It does not serve the best quality sushi in London but it is a suitable restaurant for large group. The place is really large in space and they also do set menu that can cater for small and large group. With set menu it can make it easier to order for large groups. We tried the party set menus and we had three to choose. The big mix set consist of a mixture of sushi. The robatayaki set consist of just grilled meat and vegetables. For a mixture of both, the Fuji set will offer this. We tried a mixture of sushi(maki rolls, nigiri) from tradition to modern. The quality defintely was not as good as other London places such as Eat Tokyo and even Stick n Sushi. The concept at Murakami actually reminded me a bit of Stick n Sushi.

Oh go on then 5 stars. I took a recommendation of a cinnamon whiskey cocktail and it was very good. Although they use huge ice which can make drinking it hard. The food seemed to arrive before the waiter left the table. It all appears fast and is delicious. I was quite surprised. I never visit a London restaurant twice but I might have to make an exception here.

I had an extremely disappointing birthday meal at Murakami last week. Truly regret coming. Their ‘rainbow roll’ is a joke — overpriced and TINY portion. The service was awful as well — after finishing our food we were brought dessert menus and were ready to order but no one gave us any attention for the next 40 or so minutes so we decided just get the bill and leave. Don’t come here unless you wanna leave with an empty wallet and an empty stomach.

Cool looking décor, food was pretty good and there was a nice collection of cocktails. Although not very pricey, it adds up, but acceptable given quality, location and ambiance. I’d recommend to come back with friends.

Truly dreadful. Horribly made and overpriced sushi in a tourist trap part of central London. Their attempts at a Rainbow and Green Dragon roll would have been laughable if they were not so expensive. Terribly rolled, bulked out with cucumber and containing a sliver of fish. We paid £50 for 4 sushi rolls with no drinks. Avoid this place at all costs. Please go to Nizuni on Charlotte Street instead. If you need to be near St Martins Lane and you must have Sushi, you’re better served going to Itsu on Queen street to save yourself £20 and an evening of frustration.

Great sushi in a nice setting. Very reasonable price and set menus. Highly recommended for a casual lunch or for business and special events.

Murakami didn’t blow my socks off, but I still enjoyed the overall dining experience. For those unfamiliar with Murakami, the restaurant opened fairly recently in January and offers a host of sushi, sashimi and robata grill dishes. The space is great — feels modern and sleek. The restaurant is fairly large and doesn’t have that packed, overly loud vibe some central London restaurants are prone to, but at the same time feels intimate. My friend and I ordered the popcorn tempura prawns(as recommended by our waiter), aubergine from the robata grill, pork belly from the robata grill, spicy tuna roll, one other roll which escapes me, and edamame for good measure. The food was solid, although nothing really stands out in my mind upon reflection. Perhaps the aubergine from the robata grill. I sadly found the pork belly disappointing, but I have fairly high standards for pork belly, so don’t let me dissuade you from ordering it. Overall, solid meal in a cool new restaurant with somewhat palatable prices given its central location.

If there was an option to add to the 5 stars I’d put another 2 on top. I cannot fault this restaurant in any way and if I could I’d dine there every single day. The service, presentation and most of all the quality of the food made my dinner there the best of all I have had so far in London. Amazing collection of ‘made in front of your eyes’ sushi, rich in flavours starters(yellow tail carpaccio in particular) and perfectly cooked mains combined with the modern deco and fancy serving plates make it a special experience hard to forget. You will see lamps on the ceiling shaped as wine glasses not only in the main dining area but also in the washrooms. Both: the main kitchen on one side and the sushi kitchen on another are quite close and visible to the diners. Speaking of wine. I was extremely pleased to be offered to choose the wine first — something that is usually left to the men to decide for some strange reason… It showed that I would be served by open minded and attentive staff from the very start. The service was perfect all the way through and I’m looking forward to another meal there.

I came here on a 30% off for a quick snack whilst I was in Central one Sunday afternoon. The place is pretty cool, with lots of space, interesting design, an open kitchen and friendly staff. I didn’t eat lots — just the vegetable tempura and the California rolls — but both were very tasty. I think if I had paid full price I might have felt the portions to be a tad on the small side, although I wouldn’t say that was dramatically different from 75% of the sushi places in London. I would recommend this place for a chilled but classy dinner with friends or a date.

So-so food ruined by an awful kitchen concept. Many will be fooled by the legitimately great looking room. They clearly put a ton of money into the huge and well appointed dining area. If you’ve got a date who I’ll be impressed by lots of dark wood and comfy surroundings but lacks a tongue and preferably has never eaten Japanese ever in their life then you stand a chance of a decent evening. If however you are with someone that has a modicum of taste, has experienced service better than McDonalds and cares even remotely about eating well then better find someplace else Here’s how our night went down: We arrived and were seated after about 5m, directly beside the door which is totally unprotected and so is very drafty and cold. After I went to the restroom and saw that there was a lot of room at the back I asked to be reseated — they did this without complaint but initially tried to seat us directly by the pass where the sushi kitchen does their work. I explained we’d prefer to be somewhere less busy and they moved us to the back. Kinda weird but not a deal breaker. Things went downhill from the point we ordered — they explained to us they have a «free kitchen» and that the food cannot be timed or ordered and that it would arrive when«done». I assumed this was a gimmick and they had some sort of system but apparently they mean it. All of our food showed up at exactly the same time! The waiters were literally stacking plates and asking us to help them make room. So now we have some imitation isakaya grilled meat that was chewy and bland, some snap peas over coated in vegetable oil they told us were beans(we were in no mood to argue but when a restaurant can’t tell the difference you know you’re in trouble), some tasteless sushi roll, and the appetizer, a competently made yellowtail carpaccio with jalapeño(not original but fine). We were done eating in about 10m and got the check and left. We went to J Sheekey around the corner and had a stellar meal. In a nutshell, it’s bad quality food overpriced and massively rushed service with clueless management that seem like they’ve just graduated from the local hospitality school. Looks good is not the same as is good guys. J Sheekey is kind of a dump but the food and service was amazing, go there instead!

I couldn’t have been more excited to be taken here for dinner. As soon as I came inside I had a good feeling about it. The deco is a kind of Eco-urban-chic– minimalism, with lots of wood everywhere, and a wall covered in moss! It’s a large venue but the tables are well spaced, so you can choose whether or not you listen to your neighbours gossip or not. Our server Maria recommended the yellowfin carpaccio when we made our order. So delicious! The edamame were delightfully al dente, the vegetable tempura is the best I’ve had in London, the scallops are perfect(and rival hawksmoor for textural perfection) and the rainbow roll… Safe to say I was cry happy with the quality of the food. We normally go to Ten Ten Tei, and this place certainly rivals it for freshness and quality. The service is excellent and the menu concepts genuinely interesting and well delivered. And you see some of that in the price– but that is by no means a bad thing. I saw groups of friends, couples and families with smaller children(but old enough to sit at a table and feed themselves. The ambiance was really mellow but with a good buzz. They’re new in town so that may be why we walked in at 8pm on a Saturday without having to book or wait… But I would imagine that will change soon. If you like your sushi or have a first date, go here. I’ll be back for sure :)
