Pristine Dry Cleaning

Took a child’s coat in to have the zip replaced and was quoted a fairly reasonable £13.50. After 11 days (it should have been ready in 7) they called to say it would now cost £39.50 to replace the same zip! When I queried the threefold price increase they said it was because they would have to replace the zip, not repair it — but they’d already quoted to replace the zip and written it on the receipt. I remarked that £39.50 was a lot of money for a small zip and was dismissed with «speak to the manager about that». Ok, so they obviously didn’t want to do the repair, but why on earth didn’t they just say they couldn’t do it when I first took the jacket in, instead of making me wait a week and a half then coming up with a ridiculous price to put me off? Not impressed.
