Great pad Thai and rice w chicken plus the vegetable soup with chicken. Good food. Nice spot for dinner.

I’ve been here many times over the years and it’s always been absolutely amazing. Best pad Thai and spring rolls ever. My friends had the jungle curry and the salmon. They also said there’s was incredible. Highly recommend

Papaya salad appetizer was tasty. Ultimate pad Thai is huge and fulfilling. Not the best Thai ever, but definitely not the worst either. Worth a trip.

I’m not usually inclined to write a review without having eaten at a restaurant, but having had delivery and subsequently visiting(and leaving) this restaurant I feel entitled to share my obviously important opinion. I’ve ordered delivery maybe 5 times in my life and thought the 4⁄5 times were passable(bordering on bad) the final order was gross so decided never again. Fast forward a year or two and I’m working at Starbucks and decide, fuck it I’ll give these thai bros another chance. They open at 12 and when I arrive at 12 the server says the chef hasn’t arrived yet and to return in 15 minutes. If the chef hasn’t arrived what likelihood is it that they’ve prepped fresh ingredients for the day? Still, I return and grab a table in the underground(and decidedly not very romantic or pleasant) dining room. I’m already having doubts but am hungry so again, fuck it, it’s just lunch. I pop to the loo and discover two things: the restaurant is filthy dirty, esp the toilet, and from the looks of it the kitchen is even worse, and the chef is a young looking Indian dude. While race has nothing to do with cooking ability, it was irksome nevertheless. Rather than get possible food poisoning and a certainly shit lunch I beelined to the exit and ran to Yashin for a terrific and authentically prepared sushi lunch(Japanese chefs, clearly freshly prepped ingredients, and YOLO).

Excellent food an good portions at reasonable prices for the area. A curry and rice is about £13/14 which is excellent value. The restaurant is well decorated and the friendly staff make it very welcoming. Its not very visible from the street and the entrance is just a doorway between shops but it is really worth paying a visit. You’ve got to try it!!!

Although I live in the area, I hadn’t heard of this restaurant until a recent date took me here. We had a shared starter and then a selection of different dishes(fish and chicken); the food was superb and the lady that served us was soo sweet and helpful. We were then joined by the owner, a glamourous and stunning woman, who got me a Baileys and we just enjoyed a brief chat before we left. The décor inside is neutral and modern, but the only thing that lets it down is that it’s on the basement level(no windows), so you don’t have any view of the outside, other than that, perfect location on High St Kensington. If you look at their website, you’ll find that Michael Winner(a hard critic to please, referring to his Dining Stars programme) wrote a review of the Papaya Tree in the Sunday Times: ‘It’s a simple place, but the taste of the food was excellent’ — which sums up the place very well, I think.

Good thai food frequented by customers who also appreciate good food. You can get the same elsewhere at a lower price, this is a mid to slightly higher priced restaurant. Full meals start from about 20 pounds per person for a full course meal but that excludes drinks and service. It is in a windowless basement that is very nicely decorated so to us did not matter, but worth pointing out. A good choice, but not the best of the best when it comes to value.

If you like to pay big prices for bad, cheap-quality food — with good profit margins for the owners — then this is the place for you! Great for a chicken red curry that’s all sauce with only a few measly slivers of chicken hidden inside. Perfect if you like beef salad with almost no beef. And when you do get a piece, it’s a tiny cheap cut that’s chewy with gristle. If you want good quality Thai food and decent prices — DON’T eat here.

I had a love-hate relationship with this place when I visited London. Once you find the place(which in all actuality isn’t THAT tough), the ambience is great. I went there for a romantic evening and it was just that. White tablecloths, soft music(but not corny), tea lights, etc. I’ll start with the hate part of the relationship: My dish was just too bland. I had Pad See Ew, and it had virtually no kick to it. The dish of course isn’t a «hot» dish, but this almost had no spice to it at all. I’m not sure if they do this to all of their noodle dishes, but it certainly put a damper on the meal. Now for the love part: The chicken was amazingly good/tender with the Pad See Ew. I grew up(and still am) a very picky eater and was(and am) a chicken connoisseur. This was amazingly good. But the part that blew me away was this was where I was introduced to Tod Mun Pla. Its now one of my favorite dishes, and this actually did have some spice to the sauce so it was great. Everything about this appetizer was perfect, and when I came back before I left all I had was this. I’d give this 3 ½ stars for the ambience, and the hope that I was just unlucky on my noodles being bland. The staff is also very friendly, and everything is neatly displayed and explained on the menu which allows for people to know what a dish is without the embarrassment of asking.

This is the best Thai food I’ve ever had. Finding the place can be a bit of a challenge. There’s just a small awning in orange that says«Thai food» or something like that. You head downstairs, into a lower level cozy restaurant. The white décor and soft candlelight lends a warm welcoming feeling to The Papaya Tree. As you’re seated, you’re left feeling as though you’ve found a hidden treasure. The softly cracked modern art on the walls keeps away a pristine untouchable feeling and instead makes the space feel lived in and loved. The food selections are daunting. Pages and pages of options! However, don’t worry if you’re not a big Thai food type person. Everything is neatly explained for the less experienced in this style of cuisine. The waiters and waitresses are keen to keep you from feeling pressured and work hard to be diligent and yet stay out of your way. There are plenty of non-spicy options on the menu. The curries are gently spiced allowing a myriad of flavours to surface. The presentation is wonderful. And be sure to try the golden bananas for dessert. Out of this world. I can’t say enough about this restaurant. Their lunches are very reasonable priced(especially for this area) and their dinners make for a great date night.

Best sticky rice ever! Of the many Thai restaurants I have visited, this has the best, most authentic food ever. The food, while not fast, is freshly prepared and delicious. The staff are attentive and friendly and my tummy simply is not big enough to nom all I wish to nom :-)
