Food was ok. Service extremely poor. If you’re looking for a nice meal, don’t come here. The service will put you off and it will spoil your night.

We had: Char Kuey Teow : Hokkien Mee Ice Kacang : Onde Onde They are all nice and authentic, especially the char kuey Teow. Nice service and the crowd keeps coming in. There was even a Malaysian tour dining while we were there.

Been here twice now and it definitely does a good job of reminding you of Singapore and Malaysia if you miss either. Is it «straight out of a hawker stall» authentic? No, but it is really, really good for being a world away in London. So yes, definitely come, and eat everything. You’ll start to get a sense of why so many of us rave about the food of SE Asia.

Food was quite good, to be honest, generous portion! We had chow kuey diao, fish ball noodle soup, Loh mee, and oyster omelette. All tasted quite good but obviously you can tell it was not a healthy meal(like any Oriental food, focus in flavour and heat). The milk tea was good too :) 4 stars because the kuey diao could see more meat/seafood in it, and the Loh mee can see a little more veggies. Maybe overall less salt too :) Certainly recommend though, especially in London this would be one of the rare gems for decent Asian food!

Refused to served only 2 Teh Tarik and Spring rolls which we wanted to snack before a movie. Apparently the restaurant has a minimum order of 8 pounds PERPERSON! Beware!!! IMHO all customers must be accepted no matter what the order is. First time I heard of a minimum order for a restaurant like this. Waiter was not even apologetic and treated us like second class citizens. An insulting experience.

My, how Chinatown has changed in the 10 years since I’ve lived in London. Back then, I would’ve given my left arm for a tasty Singo-Malay-Indonesian spot in this area. I won’t pretend I can judge Rasa’s authenticity, but I will say the food is extremely well made and bursting with flavor. Seafood lovers should dive into the Tamarind Assam Fish, as tender fish in fragrant, chile-filled sauce is a particular specialty of this region. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with the perennial Kueh Dadar, which Rasa does amazingly well. I’m not sure if that’s real pandan juice in there or just artificial flavoring, but the filling is spot on. Service is what you expect for a bustling Asian restaurant: brisk, efficient, but not altogether unfriendly. The clientele were a mix of Asians and non-Asians, but even if you’re dining alone, this is a place where you can really enjoy yourself.

Busy place in Chinatown with street level and basement seating. Pretty simple interior, service and food presentation, but the Nasi Lemak I had was very very close to what I had in Malaysia, so full points for authenticity. The desert(Cendol Ice, shaved ice with coconut cream, syrup, beans and jelly) was okay, but the beans were undercooked and the ice has sat too long which made the dessert watery and the ice clumpy. Overall a pretty good choice if one wants to try authentic Malaysian cuisine.

I have been there a few times as wanted a change from eating Chinese. it’s always a hot and miss when I try new dishes. The Nasi Lemak or Nasi Goeeng are OK but chicken is a bit dry. The beef randeng is good but all the noodles dish including Laksa were bland and lack taste or texture. it’s like if they have different chefs so not the same standard throughout the week. Also waiting staff not good at handling complaint when I said food was bland and said an earlier customer had praised the food so mine was a first complaint ! A good waiter would have offer a free coffee or tea to compensate.

Love this place. Love that there are so many Malay and Singaporean people eating here. Love the well intentioned but slightly disorganized service. And especially love the food. This is a great place for SE Asian comfort food so expect it to be a little spicy. Great rendang, great noodles, and the fish stew is excellent. Recommend eating family style so come with friends. Definitely one of the restaurants in London that I will return to; this was my second time. Also recommend C&R on Rupert Court. Price is around 15GBP per head, which is cheap by London standards.

NOWTHISISWHAT I AMTALKINGABOUT. This is THEBEST place in London to get authentic Singaporean cuisine. I’m born and bred Singaporean and this is where I go when I am homesick. The roti canai and laksa are pretty damn close to the real thing back home. As is their char kway teow and various mee gorengs. You can even get Ice Milo or Milo Dinosaur! And it’s not just me who thinks it’s authentic. Everytime I go there I always hear other Singaporean accents from the patrons around me and once even bumped into an old classmate from Singapore there! I take every new friend of mine to eat here seeing as they probably will never be able to visit me in Singapore so this is the next best thing.

