This pub almost looks more like a social club than a pub. I enjoyed visiting it from a nostalgia point of view more than anything else. It’s a locals pub, but not in the cheery ‘where everybody knows your name’ sensebut more in a ‘you ain’t from round ‘ere, are ye stranger?’. Still if I was local and a regular it would probably feel like a home from home.
They had one ale on tap. It didn’t say what it was unfortunately so we had to trust the assurance that it was ‘something like doom bar’that would be ‘Doom Bar’ thenbut it wasn’t the best pint of it I’ve had. I guess they don’t get many regulars ordering a pint of ‘unspecified ale’. Particularly if it is served with tiny encrusted morsel of something that looks like potatoe on the side of the pint glass as mine was.
