Kookoo

I have some friends who live close to here, so on the way there, I need to grab something to eat. From the outside, Kookoo does look quite nice, but once you get inside, it’s clear that it’s not anything too posh, which is okay.
I ordered a veg burger and chips for takeaway which cost only £5.50. It took quite a bit longer than I expected — maybe 10 minutes? But I guess this isn’t a McDonald’s and it was unrealistic for me to expect to get similarly fast service.
The veg burger was quite good though — cooked just right with fresh lettuce, tomato and pickles on it.
The employees were very nice. While I was ordering, he knew I was American, so he asked if I wanted «fries» with my burger. :)
I plan on coming here again since it seems to be the closest, non-​greasy takeaway place near my friend’s flat. I’m open to bumping up my review to 4 stars if I continue to like this place, but for now, it’s good but not the type of place to tell all your mates about, which is why I’m giving it 3 stars.

Just touched down in London Town. Bet they give me a.. .jacket potato?
Odd though it may seem, something about London just puts me in the mood for baked potatoes so I was delighted to find one on Kookoo’s menu topped with chili! I swiftly snatched one up for my lunch and while the salad on the side was worthless the spud satisfied. And getting it with a glass of fresh-​squeezed grapefruit juice was especially nice!
I think Kookoo’s still working out it exactly what it wants to be — juice bar? organic restaurant? — but the offerings are solid.

I was impressed with this new eatery. In an area not known for its fabulous or diverse cuisine, Kookoo is trying to up the class factor just that little bit. From the outside the restaurant looks swanky, once inside the expectation drops as the interior is quite plain.
The menu is suited to lunch time dining. I had a pasta dish that was delicious and my dinner dates jacket potato was gratefully devoured and enjoyed. The other options lean towards panini’s and exciting sounding sandwiches. There is a decent selection of freshly squeezed juice and vegetable drinks on the menu too. The ones we had tasted delicious.
The prices are reasonable for London but slightly higher than the lower end eateries in Kentish Town. Still Kookoo is certainly worth a lunch time visit.
