A little gem of an Italian restaurant on the Kings Road — the mixed fish risotto was perfection on a plate as was the lemon cheesecake. It’s nice to find an authentic Italian restaurant where they do simple classic food very well.

L’Antico sadly didn’t come up to scratch. My pizza had too much cheese on it — thicker than the base, even — leaving the top of the base undercooked and the bottom of the base overcooked. The mozzarella used was also quite low-quality stuff too, and the only way I was able to finish the pizza was to scrape off much of the cheese. On the plus side, the service was friendly and the tiramisu was okay. But neither were enough to remedy the poor mains. I’ll be heading to the pizzerias in South Ken next time.

I went there on a tip from a London cabbie and what a great find! !t’s a great honest italian little place stuck in the middle of the posh furniture and antiques shops of the Fulham end of the King’s road. The menu is to the point with all your classics and a few daily specials thrown in. The plates arrived promptly with great ingredients and produce that makes great italian cooking. Basically you don’t need to make it fancy and complicated to make it right. It’s exactly what I would expect from an italian neighbourhood place.
