O’Neill’s

Quite possibly the fanciest O’Neill’s I’ve ever set foot in (mind you, the only other branch I’ve ever visited is the one in Kingston, so I don’t have much to compare it with). Situated across the road from the British Library, this is an ideal spot for lunch once you’ve had your fill of the exhibits.
Upon entering, I let out an internal groan, because the place was rammed and noisy, with a huge projection of the rugby match on the wall. However, a friendly member of staff made a beeline for us, after he saw us looking around, and directed us upstairs.
The upstairs portion is much less of a Wetherspoons vibe — there’s plenty of seating and you have to wait to be shown to a table. It’s also lovely and quiet! They have an excellent selection of cocktail pitchers and one will set you back £13, which is pretty good value. I recommend the Spiced Apple if you’re a fan of cinnamon; it’s sweet and refreshing. The food menu is fairly eclectic. I opted for the vegetable curry and for £12 you get a lot of food! A nice big bowl of curry, with a good selection of veggies (I LOVE cauliflower and there was plenty of it, so I was instantly sold), with a bowl of rice, a generous serving of mango chutney and two poppadoms. I was asked if I wanted the add-​ons for £1.50 (pakoras, naans, etc.) but if I had eaten anymore I might have died, so I declined.
The service is prompt and courteous, they bring everything over to your table once you’ve ordered, drinks included, so no long waits at the bar while your cocktail is mixed together. The toilets here are like an ice box, and after I’d made use of them, I came out wishing I’d worn a bra with more padding…
Overall, a really pleasant branch of a chain pub with good value for money food and drink. Nothing fancy, but sometimes fancy isn’t what you want!

Acceptable food at a good price just across the road from King’s Cross station. Such a better option than staying in the hustle and bustle of the train station.
Food is on the better side of average, though you can tell there’s a certain reliance on microwaves and deep fat fryers. The Southern Fried Chicken I had tasted good, was very hot, but a tad greasy. Great value though especially considering central London location. Double southern fried chicken breast burger and a pint of lager cost just over £10. Service was surprisingly quick.

The experience was like going to a chain restaurant here in the states. It serves it’s purpose and it’s in a great location.

We have dined at O’Neill’s at Kings Cross/​St Pancras 3 times now. Each time we arrive in London, it’s our favorite place to unwind with a pint and a nice bite to eat. The staff have always been more than accommodating and we even emailed the corporate office at different times requesting ingredient listing, and they replied immediately! (Huge thank you to Karen & Tom!!!)
Our children always ask for the fish n chips, as it’s not something commonly served where we live. My husband and I are fans of the stew, sandwiches, and jacket potatoes washed down with an ice cold cider and ale. The prices are some of the best in London! They do offer lunch specials with a drink (beer, soda, wine, etc)
The downstairs is more of the pub area, while upstairs is quieter with more families seated. They also offer outdoor seating so you can watch the world go by, as it’s a busy area located directly across the street from St Pancras and Kings Cross. Definitely recommended.

Nice pub with a welcoming atmosphere, very convenient for a quick dinner or a drink after work. The pub is usually busy but it is big and well set out so it still feels roomy and is easy to find a free table, except when they are playing live music. It is open till late and they serve food till 10 pm.
The room upstairs feels more like a restaurant. They take the order at your table and bring both the food and drinks to you. Downstairs you have to order, pay and collect your drinks at the bar.
They serve a bit of everything, from burgers to jacket potatoes to more traditional pub food and Sunday roasts and the portions are usually of a good size. Desserts are 2×1 and, even for me that I love a sweet treat too much, massive!
The service is attentive without being overbearing and the food is good. Overall a good value for money place to eat.

We stopped here for a dinner few times when in London for the last time. Tasty big burgers and good beer/​cider.

Stopped here for dinner after an exhausting day of sight-​seeing. Food was good, nothing spectacular, but good quality and satisfying, service was extremely friendly and the drinks were moderately priced. Great place to stop for dinner and a drink.

Une chaîné de pub très connue en Angleterre donc ils n’ont rien de spécial, assez peu de personnalité mais ce sont des endroits qui ferment a 01h du matin tous les soirs de la semaine, ce qui n’est pas le cas de tous les pubs.
Le weekend, la plupart des O’Neills se transforment en clubs et accueillent la jeunesse londonienne jusqu’au bout de la nuit.
Ce n’est pas, non plus, le meilleur endroit pour manger !

Traditional English/​Irish pub. I have not eaten here, but have enjoyed a number of pints ;) I usually stay at the Marriott Renaissance St-​Pancras across the street and instead of paying 9 GBP for a pint, O’Neils charges 3.50 GPB. Nice walk up bar with good beer on tap choices such as London Pride and Doombar! easy going atmosphere, great for a quick pint before going back to my room.