The food is delicious here, and I’ve come several times, always with groups of 5 – 14 people. However, today I came with a group of 12, and the staff told us that we had to order £8 pounds per person. Since not all of us were that hungry, and the cost of an average dish there is just under £8, they were clearly insisting that we order more than we might want to, and as this wasn’t up for discussion, we all left. This was sad to me as the food is great and very affordable, but this time the service let us down.

If you’re famished, Rasa Sayang is a great place to dine! I’ve visited this restaurant countless times and each time, the food didn’t take more than 15 – 20 minutes to arrive. However, when it comes to the food, I don’t think Rasa Sayang is one of the best places for Malaysian cuisine in London(though I am from Malaysia myself, so I might be a little critical). Nevertheless, for quick service and satisfying portions, it’s a great place to go if you’re near Chinatown.

This place is the place to go! It is so delicious and a good price. I was excited because it was all of the dishes that I grew up eating in Singapore and it was up to standards. The meals are really cheap too wit appetizers(I always get the roti canai for 3.90) and meals in the 7.20 range. Really affordable(ANDDELICIOUS) for a university student budget. I always bring all of my friends here and even those who have not had Malaysian food, in the end, love it. P. S. Some recommendations are the Nasi Goring, Nasi Lemak, Hokkien Mee, Curry Laksa, among many. P. P. S. Also accepts AMEX!!!

Standard oil-slick aside, the laksa was decent here, though I should have gone for the hainan chicken and nasi lemak as recommended. The restaurant smells great! Big bowl of spicy soup and noodles will keep you going during Britain’s rain showers. The staff speak Cantonese, and are rather friendly. I’m coming back to try their spicy chicken and seafood noodle soup as well. Everything is around £7 or 8.

I got the Nasi Lemak as recommended and I really liked it! The coconut rice is delicious and the curry is very good. The only downside would be the price. I paid about $ 19 for that and water(which I forget you have to pay for in London).

We arrived at this restaurant around 830 on a Tuesday night and the restaurant still had many patrons. Like most of the eateries in London, this was very tightly packed. We ordered the curry chicken, hainan chicken, and bread with the curry dipping sauce. Our food was served promptly and the entrees were served before the appetizer. I thought the curry chicken portion was plentiful and I left very full, however DH hoped for a bigger portion of his dish. As far as flavor and style of the dishes, I have only one other Malaysian restaurant to compare it to in NYC. The curry flavor of my dish was very strong, which I prefer, but it did seems bit oily. Still, it was nice to try Malaysian food in a different country and see the variances. If we have the chance to come back to London, we would certainly give this place another shot.

You know you are in the right place when most of the customers are Asian, some were even Malays. Better still, talking to two Brits(Caucasian) in the table next to me, I found out that they are regulars; and one of them even lived in Malaysia and is married to a Malaysian. I had a spicy chicken and seafood noodle dish that was very good. The rest of the dishes looked and smelt great. I will definitely have to come back to try the rest.

This is a halal restaurant, and numerous families filtered through at lunchtime. We were in Malaysia earlier this year, and were ecstatic to see nasi lemak on their menu. The excitement was short-lived, however, as it arrived with large, dry chunks of chicken breast. The entire dish lacked depth and spice of flavor, including the pickled vegetables. Their kway teow was chock full of squid that could not be substituted with chicken, and tasted blandly monotonous. Malaysian food is known for its harmonious mix of delicious spices. This… tasted like soy sauce. Tables are positioned too close for comfort, and you may need to shimmy your way to your seat at someone’s shoulder. To their credit, however, orders arrive prompt and piping hot. The noise from talkative customers, however, can be overwhelming. Ask for the bill at your table. When it arrives, pay at the front.
