Top(encore!)

Great place for a brunch date — an open, airy space set around a central kitchen station with a nice buzz from the steady flow of people coming in through the door — some with puppies, some with pushchairs, some for breakfast, some for a coffee with the morning papers. It’s a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to linger(much to the annoyance of the queue forming at the door no doubt!). I had the veggie breakfast, a last minute choice after spying the generous portion of the person sat next to me(always good to have a look around first!). It paid off, with poached eggs on sourdough accompanied by some nicely grilled halloumi and lovely flavours from mushrooms tossed with thyme and roasted tomatoes. My latte also hit the spot nicely. I felt a little rushed by our server at the end when she claimed not to know what cakes they had baked fresh that day — I don’t think she expected me to wander around to the opposite side of the counter to find out for myself! But a slice of something lemony with two spoons rounded things off nicely :) On the pricey side then, as brunch venues in this area continue to push the boundaries of what they can charge for eggs on toast. But a good choice when you feel like a treat!

It has been a long time coming. Working up to Christmas and organising last minute holiday plans, I bring a new blog post for the new year. Brunch has to be one of my favourite meals, and you know when you visit a café, you are looking for that meal that just hits the spot. I had been meaning to check out Ozone Coffee Roasters last year after seeing them at the London Coffee Festival and also being from NZ I am a bit bias as the company and café are NZ owners. The inside has a very chic industrial vibe with the kitchen open in the middle of the café. Your classic mushrooms on toast bring a something little different mixed with onions and topped with crème friache and emmental. I thought it was seasoned well and was a good portion size, I just wish the food came out a bit hotter. I think from watching the chefs serve up the food, the plates sit on the side for a tad too long whilst plating and heating up the plates could make a huge difference. My dining chum had a few more complaints however. He found the bubble and squeak overpowered the dish, and the pork cheek was a bit lost between that and the hollandaise sauce. However huge thumbs up for perfectly cooked eggs. Overall a few hits and misses, but would return again and would recommend it to fellow diners. Popped in for coffee a few weeks ago and forgot to write a review. Ozone coffee is noisy, crowded, and didn’t seem the perfect co-working space which I was on the look out for, despite its seemingly inconspicuous location just off Old Street. I decided to come to Ozone anyway, because the sound was partly down to the continuous roasting of coffee beans. Fresh coffee roasted on site? Good sign. I got a soya cappuccino and my partner got a soya flat white. We also shared a cinnamon raisin brioche. The coffee was beautiful, delicious and the soya milk didn’t curdle. We weren’t supposed to share the brioche, as my partner wasn’t hungry, but he gave in; difficult not to given how amazing it smelled and tasted. It was on the pricey side for a breakfast place, but the coffee is top notch. Not a great place for a quiet conversation or working outside of the office, not cosy, but delicious coffee and baked goods. Maybe I will be back for brunch.

Popped in for a nice cup of coffee with a friend — enjoyed this buzzy, quirky venue. Great range of coffees and staff who are enthused about their products. Food looked yummy — I think a return visit will happen before long! A great place for a caffeine hit.

Ozone Coffee — big fan! Last Saturday, famished wandering the London streets, trying to find somewhere to satisfy my hunger pangs when I stumble across this little gem. I was lucky enough that there wasn’t a large queue an was seated within 5 minutes — yayy. Sat at the kitchen-bar area gave me a great glimpse into the guys making my eggs and i was particularly mesmerised by one tattoo’d guy scrambling eggs in about 30seconds over what seemed to be the world’s hottest pan! On the plus side, I now know what kind of hob I want in my future kitchen! My eggs were delish as was the sourdough I had them on. My coffee was amazeballs and obviously my newfound coffee persistence is having an effect of(necessarily) decreasing my caffeine sensitive because I didn’t have my usual jittery buzzingness afterwards! There was a bit of food-envy courtesy of the guy next to me who had the veggie breakfast but all-in-all, a great experience and wonderful food :)

I liked the atmosphere here… But the food? At least for what I ordered, not so much. I ordered the eggs benedict on bubble n squeak cakes, it kinda wasn’t my thing. The dish tasted sour-ish, probably due to the hollandaise sauce. I didn’t like the whole combination. Well, I probably just ordered the wrong dish since it’s my first time trying it. it wasn’t for me. So I’m probably biased. Seeing all the reviews which speaks highly of this place, I might give it another chance. I’ll give 3 stars for now as I can’t lie to myself but I might come again to try something else next time.

