It’s the location that led to thie M&S Café getting 4 stars. This M&S Café is actualy part of the M&S Headquarters building in the newly devloped Paddington Basin near Paddington Station. You even have to go into the lobby of the HQ if you need the restroom(there is also a free to use ATM machine there too). Because of where it is, this M&S Café is probably the nicest fitted out ones I’ve seen. It is spacious, although not overly large. It has high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. It also has plenty of outdoor seating too, which is where I like to go to enjoy the view of the canal and the barges. The coffee is pretty standard, plus they also offer the usual selection of sandwiches, salads and pastires. They also do afternoon teas here. One thing I like about this café is that you have the choice of china or paper cups, unlike the M&S Café on the concorse at Westfield. The staff here are friendly and engaging, which is also a plus. Another strange thing about this outlet, is that the drinks only come in one size, which suits me, as I’m sure it’s large, but at a lower price than their other outlets. It really is the setting that makes it for me here. Great view, and ideal if you are a people watcher. You never know if a friendly swan might pass by.

This café– open to the public– is in the lobby of the M&S offices near Paddington. It’s spacious with high ceilings, lots of natural light, indoor and outdoor seating, and nice views of the canal. You may even see some swans swim by. The coffee and tea and snacks is pretty standard stuff, but this is a good place to have a casual meeting if you’re in or work in the area.
