I’m not a huge Indian fan, but my husband is. So much so that each time we go in to olives we’re asked about his family, because he and his father both go in so often. While just a glance at the menu may lead you to think that the vegetarian options are very limited, it is not the case. If you ask the friendly servers, they will be happy to make almost any dish on the menu vegetarian. They will either substitute with paneer or vegetables. The food is some of the best Indian food I’ve had. The korma is excellent and creamy, and the rogan is tomato-ey and a good option if you aren’t into dishes that are too heavily spiced. My favourite dish is the paneer tandoor shashlik. It is flavourful, juicy because of the tomatoes and just all around delicious. I love getting a garlic naan with it and making mini wraps in my hand. There is also a meat option which I’m sure is just as good. I would also highly recommend the brinjal bhaji which is chopped and stewed aubergine. It is an example of how delicious aubergine can be. Beautifully soft and almost buttery and not at all spongey. My husband and all his friends rave about the prawn purée(which is not a purée as I feared). It has almost reached cult status in our group! The actual restaurant itself doesn’t have the best atmosphere and the toilets are downright frightening, but don’t let this put you off. You will usually have the run of the place. The food more than makes up for it! Whenever we eat Indian, it has to be from olives.

Google rate this 5 stars and that’s why we went(late at night). It’s not what you think though. They wash the dishes in the main eating area(the toilets also have washing up liquid in which I assume was also for plates!!) and the place looks like someones loving room/kitchen. But, in all honesty its a fun place with friends after drinks and the service was great, very friendly staff who even run out and buy your booze from around the corner(in the local corner shop). Went with a large group and everyone enjoyed their curry, even if the place was empty. If you’re in need of a curry, in the area and had a few to drink then give this a go. It’s a laugh and you’ll probably end up with some kind of funny story to tell friends on the next outing.

We had the butter chicken(8) with Naan and Chicken Saag(7) with steamed rice at this tiny little family joint. It is clear that this place is more for takeaways and delivery than it is for sitting and dining, as we were the only people in the restaurant and the phone was ringing off the hook. The service was pleasant the food was good, although not exactly what i’m used to. The saag is not creamy at all, but very flavourful. Butter chicken had a wad of butter in the middle. I may never come back again, but at least the food was good.

This is my favourite takeaway. It does great vegetarian food all cooked in olive oil(hence the name) and they do free delivery if your order is over twelve pounds. The aubergine dishes are delicious. Every dish comes perfectly cooked, and they will even do a takeaway mango lassi!
