This place is definitely ON Broadway Market, but OFF the beaten track. I came here a few times for drinks and yesterday to get some work-related things done, together with a lager… and all my experiences here have been great. Definitely more a night place, Off Broadway’s ambiance is at it’s best when the sun is down and the candles are on… sit by the bar, private or communal table, listening to some oldschool hits. The beer selection is great and the wine glasses generous. A subterranean jazz bar opened downstairs apparently, Kansas Smitty’s.and I’m very much looking forward to see this in action! More to come on this ;)

Ahhhh… Broadway market… If you’re like me and you pac-man your way around this market, by the time you get the dude selling his amazing fudge, you will be either be in a food coma or have developed type 2 sugarbetes. In this case, you need to have a sit away from the market madness to fill your already overstuffed bellies with some needed alcohol. Luckily, there’s Off Broadway. True to it’s name, it is directly off of the Broadway market between the lady with the pies(not my favorite) and the guy that sells fudge(so good that I have renounced my faith and now worship his peanut butter fudge). OB is the perfect hole in the wall bar with a couple of beers on tap, and as if it were my birthday everyday, they have prosecco on tap as well. Naturally with that said, I could just end this review now because … well… bubbles on tap! But I will continue to say they also have live bands, original cocktails with Wild Turkey 101, boozy drinks and another secret that I will let you discover on your next visit! MWAAAAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!

Unique bar!!! The vibe is very welcoming and friendly. I really liked the staff, they are very helpful and chatty. It’s a neighborhood bar where you always meet at least one familiar face. Love Monday nights as off Broadway has an open mike.

Great laid back place right on Broadway Market, nice for people watching and having a drink on the outside benches.

Quite a nice bar which has a slightly lower hipster ratio than many in the locale, gets marked up for having excellent bar staff who make some of the best cocktails I’ve had in London. Their dirty martini’s were delicious, perhaps a little too delicious tbh… I had 7.

Yay for street food! Last weekend this bar set up a stall selling three tacos for £5 to the folks wandering past to get to London fields. I was tempted over by the smell… and the taste was just as good! They were serving either pulled pork, or some kind of spicy veggy option in mini soft tacos… with a choice of mild or spicy sauce. I’m not really sure what the veggy option was– but I liked it better than the meat… it was spicy-joy in LA-mexican form. I thought the portions were a little small for a street stall. I’d probably give it four stars if I had the same food sitting in the bar… but it seemed a little steep when I took it away to eat in the park. Anyway, I AM fan… I’m probably just a bigger eater than most of the hipsters that can fit into skinny jeans.

I always go in here and have the girls(or boys) make me special cocktails. They are the best little mixologists in town. It had always been difficult to find a proper margarita in London, now it’s not as much of a rarity, but these guys have it right. The owner had a bar in LA, I think, so it reminds me of those good bars in Echo Park. And, they make a mean guacamole.

Spiciest salsa in London, stone-ground corn tortillas… OHDUH, Mexican food by an LA Mexican. Thank you. Blue Moon and Anchor Steam also on hand. Hanging out here whenever I get homesick. YEA!!!

Cool little place that wasn’t too intimidating. I think because it was raining it wasn’t guarded by the usual hungover yet still chic trenders smoking on the outdoor seating glaring as you consider going in. gah! We came here on a Saturday afternoon and wanted to grab some food. Looked like it was still coffee time for most people in the place but we grabbed a menu and tried the fare. The menu is a small selection of mexican food and a random caesar salad… we had the medium sized nachos. Delicious and pretty big for the two of us. We also drank the greyhound, vodka and grapefruit juice. Pretty big drink too. Seat by the window during market time + nachos like mom used to make + tasty booze = happy Ash. OOHOOH! There’s a fish tank where the toilet tank is in the bathroom. Disappointed that its in front of the actual water that goes down. I know it sounds sadistic but I was hoping to see the tank drain and fill back up again.

I really liked it here. Someone told me to head to Off Broadway for some funky mexican — so I assumed I’d be heading to some neveau-hipster hangout which would serve burritos on vinyls and maybe their tortillas in bowler hats. Actually, it was a cutesy little bar, dimly lit, with not that many tables upstairs at all that served some pretty decent Brex-Mex food in a relaxed and unassuming atmosphere. It’s a bar first, food second. I felt totally relaxed and really didn’t want to leave when it came to moving to our next place. They even sell Lone Star beer. Sweet huh?

You serve food now. And it’s Mexican… sorry Californian food. … … … Now you’ve thought about that for a moment. Oh hold on… … … … You might have needed a moment more. So Bar off Broadway is the cite little bar with cute staff and cute board games who have decided to impersonate Mexican food on their menu. It’s small, it’s strange, it’s not bad, but it’s certainly nothing you’d actually travel here for. BOB, you’re great you really are, you don’t have to be a try hard. We already love you. How about pie and mash? Toad in the hole? Something that’s a little bit more east London than a burrito.

Quite a fan of this little place. Very friendly bartender, pretty decent(and pretty cheap!) Mexican food, board games, and… beer! Combine all these things together, along with the great location, and you have a winner. If I lived a little closer to the area, I could see this place becoming my regular. Call me another annoying Yank, but if my choice of pub grub is between tacos and(British-meaning) chips, I’ll go tacos every time. Looking forward to heading back to this place.

Finally managed to have some of their Mexican food and it was decent stuff. Not so bursting with flavour as Chilango, but still avery nice and big burrito. It’s not too expensive either! Which makes a change for this street.