Came here for a relaxing coffee and cake. Place is too stiff and uptight !! Asked for a takeaway coffee and pastry and then saw some nice empty benches to sit on so asked if I could sit. Wow! This was a problem!!! I was told I could not sit on benches(counted 5 – 6 spots free) and needed to ask hostess to seat me first. Basically lug my coffee and pastry and wait in a queue!! Finally told by another staff member I was permitted to sit in the empty space available. Phew!!! thanks! After this staff basically ignored me and were difficult with any further orders I made.

Une adresse qui rentre directement dans ma catégorie«to come back» !

Great brunch place(also does dinners) near Old Street. They have a huge coffee selection and different options on how its prepared. Their food menu is typical brunch food — eggs, toast, etc — tasted good, but nothing surprising about it other than the fact the food came out super quick. We were sitting next to the open kitchen they have so it wasn’t pre-prepared food or anything, the chefs were just very effective. Downstairs area is really unique with the coffee roasting machine and big bags of coffee being stored… nice quieter place to sit. Staff really friendly and helped find us a little nook for all the luggage we had(last stop until we headed out to LCY). Definitely would go again.

It was a sad day when this no longer became my morning coffee local. But I still have a lot of love for what the guys and girls at Ozone are doing. Their coffee is probably in my top three of roasters in the country — high praise indeed. Even better is that it’s made within the industrial, New York looking building they call their home just around the corner from Old Street tube. This place can get busy, so if you’re looking to eat here — which you should — try an early morning weekend trip or just after lunch on a week day. Honestly the breakfast selection is simple but inventive to keep it interesting & their selection of sandwiches and other lunch time picks are top notch without the pretension of some other coffee shops.

Ozone are coffee roasters but also happen to have a restaurant and in the basement they have a full sized coffee roaster too! I’m always on the look out for great breakfast spots as I’m a bit of a skylark and I always wake up hungry! A lot of places that do a breakfast menu tend to offer standard breakfast options. So I really love it when there’s a bit of a twist, great example would be places like Dishoom’s Bacon & Egg Naans(you’re missing out if you haven’t had one yet!). Though this isn’t at all earth shattering, it’s at least different! The menu is seasonal, so we got the Autumn menu. Eggs Benedict minus the boring bland English Muffins, replaced with bubble & squeak… yummy! The sweet potato rosti is quite a large plate but the mixture of the flavours were just perfect and really does full you up for hours on end! They have seating around the kitchen which let’s you keep an eye on the chefs as they prepare the food. Overall, a nice little restaurant for a small group of friends or on your own to get some alone time(bar seats)… Like it! #greedymoo #londonfoodie #foodporn #breakfast

Bonne adresse.

I recently moved to this area for work and my friend recommended this place for lunch. Such a wonderful restaurant! The décor is lovely with wooden finishes and cute milk bottles for water. The staff are really friendly and I got a seat by the window because it was sunny. My friend and I ordered the portobello mushroom on sourdough and I got a skinny late and apple walnut cake to go. All, incredible, mouth-watering choices!

Loved. Really quality, well made coffee and breakfast(toast and eggs) to go along with it. The space is really beautiful, with lots of natural light and seating. They also play good music and have free wifi. We went to a lot of coffee shops while we were in London. Many of them were good. This was my favorite.

5 stars for coffee, 2 stars for food. Been here twice now and it’s definitive that they need to fix the food here. It has a lot of potential given the beautiful space and excellent coffee. I had the toasted fruit bread with butter and jam. The bread itself was underwhelming, not that hot, and the butter is hard as a brick. It doesn’t make for an enjoyable toast experience. I also had the omelette. I expected it to have the capsicum inside the eggs, but it was more like an onion omelette and there was so much oil! It was just flavorless and not nice. The coffee though is the saving grace. Well made and presented. Coupled with pretty good service, makes this place worth visiting.

