Marks and Spencer Simply Food(regularly compressed to M&S or Simply Food) are wonderful mini-supermarkets, Everybody loves them. With my English lineage, I am quite familiar with Marks & Spencer. My Grandparents were quite upset when the franchise left Canada. Marks & Spencer is synonymous with the United Kingdom. This major chain mini-supermarket presents consistently superb food. It is a retail outlet where you peruse high-quality food, amongst other things… Fresh GLUTENFREEREADYMADESANDWICHES!!! WHAT! My wife was nearly in tears. Her eyes lit up every single time we saw the bold & bright«SIMPLYFOOD» sign during our stay. If you are gluten-free and/or celiac, you know that the GF bread usually tastes like cardboard. Fresh ready made GF sandwiches simply do not exist in Canada. Their premade packaged ‘made without wheat’ sandwiches were a reliable standby for lunch or a mid-day snack. She had a difficult time choosing from so many delectable choices, like poached salmon and watercress, rare roast beef and horseradish, and roast chicken salad. Lovely textured bread — soft and spongy — with a great range of seeds. For dinner, there was a myriad of hot food items to choose from. Goat cheese quiches, roasted racks of lamb, and grilled veggie pizzas, oh my! Once my wife selected her perfect GF meal, she relished the opportunity to complement her meal with a bottle of wine. They had a wide selection of red & white wine, along with bottles of champagne. They have an abundance of desserts and indulgences to choose from. She found the ‘made without wheat’ Caramel pecan crunch square to be a savoury combination of textures and flavours. She found the ‘made without wheat’ Almond frangipane traybake an absolute pleasure to eat, with a pleasing almond aroma and a soft, moist sticky, rich texture. As expected with Marks and Spencer, the food always looks exquisite. Their ‘made without wheat’ chocolate muffins looked absolutely scrumptious, congested with huge planetary chunks. She said the muffin was so moist, she hard a hard time believing it was gluten free! Unlike the dry alternatives she had tried before, these muffins is her all time favourite. She described it as explosive with chocolatey flavours. They unquestionably are not frugal on the size! My wife hopes and prays that Marks and Spencer Simply Food comes back to invade Canada.