Wonderful typical English Pub. Bien que ce soit une chaîné de bar anglais, il est vraiment à l’image des pub anglais ou écossais. Une ambiance chaleureuse, une carte complète, de bonnes bières et cidres irlandais. Et en prime pour les amoureux du sport, des écrans pour les nombreux événements sportifs. À à peine 50m de la sortie de la gare.

Nice traditional Irish pub I can say that the guys really tried when they decorated the place it really looks authentic and they even have some classic Irish brews at their shelves. I’m not that big beer fan but I love coming here and hanging out with friends.

This chain pub is in a good location — near the King’s Cross St. Pancras station and the British Library. We went for lunch on a weekday around 1:00 and it was very busy but we managed to find a table and ordered at the bar. The lunch menu was a great deal price-​wise. The food took a long time to arrive, probably because they were slammed. I had the Chicken & Mushroom Crockpot which was ok… bland and greasy and I couldn’t find any mushroom «essence» to speak of. I was ok with it though because I just wanted some warm comfort food. My husband had the Sausages & Colcannon which looked really good. The ladies’ toilet was shabby and smelled like urine. It could use a good fix and cleanup. For Americans, I would compare this to an Applebee’s or something like that. It worked for us at the time and place but I wouldn’t hurry back.

I got the distinct impression, having visited O’Neills with some of my few English friends, that aside from the obvious non-​traditional pub nature of the place, it’s main redeeming quality is that it’s open late. This worked in our favor as we got out of a concert in the King’s Cross area and wanted a glass of mulled wine before turning in.
It’s a huge place though, which is a good for staying open late in an area that I think is largely underserved by good pubs. Basically, north of Theobald’s road, the pubs are small and close early, and if you are traveling through and want a… fair demonstration of what a pub can be like, O’Neill’s is good enough. It’s not the kind of place that would become your local though.
I don’t know if they have food, if so, I didn’t try any. The location is fantastic, on Euston Road. Other than that, if you’ve got the time, explore the other pubs in the area for a more authentic experience. If you just want a quick one late at night, O’Neill’s is your place.

Good pub grub. Across the street from Pancras Station, it’s a big busy chain pub. But the staff was very accommodating to Americans not knowing the British pub procedures. And the food was pretty good. Atmosphere was what it is suppose to be in a busy British pub. No complaints.

Yes this is a chain pub.
The location is very convenient to the train station for those with time to kill, the menu is one that you know will not change, the drinks of standard quality (if slightly watered down), and the staff are friendly.
Not a pub I would go out of my way for as the tables are sticky, the toilet a bit rough around the edges, and again the drinks are watered down.
If you are a tourist I highly recommend visiting pubs other than a chain in order to get a better experience, but if you are stuck on time and need to find a place to meet for an informal pint this works just fine

This O’Neills is very clean and had an incredible location sitting right outside the Kings Cross section. The food here was very good and the service was fantastic. My friends and I get burgers there and they are fantastic. You do have to pay a pound extra for cheese which is crazy excessive. Should be free. The lunchtime prices are also spectacular which you don’t see that often around here.

This place was recommended to us by a tour guide. We asked where we could get delicious fish and chips. He told us to go to his local Irish bar and get some Guinness. We didn’t know it was a chain until we saw a few more later on our trip but it’s still a good place to go.

I can make a better steak at home and I can’t make a steak for shit. In other words, this was the worst sirloin steak I’ve ever had. Add to that it was probably 15 minutes after I sat at the table that I was asked for my order (including drink), the (mostly) horrible music on the (absolutely) horrible sound system and this goes down as one of the worst decisions I made on my visit to London. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is because it stays open (and serves food) later than other pubs in the area. And that counts for something when you’re hungry from drinking all day and having expended your last bits of energy on a bike ride around the park. But screw off with your shitty music and even shittier speakers. I think it’s time for me to leave.

While studying in London, my friends and I would come to O’Neills on Euston for an occasional meal or drink.
The food is definitely affordable — I don’t think I paid more than £7 each time I was here. However, the quality is only so-​so. I remember ordering fish and chips here and although every was perfectly edible, both the fish and the chips seemed to have been cooked from a frozen package. For dessert, the sticky toffee pudding is actually pretty tasty, especially if you request it with English custard.
If I were still in London, I would probably come back now and again.

This is a very handy pub for me, as I work in the British Library opposite. The staff are very friendly and they remember their regulars. If you do visit, watch out for a waitress/​bar person called Emma, she is very fast at bringing your food to the tables and although she is small in stature, she has the biggest smile I’ve ever seen. Has a wheelchair toilet, but has steps to get in and out of the pub. Update: The manager mentioned that she was going to have a competition for the ‘Best Irish Stew’. Details should be on the web site, or ask in the pub. Good news, I’m a bad cook so i won’t be in the competition.
