I had heard nothing but wonderful things regarding Pizza Hut in the UK. I was not disappointed when I tried a restaurant version in Cardiff, Wales. However, I unfortunately made the decision to try a delivery location. Walthamstow. According to the website, this was the closest delivery location for my hotel. I placed the order online and patiently waited for an hour and a half. After no word during this time, I called the location and politely requested information regarding my order and why it was taking so long. The person I spoke to was rude and short with me. He insisted it was my fault for ordering from the wrong location(despite the website saying they were my delivery location) and that they would not delivery my food. I asked why they did not call me or the hotel if they could not deliver, but was refused an answer. I requested the charge be reversed then, but again, I was refused and told I would have to call another location to receive my food. I politely requested the number of the location, but was refused the information. I was then hung up on. I went down to reception and asked if there was another Pizza Hut location in the vicinity. I explained the situation and the exceptionally kind receptionist called the offending location on my behalf. The man on the phone spoke rudely to her as well and insisted that they had called the front desk, but the receptionist very calmly and patiently continued to point out that she was working the front desk the entire time from the moment the order was placed to then. She was very firm in her insistence that either the location delivery the promised food or they reverse the charge. The location refused, but did finally give a customer service number that, unfortunately would not be of use until after the weekend had passed. The man she spoke with(who sounded as if he was the manager on duty at them time) was Shahdaz. This was the person who refused to reverse the charge to my credit card and refused to deliver the promised food. It has taken nearly three weeks to resolve the issue as I was indeed fully charged. And despite it being a false charge, I am still responsible for the foreign transaction fee it acquired and the exchange rate had drastically changed by the time the charge was reversed so I have only received back part of my money. This is posted as a warning particularly to foreign travelers in that area of the UK to exercise caution if they choose to use their credit card. Even if you have a swipe card that requires a signature upon delivery, the location can and still will charge you despite refusing to deliver. This particular location is one that nearly soured me completely to Pizza Hut. I hope this particular delivery branch does not last as they are such a detriment to Pizza Hut’s image. I will certainly never not only order from this location again, but I will never order delivery from Pizza Hut again when visiting the UK. This location should be avoided like the plague.
