Every time I’ve walked into the Nicolas on Marylebone High Street I’ve never been disappointed. The staff there is very friendly and extremely helpful. They are all very knowledgable of the different wines and spirits they carry and will recommend the right one for your occasion. I have gone in for different types of parties and every suggestion they’ve given has been spot on. They are my go to place in the neighbourhood for wines.

I went to Nicolas last week for one of their weekly tastings, this time it was Champagne. It is a fact universally acknowledged that Champagne goes well with all foods, I found that it went very well with sunny, Friday afternoon too. Great vibe here, with a classic French touch. The store manager, Nicolas, and his team organise tastings almost every week on the weekends. I know where I’ll be heading for a bottle on Fridays :) This week they have Champagne de Castelnau tasting in celebration of Tour de France so I took a picture of the window. Thanks guys!

We like wine but hardly consider ourselves connoisseurs, so we were quite happy to rely on recommendations made by the friendly, knowledgeable staff in this shop when we rented an apartment nearby. Everything they suggested was excellent, and we were impressed by the fact they didn’t try to steer us towards their more expensive selections.

OK wow, I just put that I am a fan of a wine shop, not sure if that was my first step towards future AA meetings but for now we shall just say I like the shop. This is a chain store but the people working here actually seem to know something about wine. This store has been around for 182 years so they have had time to perfect their system. Originally a French wine shop whose claim to fame is being the first to sell wine by the bottle and not by the volume. They have the largest wine bottles I have ever seen at 150cl. They are a great gift for a father-in-law by the way. They also have decanters for special dinners, glasses, spirits, champaign, red, white and rose wines. Their prices range from affordable £5 for a drinkable bottle to very old and very expensive.