Oooooh yes — perfect spot for a healthy and delicious breakfast. I sat right next to the open kitchen watching the cook work his magic on every single dish that rolled over the counter for the waitresses to grab. A but pricey, but its literally an eye candy what they put on the table(see pictures). The only thing I have to grumble about is how they cook their egg benedicts — too hard inside. Maybe it’s preference but I want my eggs benedict runny! Truth be told — I didn’t request a runny egg but my friend did and yet she got one that was waxy inside. Fun fact about the staff: Overall extremely lovely and funny people that provide great customer service, except of one girl that rolled her eyes on us when my friend asked for a new runny egg. Probably had a bad day — we told her that it’s no bueno, she appologised — all good. Will be back!

I’ve been coming to Ozone for years now and I have to say it always gets the double thumbs up from me. I live in Manchester but considering a couple of years ago I used to live/work 3 – 4 days a week in Shoreditch it was regularly on my list to hit! I was back in town after a long sabbatical last week and things haven’t changed a bit, a lovely chilled environment — busy as hell but still feeling comfortable, with me even bumping into a couple of friends I hadn’t seen for ages. It really has got that ‘Cheers’ everyone knows your name feel! Coffee is excellent(I drink their Hudson blend up here at Federal in Manchester) and their cakes and snacks are fantastic. I also hear their open in the evenings now for dinner — I really must get here in the evening soon!

My cold brew coffee came in a little old-school milk bottle, and was delicious. Can’t really get more Shoreditch than that. I’m sure there’s a plethora of beautiful looking places to drink fashionable coffee in, but Ozone hit both important points: it’s beautiful looking, well furnished with solid booths, cool bar seats at the centre-feature kitchen; and it does really delicious food, and good coffee. It was pretty cool to watch them flame grill a whole bunch of bright red peppers, and I’ve been told on good authority that it’s a great place to learn how to poach an egg, whilst eating your own lunch. And my meal of poached eggs(I actually forgot to watch them cook them, ha), smashed herbed avocado, mushrooms and fries was delicious. The portion of fries was huge too. The menu covers good breakfast basics, good salads, good cakes, good mains(chicken breasts etc), and that aforementioned hipster cold brew coffee(which was really, really good). They’re also now open in the evenings till late, which I think is a new thing. If I lived nearby(I’ll never be hipster enough though) I’d definitely come here for Sunday brunches and midweek lunches.

OMG! I was looking at some old reviews on my favourite website while I noticed I never made a review of Ozone. HOWISITPOSSIBLE?! Damn, Unilocal should really give you an advice, something like«hey you come here once in a week and you never wrote about this place, what’s happening?!». Once a week(at least!) in fact, I came here for a coffee. Why? Easy: BESTCOFFEEINTOWN. Seriously. No even more, this is no coffee, this is liquid crack. It’s perfect. You know when you meet your half? he guy/girl you say to yourself«hey, this is the one»? Well, apply this to coffee. That’s what Ozone is. Your half, toasted and roasted. But it’s not only the coffee, when I do really want to indulge myself, I come here for another dish: benedict eggs! Everything in the dish is perfect, the egg, the potatoes, the sauce. It’s just incredible! Somebody else(silly people not understanding the value of benedict eggs: P) told me there are some other dishes too, but I’m sorry I’m not moving out from my perfect dish! It’s just as good as it gets! You know in Italy they say«Visit Naples then you can die». Nope, that’s wrong. Drink Ozone coffee and then you’d wish to live forever and have it over and over every day up to the end of time!

We went there with high expectations since it is one of the best rated brunch places in London on Unilocal.Nevertheless, we were breathtaken by the eggs benedict(a must!) and the really the lovely interior. Last but not least, the staff was very friendly and food got served fast. Only drawback might be the rather high prices; but being in London, it may also be difficult to find something cheaper for the same quality. Therefore, we went again the other day and enjoyed another top brunch.

Todavía no he encontrado unos huevos tan ricos en Madrid. Challenge accepted!

Enjoying a morning French press of Ther’i Ab light roast Kenyan. Excellent coffee. Had the lemon cake for tea yesterday and the deliciousness rolled our eyes back into their sockets to nearly the point of no return. Remember, we’re Yanks and have neither the sophistication or palates of Londoners. One of the best coffees I’ve drunk anywhere from Antarctica to Portugal. Makes the home town roasters seem like a lot of bean-burners.
