Lidl is either a 2 star or a 4-star experience. You have to know how to take it, and what what you get, but you can get some nice stuff in here, on the cheap. They’ll have drink specials(don’t get the spirits, or the wine, just the beer and the cider, and maybe don’t get the cheapest of everything, just get what you recognise). Decent chocolate bars for 79p? check. German sausages at good prices? yup. 59p fresh lovely swedes? Yup, that, too. You’ve gotta watch the sell-by dates and it all appears a bit dodge but keep your heid and you’ll do all right.

i do most of my shopping here in lidl and have got it to a fine art. The Brixton staff are great really friendly and helpful and they work there socks off. i don’t find the queue any longer than other supermarkets and they are definitely cheaper. all the standard staples are available and there own brand stuff is as good as any other They used to do a wicked marmite copy by there brand route 66 but got rid of it for some reason. i preferred it to the real marmite and of course it was cheaper. Unlike the other reviewer i use the formil laundry liquid and its all right for me even though i am a sensitive flower. i think they are the bizniz. dried fruit, nuts deli stuff they have it all.

Just so happens to be my local supermarket, so despite the dubious nature of the place(and some of the clientele!) you’ll find me in here often a couple of times a week. On top of the reasonable range of «own brand» supermarket items, there’s a twice weekly changeover of a range of other items which can range from televisions and microwaves to chainsaws and horse saddle polish! Beware — they take debit cards, but not credit cards. Plastic bags are 3p each, but I don’t mind as they’re strong, and why shouldn’t you pay for them? My top tips for things to buy: — pressed apple juice — cranberry juice — cottage cheese — sliced chorizo — free range whole chicken — mortadella — tiramisu — aluminium foil — dishwasher tablets(the cheapest ones– they were a Which? best buy!) — dishwasher salt Don’t buy: — Formil laundry liquid

My housemates and I go to Lidl very often to stock up on tinned goods liked tomatoes, sweetcorn and various beans. We buy them by the tray and find that we save a lot by doing this instead of going to the usual big supermarket chains. Whilst we are there we also stock up on cheeses. They do a good mozarella for 50p and nice cheddar. They even have tasty antipastis like Feta stuffed chillis which are so tasty and a bargain at 1.50. You can park around the back of the store.
