delicious food and traditional Indian taste ummm very recommended for gulf and Arab visitors the place is normal and cheap look but don’t miss the food

I was a little bit worried when I went into this restaurant. It was basically empty when I walked in, there was quite a lot of other people at the other places nearby.
The food was cooked very quickly and to be honest I did hear a lot of Pinging coming from the kitchen. I’m speculating that the food might not have been cooked fresh!
HOWEVER… The food was pretty nice. The starters were OK and the main course was pretty tasty.
I had a mixed starter and a Chicken Dopiaza + Naan.
Price wise pretty cheap for London as well, about 8 quid for a main.
Not amazing but not bad.

Went to this restaurant in London since we ran into while walking the streets. It attracted me due to its boutique look and feel.
We were seated downstairs and the area was extremely tight. We managed to get into our seats and were ready to order.
I began with their Lamb Seekh Kebab (I believe that anyone who can cook kebabs well can cook any Indian dish well) to try it out and then planned on ordering more after the taste test. Did NOT work. Did not like the kebabs and I put a stop there. We paid and ran out of there.

Came here with a buddy on a Sunday evening. Overall an OK experience. The food is pretty run-​of-​the-​mill or one notch down from that. It’s not very expensive, but that’s really not an excuse, right?
We started with some chicken tika salad and samosas — OK but nothing to get revved up over. For main dishes we shared chicken curry, chicken tika and that dish with spinach and cottage cheese, along with some rice. Again, everything was OK at best, and everything seemed to have a bit too much oil. Flavors were alright but not very exciting. You could get a meal here for around 10 quid, which I guess is the appeal for a lot of people.
The place itself is small and in the basement level of a building. Comfortable enough but certainly not glamourous. No windows but plenty of mirrors. The servers were fine.
But yeah, I can’t really recommend this place too highly. There are a bunch of other restaurants in the immediate vicinity that I would try next.

Perhaps Shepherd Market is not the place to go for Indian in Mayfair.
We tried New Tajmahal and were very happy with the service but underwhelmed by our meals. The Chicken Tikka Masala was spicy, but it seemed that the dish depended on the heat of the spice for its flavor as other than the heat, it was rather bland. Presentation-​wise, it arrived with a nice drizzle of cream on top but with dish and the cream appeared a little dried out, as though the dish had been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile prior to being served.
Overall, not a place we’ll return to.

A wee little establishment in Shepherd’s Market — aka as London’s best-​kept secret — a quiet stretch in an otherwise tourist-​infested part of town… Mom was in town and very much on the lookout for Indian cuisine at all points of time. This place seemed to have a bunch of lunch time offers which seemed terribly reasonable for this neighbourhood — about 7−9quid for a mains dish + rice — not too shabby at all…
We went into the little rabbit hole of a restaurant which was arranged neatly and compactly. There were several newspaper cutouts about the history of the restaurant — it opened the day after JFK was assassinated, has played host to several Miss World contestants and other small time stars and all in all, the eatery seemed well proud of the fact that they’d stayed put through several good and bad years…
The place was empty and quiet when we were there, which might be more an indication of the bad weather outside and the time of the day we’d chosen to come by. The service was attentive (ss would be expected for an empty restaurant) The food was well made and spicy to taste, portions were generous and service was satisfactory. That said, the fare was that of quite the run-​of-​the-​mill curry house, albeit with a history of sorts… so I wouldn’t mind dropping by again if I am in the area but I don’t foresee having a particular craving to come to this particular restaurant… also, I’m a tad wary about the capacity of the restaurant, doesn’t seem like a place that’s great for groups…

Had dinner there a few nights ago. A very small and «cosy» (so cosy I felt I was sat in the table next to ours paneer) basement space. The interior is kitsch but warming. The food was very dissapointing. We had a selection of dishes from the chicken korai — bland and lacking flavour with a slightly unnerving texture — to the Prawn madras. The chutneys were excellent however and were the highlight of the meal. The pashwari naan was simple with a distinct lack of coconut filling. My pilau rice was overpowering with its level of cardamom. Nearest to one of the blandest curry experiences ive ever had.
