We stopped in here to have tea and a meringue today. The meringues were huge and beautiful. All the other baked goods looked great too. The tea was mediocre, nothing special. The meringue was good. The service was not good. The staff seemed quite annoyed with us for no reason. They seemed bothered by our order and impatient even though there was no one else in line. We asked for water and it was treated as a big inconvenience. I don’t think we would go back.

I’m not usually a fan of chains, but Paul has a slight edge here I think. I mostly just stopped in while waiting for the other half so we could go to Jermyn St and do some wedding shopping, and I needed a pick-me-up. I ordered a cappuccino, which was fairly standard as they go. Nothing special. But I did happen to notice that they had Caneles sitting in the display case. I make them at home sometimes, and I fell in love with them in Saint-Emilion, so I ordered one as well. It’s not quite as satisfying sitting in a shop in London eating one as it was eating them walking through the streets of Saint-Emilion, but it was still good!

I have been to this particular branch many times when visiting London and I am always excited to try the sandwiches and baked goods. The service is always very good and there is hidden seating in the back to the left if you come in on Piccadilly.
