Had dinner here with my mom, sister, and a friend – was pleasantly surprised! I was looking for an Italian place in central that had a decent amount of vegetarian options, and this one won the ten minute google search. The atmosphere is really cosy because half the restaurant space is taken up by the pizza kitchen/oven. It’s classy, I promise. And promotes the feel that you’re in a family owned Italian restaurant. It was a Tuesday night so we were seated immediately. I think our waiter was new – he kept awkwardly hovering over us /lingering just a *little* too long for no apparent reason. But for some reason it didn’t bother me too much – we all just chuckled at it. Otherwise the service was very welcoming and friendly, always a plus. Also, side note, this was my visiting American(slightly loud) mother I was taking out, and this place seemed used enough to tourists that I wasn’t blushing in my seat. So parent /out-of-town guest approved too. Food: Insalata Tricolore – maybe I’m an Italian no0b but are these usually brought to the table with only the tomato sliced? I’m talking a whole half of an avocado face down on the plate and a ball of mozzarella. The ingredients were fresh and delicious and there was balsamic vinegar on the table to add to taste but it felt a little like I was making my own salad. Again, I might be just unseasoned when it comes to Italian food. Mushroom Linguine – super tasty, slightly sweet tomato sauce, large portion, yum! Ravioli Napoletana – ricotta and spinach filling was great but wasn’t a fan of the pasta dough itself Overall, I was very happy with my choice to come here. The food was good and I’d like to try more of the vegetarian items on the menu. It’s a calm little getaway from the mad bustle and noise of Soho.

This is the best Italian in London by FAR. I have never had pizza here, but have had a lot of the pastas. Lasagne is the one for me. Plenty to eat, and some to take home. It is the best to sit in the window and watch life go by.

I went there few days ago for a late lunch as it was one of the few places that had there kitchen open at the time, I had the bruschetta which was cheap in quality not the price then I had a fantastic linquine de mare that made up a bit. And the prices are quite reasonable, what lets this place down is the service, which was on the rude side.

My friend and I dined at Pulcinella last night. A truly mediocre experience. The linguine Frutti di mare(baby clams-squids-mussles and prawns) were served without baby clams. I wasn’t informed that they run out of baby clams and more prawns were added without my consent. When asked why I wasn’t told none of the waitress seemed bothered on apologizing. Second pasta dish Farfalle al Salmone, was also changed as they didn’t have salmon but we were told about it so no big fuzz. please manager sort your stock out. When I asked them if we could move to the table outside to finish our dinner we were asked for a credit card, probably scared we would run away without paying. To show a bit of concern about this unprofessional and non-polite request I also asked two coffees, one tiramisu to be served once we finished our wine. plus the bill. They served us two tiramisu(I asked for one) the coffees without the bill. ???when our wine glasses were still full. When I complained about the service I was offered not to pay the service charge which was still on the bill when I paid. I paid the whole amount… At the end of the day… I’ve lost some money and didn’t totally enjoy the dinner but they have lost two possible regular customers. It is a shame that restaurant like this have no respect for people, locals as I, since they know them business will still survive with tourists. Shameful!

First want to say that this place has improved on décor. The place looks cleaner and brighter. Went in the late afternoon so was quite empty. The weather was beautiful and the front of the restaurant was open wide onto the pavement which was pretty much a perfect early evening meal setting. The waitress was great and attentive. Our Bruscetta starter was so fresh and light then we had the house Pizza the«Pulcinella» which was made and cooed infront of us. The pizza was incredible and huge! The beer was ice cold too! a definite recomendation!

Don’t fall for the hype in the previous posts. The Pizza is OKAY it’s seriously nothing to rave about. The server said something really rude when we came in mentioning that it’s a minimum 10 pounds per head… as if he had a feeling I had no money. Don’t know where he got that idea from. I won’t hold it against him. The portions are big. The pizza is okay not to-die-for. My friend got the Pollo al Limone… The chicken breast was well cooked but the side of peas and potatoes was bland and uninteresting. It was just okay thats all. Won’t be going back.

Great place to eat when out in Soho. Brilliant Calzone, friendly staff and a great place to watch the world go by. Very good value for money.

Surely my favourite pizza restaurant in Soho, if not in London. Typically thin and well cooked huge pizzas served in a cosy and freindly environment. Perfect for a pre or post theatre and worth a try also for the rest of the traditional Italian cooking on the menu. A little treat at a convenient price!

Think Andy Williams, nonchantlently hum«Music to Watch Girls By» and substitute music for a pizza/pasta and this pretty much embodies the prime position of Pulcinella Restaurant. It ain’t nothing fancy, the veal escalopes were probably not worth 15 quid but it doesn’t really matter. «Eye to eye, they solemnly convene to make the(gay) scene.» Video link:

I love, love, love, love Pulicinella’s pizzas. They are so gorgeous. I’m a huge pizza fiend as it is and this place is one of my many meccas! I particularly recommend the Pizza Pulcinella… The pizzas are made in house, on the spot and the smell and feel of the place is tremendous. If you weren’t a pizza fan before, you will be by the time you leave. It’s got such a nice feel about it, not big or corporate, more small and cosy. There’s lots for veggies too and an array of pasta dishes but it’s best to come and eat what Pulcinella, in my opinion, do best — pizzas. You will not be disappointed!

My husband is a pizza lover(ironically he is French) and he was the one who brought me to this place. We came so often at one point that we became friends with one the waiters and he invited us to his wedding, unfortunately we couldn’t go as it was in Albania and I was very heavily pregnant. They are always very friendly, even when they didn’t know us we were always greeted with a loud and warm Hello! Welcome… Those were the days… I miss it so much! The only problem is it’s quite a compact venue so coming in there with a stroller is not a good idea. When I do get to go back I will keep on ordering my specialty, Pizza Diavola, spicy pepperoni, bathed in extra spicy chilli oil, and a coke, a meal for less than £10. My favourite tables are near the oven(on the ground floor) because as a little girl I always used to watch the pizza makers playing with the dough, and it reminded exactly of that when I first saw the setting. I am glad that Pulcinella is not my neighborhood pizza, it would be a dangerous consumption of thin, crispy, cheesy and spicy pizza.

Old Compton Street has quite a few really good Italian restaurants to it’s name and Pulcinella’s is one of them. Although the place is quite compact it comes across as more homely than a nuisance. There is a huge traditional stone oven and it’s a joy to watch the skilled chefs toss the dough into the air until the base is nice and thin. There is a good selection and the wine is okay. I personally prefer Amalfi as i think it’s the better looking place with a bit more space, but this is also worth a try if you’re bored of there.
