I so wanted to love this place and maybe if I come back for afternoon tea, I will. I came on a Sunday, after hearing lots of good things and was surprised to find it empty. The seating area is great with a sofa and comfortable seating. I love how it feels like being at home. Such a homely place! I ordered a salmon and avocado salad and well, it was just ok. It lacked flavour, maybe if there was a dressing, it would have tasted much better. They have a gallery downstairs which is quite cool, and the staff are super friendly, so I’d definitely come back, it just didn’t hit the mark on this occasion.

Came here for afternoon tea a little while ago with some out-of-town guests, and we had a truly delightful time. From the cat and dog-themed plates to the giant slabs of cake, I was thoroughly impressed. The owner Giuliano was very friendly and even baked us fresh scones that were just gorgeous. Home-made jam and delicious veggie sandwiches completed the feast(my particular favourite was the rocket and goats cheese!). There was so much left over actually that we had a serious snack the next day and it all still tasted fresh! Special mention must go to the quirky-fun décor here — especially considering that this edge of Dalston doesn’t have(m)any choices for English afternoon tea! Can’t recommend enough :)

Got a great deal from amazon local for £22 tea party for two! It’s a really nice little tea house and art gallery, where you can sit comfortably and met friendly people from the area. The tea selection are quite good, ranging from green tea, jasmine, darjeeling, earl grey to honey ginger. I loved how they randomly match the tea cups, plates and pots to add uniqueness to this place. All of the food are homemade and fresh from the oven. The scones were warm when served and all the sandwiches were freshly made when my friends and I came. The owner himself served our tea and he was really nice and offered himself to take a group picture of us. This place has a lovely tea room at the basement and it looks like a living room of an old British lady’s house. It’s nicely decorated and quite enough to have privacy with friends. During the afternoon they are very busy and seems like the locals know this place.

I discovered this place by chance on my way to the Vortex Jazz Club. This is a nice arty little café, a good place to spend some time. Unfortunately I was a little bit late, so couldn’t check out their food, but the menu sounded interesting. If you’re in the area and you’ve never been at the Other Café and Gallery, I think it’s a place worth visiting!

Nice little café & gallery space recently opened up on Balls pond road. Interior is pretty, music is world & the atmosphere is cosy & relaxing. Staff are quiet & friendly. Free Wifi! Food is good — mix of English breakie, eggs benedict, pastas, soups, sandwiches. Coffee was nice too(usual coffees including flat whites). I wasn’t blown away by the food or coffee but I will definitely return for the actual café itself. Nice addition to the area!
