I visited this place for the first time today, mainly cause it’s right outside the business school. The ambience was good but the food was quiet average at best. The food was too oily and the paneer had no taste in it at all. The biryani was ok and hence the 3 stars.

Came here recently for a work celebration. The service was mediocre and the food was a bit on the pricey side. There was a lack of atmosphere and even though we were the only customers they struggled to serve us all. The food was reasonably tasty, but a little bit spicy for my taste buds. I went for one of the set menus which was a bit more reasonable. Don’t think I’ll be back again

The portion of food here is very generous. We had the chicken tika marsella, lamb korma, and a vegetarian dish with cheese and spinach. Very tasty overall. The garlic and cheese naan are also very good. Just keep in mind that this Indian place does not offer rice, as rice needs to be ordered separately. The price is quite decent as we spent about 18 pounds each person for very fulfilling meal. I would recommend this place overall.

I visited this restaurant in August 2013 with a couple of friends. The place itself is huge. Unfortunately, the décor is a bit faded and the loos are well in need of refurbishment. For the general appearance, I scored the place a 2(mainly because of the loos). However, I have to agree with the other reviewers that the food is absolutely superb some of the best curry I have eaten(and I have eaten many). The portions are also a generous size. So plenty to eat, and of excellent quality. I scored this a 5. Staff were friendly without being in your face. I scored them a 4. All-in-all a 4 Price worked out at about 35 a head(a couple of beers, starter and main course).

Lovely restaurant, suitable for the whole family. I was here last Saturday and I don’t think I speak only for myself when I say we had a very nice evening delicious meals and friendly staff.

The prata was great. The lamb dish was way too spicy and so was the rice. The good thing is that it isn’t too crowded so you can get out of the rain when all of the nearby pubs are full.

I was STARVING searching for this place on Sunday afternoon. The décor brought a lovely smile to my face — arches and pillars and paintings of the Taj Mahal! We were served with poppadoms while we waited to order. Mango Chutney, chillis and that cool lovely mint one… mmmmm I went veggie and got some Matar Paneer, which was an awesome choice. The portion sizes were perfect for us and the price to match. The waiters are a bit shy and quiet, kinda wanted to shout at them to be a little more lively. The place was almost empty, but we were there early enough and the food more than made up for it. From the looks of the layout of the place, it seems that they sometimes host large events, possibly Indian weddings? Had a chat and a plan with my friends about seeing how much it would cost us to rent the whole place out for a birthday party… Think it would be amazing??? Either way, I would definitely go back if I was in that neck of the woods and hungry.

The Mumtaz is a fine Indian restaurant located on Park Road, near Baker Street Station. It may be the best indian place I have tried so far. Their angle is to serve great indian classic in a rather fancy venue and area. Nothing very original, but a great feeling of authenticity. All the customers were actually Indian when I ate there, and I assume they chose this place for a reason :) Amazing curries, extremely tender meats. Don’t try to tame the spice with their vegetarian dishes, it’s even spicier ! The price is reasonable for the quality you get.

Agreed with the previous reviewer. This place is really great! Staff are really friendly. they have good music on everytime I have been. Once took a bunch of family members in(about 20 of us) and the staff bent over backwards to accomdate us and even gave us a bottle of wine on the house. I have must have been to this place about 30 times but am still not bored… Definitly worth a visit this place.
