Rush in Aldwych is a lovely, quiet hair salon in the heart of busy London. On arrival, I was offered refreshments — including a range of teas, coffees and beer, then escorted to see manager and stylist Fotis. Overall, the haircut and blow-dry was a very attentive experience, he listened to my request and offered advice accordingly. I left the salon feeling like a million dollars! Highly recommend booking with Fotis at Rush Aldwych if you had bad experiences in other similar salons in London and the South East, he is an amazing hairdresser.

There isn’t any recent reviews of this place so I didn’t take into account the old ones and went in anyway. I have really tricky hair(lucky me!) and I mentioned that on the appointment call when requesting time and a half for an experienced stylist. They were very understanding and booked me in with the manager Fotis. When I showed up, there was a very warm welcome and was offered a drink while i was waiting. They serve the usual plus wine and beer which is refreshing to see! The staff were friendly and chatty and smiling and customers appeared to be receiving a personalised service. I was very comforatble. The manager was very funny and chatty. Listened to me but also offered his suggestions and advice, which is what i appreciate the most in this type of service. I value a place where I am offered solutions and advice and not just ask what I want. The service was great, the quality of the products and the time spent on me was fantastic. It goes without saying, the salon has won me as a customer.

I bought a Groupon for here. Unfortunately I didn’t end up using it because I’m dumb and didn’t read the T&C’s, but it led me to this salon anyway. I very unwisely dyed my hair black, and looked like a goth for a couple of months of this year. To be fair, the dye was MEANT to be dark with a hint of red, but it didn’t work out like that, obviously. I’ve been dyeing my hair various shades of red for the past three or so years now, so parting with that and trying to embrace my inner goth was just not working out… hence the need to go to a hairdressers and get someone to fix it for me. I ended up at Rush, seeing Freddie, who was actually very good. Chatty, funny, but not too in your face. He stripped my hair for me, talked about what colour we could achieve, and suggested a completely different hairstyle. I admire that in a hairdresser — they’re the experts, they’re supposed to have the balls to tell me what looks good on my face shape etc. Many don’t, however. I spent four hours with Freddie, and now a few weeks on, I can appreciate that he did a good job. I ALWAYS99.99999999% of the time walk out of the hairdressers hating the cut they have just given me, and with this hairstyle being SO different, it was no exception here. I stropped ALL day in fact. My boyfriend won me tickets to the Ideal Home Show at Christmas(he’s a keeper), and I stropped all through that too. Oops. Now I am actually quite loving the fringe, I wish that I had kept the length of my hair(which I had been growing for 4 + years!), but oh well! Rush is a chain hairdressers, and they do good offers from time to time so I recommend checking out their website or groupon(but make sure you read the T&C’s!!!), but this review is specifically for the Strand branch, and for Freddie. I am definitely a very fussy customer when it comes to hairdressers, so the fact that I would go back to him does speak volumes. I don’t think I have found my London hairdresser yet, but I like the fact that I have a potential there. The only reason I didn’t give it four stars, is that even with offers and discounts it is just so ridiculously expensive. Certainly not something I would be able to afford on the recommended 6 – 8 weeks cycle!

as soon as i got in, i was escorted downstairs where i was offered drink and biscuits. they have coffees, teas, juices i opted for peppermint. I enjoyed that while waiting for Cristina. I did end up waiting almost 15 minutes, however i was comfortable, and when Cristina showed up, she listened to my requests, looked at the pictures I had brought with me, and made her suggestions. After that I was taken to get the wash and the head massage, which both were excellent! Both the stylist, and the lady that washed my hair, kept reassuring me, and asking whether everything was okay, which put me and kept me at ease throughout my experience. The Groupon voucher was for £35 for wash, haircut, and blowdry, which is a BARGAIN, and I liked it enough to book for next time in a couple of months at 20% of regular price of around £65, so will pay about £49. I look forward to next time. In the mean time. i’m enjoying my new, lighter do!
