La Dolce Vita is an old bastion of Italian cooking on Wimbledon Broadway. It has been here as long as I’ve lived in the area — 16 years and it hasn’t really changed much if at all over that time. The décor is still the same and the menu is largely the same. While you may argue that don’t fix something that’s not broken, it really looks and feels tired, especially with a lot of chains, independents and takeaways expanding aggressively into the Italian food sector. The telling thing is that I really struggle to order from the menu because nothing really excites me. The pasta is filling but that’s about the only comment I can make about the food I hope that this restaurant freshens its image and menu soon as the last thing I want is for the recession to claim another independent restaurant as a victim and for a chain restaurant to take its place

La Dolce Vita is a nice, quiet Italian restaurant on The Broadway in Wimbledon. It’s décor is a bit old fashioned and on the two occassions i’ve been in it’s always been deadly quiet. The food is ok, not the flavoursome Italian food i would expect after eating in many great italian restaurants although the highlight of the meal was dessert-they do an amazing creamy tiramasu, if i go there again it will probably just be for dessert! The wine was ok, the service was very good and the owner is sweet. Prices are very reasonable.
