Mighty fine curry in Tooting. Dig up the specialties, especially the cabbage with mustard seed. Cheap. Filling. Grand.

I’ve used to go here quite regularly with a friend who used to live nearby(and went weekly). She is always welcomed warmly by the staff who are friendly and generally attentive. The restaurant specialises in southern cuisine. We always get the chicken dopiaza and coconut parathas as well as poppadoms with dipping sauces to start. My friend also likes the masala dosa but I find it quite bland. I always remember the food being very satisfying but the last time I went I felt the quality of the curry could be better(having said that I’ve just been to Vij’s in Vancouver so my frame of reference is now pretty messed up) and overall felt quite disappointed, contrary to previous visits. I think next time I’m in Tooting I will try something different, although I’ll always have affection for this place as a classic local Indian restaurant.

Went to this restaurant the other day as there are so many indian restaurants to choose from in this area. In the end me and my friend decided on this one and wished we picked another. The staff could just about speak English and we had to tell them our order about 3 times, Anyway we did get the food we ordered and was looking forward to it but it was awful. The worst chicken korma I have ever had and very small portions. Won’t be coming back here again!

This is a lovely South Indian restaurant with good service from very friendly staff. Order the regional specialities rather than the usual bog-standard curries — the delicate fermented-rice pancakes are worth trying. 3 out of 4 of us liked our curries, and it was only £20 a head with starters, two bottles of wine and tip.
