. Ate part of the mediocre cake and melted sorbet. Next came waiting another half an hour for my bill. In the end, I ate for about 30 minutes and spent about an hour just waiting. Kept flagging waiters, but they’d ignore me or forget why I called them. No, the place wasn’t that busy. I got there at 5PM, left at 6:45PM.

Good location and atmosphere but not very good execution on the food. The prices are expensive even for London. I spent 80 pounds and left hungry. Had the fruits de mer platter and the halibut ceviche. It came with half a scallop and 4 shrimp and 4 oysters. The shrimp were over cooked and rubbery.

Whilst the ambience of the walk from the hotel entry to the grill is lovely, the grill itself was average in many ways. The atmosphere was nice and buzzy, no doubt mostly tourists. Décor was ok, an Art Deco pastiche which could have come from the late 80s (although I hated the veneer tables, which I’m sure are there just so they can be easily cleaned).
Anyway, the food was ok, we had fillet of cod and rump of lamb from the set menu. I stress OK. They forgot our glasses of champagne, the wine did not come until half way through our main meal, and when our glasses were empty they were not refilled for a long time, so like an alcoholic I asked him to leave the bottle of wine on the table. It was a £7 screw top Pinot Grigio anyway. To ask me to taste the wine was almost laughable, was it going to be corked? Average at best, a tourist trap.

On our recent trip to London, we literally stumbled into the Savoy Hotel. I was interested in seeing the Beatles play which is at that location. We ruled out the play and thought we’d have a look at the lobby. The lobby was quite nice. We had just missed afternoon tea, which looked very tasty and elegant. So we went into Kaspar’s just to have appetizers as we weren’t that hungry yet. We both thought the cured salmon with star anise was a major stand out. It was quite delicate and perfectly flavorful. The bread they serve it with is delicious homemade bread. They also served wonderful mini baguette type rolls with perfectly chilled butter. The ambiance is lovely, very forties. I understand it has been recently redesigned, but I thought it was from back in the day, in the best possible way. The side of creamed potatoes and another side of spinach were totally perfect. We went there a second time for a full yummy meal. Besides loving this restaurant, I must say the hotel lobby bathrooms are quite a treat. There’s a grand entry foyer just for the ladies room, art on all the walls including over each toilet. The room with the sinks is soooo nice and an attendant gives you a nice terry cloth washcloth when it’s time to dry your hands. It’s a great place to go for a meal.