Have been to this bar quite a few times and have loved it every time we managed to get a table. The downstairs area is loud and I’d rather go to the Dove nearby than go down in Bar Off Broadway. Their selection of beers is lacking, but that gives you a license to go for something different. Other than that, this bar rocks! I usually go for the house red, which is quite safe. Occasionally, I go for a standard cocktail. I usually end the night with an Irish Coffee, which most of the barkeepers are very good at making. The barkeepers themselves are very fun to talk to and extremely efficient in serving. I haven’t had a proper meal here, and the only recommendation I can give on food is to go for the meat-board over the cheese-board. There is a nice and relaxed feel to this place. The crowd is mostly the local residents from around London Fields, which instantly conjures descriptions such as: ‘media’, ‘artists’, ‘musicians’, ‘students’ and ‘not bankers and City-boys’. Also, the Cat and Mutton pub opposite has never succeeded in luring me away from this bar, and the Dove always smells too strongly of pub food early in the evening. The only other decent option around this general area is the Crown near Victoria Park, but that’s a good 10-minute walk away.

I have only sampled the delectable atmosphere and cocktails at this bar so cannot comment on the food yet … but boy oh boy!!! ‘wolf whistles!!!’ We dropped in here one night after a yummy dinner at the Dove. I’d walked passed the bar many times. always thinking i should pop in to sample the red candle lit tables… the atmosphere of creative types chatting in hushed tones while the music plays in the back ground. We were not disappointed, we managed to find a table … ordered wine and margaritas and proceeded to get rip roaringly plastered. It was fabulous. The barman was awesome. I complimented his margarita so he made it even stronger!!! There are fish in the cisterns in the loos … just fab. I loved this bar. ill go back and back and back again. yippeee doooo!!!

Nearly a year later, and I’m definitely still feeling the same love that Matt D Unilocaled about last December. This cozy coffee-by-day, cocktails-by-night super spot not only boasts aesthetically pleasing wooden floors, killer lighting, communal tables, and a fantastic board game section, it also holds that magical ingredient of being a local family run establishment — yep, it’s truly a for Hackney, by Hackney watering hole. When describing themselves, they say they’re an «East Village bar that got lost and ended up in East London.» This is true to form in everything from beer and cocktail selection,(think Presbyterians, Long Island Iced Teas, MGD, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams,) to their willingness to allow you to bring in a slice(or entire pizza,) if you so choose. Long story short, this is certainly a great local find along Broadway market and one not to miss.

Fine café/bar/joint on Broadway Market. It’s a good spot for a meet up(if not crowded) and a nice refuge if the street’s jumpin’ just a lil too much for your tastes during the Saturday market(again, if this place isn’t teeming w/folks as well). The coffee’s good here and when there aren’t a zillion other people inside, it’s a good spot to read a book or do a bit of work. And if you can luck out with an outside table during the Saturday hipster shuffle, then enjoy some prime time people watching!

Yes you do see that correctly. I have just given 4 stars to a cocktail a place that doesn’t have a single tap(beyond the normal ones that dispense waterstaff gotta wash their hands somewhere!). I wouldn’t have believed it was possiblebut this is pretty much the perfect cocktail bar. Firstly.it does have a small selection of bottled beer. and not just the usual fizzbut beers I had not seen before. That is also a plus, but I actually found a cocktail I liked! Meanwhile a friend I was with found theirs a bit too strong, but a lovely attentive member of the bar staff noticed this and offered to add some lemonade. How is that for service? The bar has a very intimate and cosy feel to it too. I can see myself coming here again. probably when hanging out with a friend that doesn’t like my usual taste in pubs!

If I were to say that when I first came across this place a few months ago, it struck me a great place to cruise for talent, would you think me a strumpet? All the flattering mood lighting, burnt ember coloured furniure and gleeful lack of music to get in the way of conversation, coffee and drinks, screams ‘date place’ to me, yet it’s gleefully free of smitten twosomes looking longingly into each others’ eyes. It’s just as much of a hangout joint as the nearby Dove(oh, how I love thee!) and the Cat n’ Mutton. Only the intimate candlelit surrondings bring people nearly as close to you as you are on the central line at 9am, and the relative darkness imbues a sense of mystery and atrractiveness to people who may or may not be like that in reality. The spirits range was great when I went; my friend and her brother on the whiskey, brother was very picky indeed about his whiskeys and wanted something really obscure that he had in south africa once; I was suprised when the barman brandished it. The service is attentive, and if they’ve ran out of specific ingredients for a cocktail they’ll gauge your tastes and make one up on the spot. They’re nearly as good as Milk and Honey. Drinks average at £7 each I found. As for the wine list, it’s OK but not examplary, but hey this is a spirit and cocktail bar after all.

This bar is only a puppy at the age of 1 week old. I went there on its 3rd day of being open, and absolutely loved it. Its about time Broadway Market had a bar like this. It is an American style cocktail and wine bar, but is also open during the day for tea, coffee and chocolates. With its beautiful wooden tables and ornate candle holders, the place is incredibly romantic. It is particularly enticing around this time of year when the windows are all fogged up, and you need a place to escape the cold. I came with the preconception that it must be expensive, probably because it is so elegant. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that isn’t. You can get a lovely bottle of beer for about 2 pounds, I recommend Samuel Adams. You really must go and check this one out, it is a friendly kind of bar that is well situated in the Broadway Market community.

What an odd place this is — you just want it to be really good — and the build up is amazing — you walk through a small archway onto metal stairs going down into an enchanting garden — with a series of stone plateaus going behind the building past a bizarre blue velvet Siamese twin sofa(on sale for £500.00!!) .into a back door into a low ceilinged basement galley space — You really should be rewarded with a totally original vision — but you are not . What lies here is a strange touristic moment — canvases covered in images of London kitsch but not kitsch enough and quite disappointing . It feels like you have entered Hyde Park railing where artisans have hung up there pictures of London for the foreigners to buy except you are in Broadway Market — it is a bit surreal… Odd the whole thing is odd…
