Friendly staff, large selection of coffees and teas including chai latte. It’s a tiny place but there are two– three tables outside and a wood bench to much your pastries or drink your coffees. I got the breakfast flapjack and it was quite good: a hefty, just firm-enough bar that was sweet with the oats and nuts making a tasty appearance. However, I’m dinkng two stars for no customer loo. =/

A tiny hole in the wall on Battersea High Street, La Moka makes a solid coffee(I’m more of a flat white kind of guy, my spouse prefers a latte). I’d probably never walk here only for the coffee, though. It’s great, but not memorable. I would, however, come here for the baked goods. They’re not made on site, but the bakery they source from has some of the best baguettes and flavoured breads I’ve seen in South London. On a chilly Saturday morning, walking back from the Battersea High Street market, I will invariably get a nice loaf of bread for the weekend. The downsides of the place are few. It’s tiny, so there’s no indoor seating. So don’t plan on a warm weekend morning in the winter. They’ve always got three employees working the place on a Saturday morning, which often seems a bit much given the very small amount of actual space available to stand inside.(There are some outside tables…). The employees are super friendly. Definitely a fan — I visit once or twice a week.

I have yet to find a better flat white in Battersea. They use Allpress coffee and they know how to make it. The staff members are friendly and they have yummy bread and cakes too. There’s not really space inside to linger, but they do have a few seats outside with heaters for the cold months.

Good coffee is something that is missing from South London and Battersea. As the area grows, I expect a lot more independent coffee shops to pop up. The place is small so don’t plan on getting a seat(unless you are lucky). Alongside their great coffee, their is a large deletion of cakes and sandwiches. Pay them a visit!

La Moka is our flat’s local café and first point of call on weekends for great java and awesome food. They serve Allpress espresso which is one of my personal favourites, and the barista actually knows how to make a good coffee. They have an incredible range of pastries, sandwiches, and bread — you won’t find yourself short of choice for treats. A particular favourite is the cherry danish. The team running the café are really friendly as well. It’s small so you’re unlikely to get a seat unless the two outside tables are free, so be prepared to takeaway — but there is nothing but good things to say about this incredible coffee shop. Visit it if you can!
