A huge place with a light, bright front room and a little seating out the front. I only tried the bucks fizz and canapés which were both OK. Service seems good although not the friendliest — probably because there was a whole hoard of people milling around in the way waiting for further instructions(I was there for a murder mystery type event around Baker Street). I didn’t really experience enough of the place to give a more positive review but there was nothing bad either!

Well despite the reviews on this restaurant we landed in this place as we had the opportunity while in London. Its has a kind of English man club feel. We we welcomed by the staff an was shown to choose a table of our choice which was nice. The servers were very nice and courteous. The food was very good and the Kitchen guys were quick in preparing the food. The starter choices were minimal but on the whole very exciting. the wine list was very extensive. The main course was very generous and worth it. I would go again if I live in London and had the kind of money to spend these sort of places. DB

Went here for a lunch simply because It was somewhere I had never been before and I’m of the philosophy that you must try everything once(where possible). We got there just after 12pm and we were the only people there! I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Poached Eggs to start with which was wonderful washed down with some Pimms. I was there with a client and we both had the Rib Eye Steak(it wasn’t semi Average). Had the 50% off food deal and a half bottle of wine — Bill came to £110.

Good food and they regularly have 50% offers etc making it great value when they do — not when they dont. Go for the food not the atmosphere.

I’ll just get this out first: we saw a mouse in the restaurant. One of our party arrived first, and saw the mouse, and alerted the waiter, so she was moved, closer to the kitchen. As we were just tucking into our desserts, all three of us saw the mouse, as it darted from the wall, under our table, and then over to another table full of diners. We screamed, and made a commotion, however it took a waiter a good couple of minutes to come over and investigate. They seemed so laidback about it, almost as if it happens every day, and didn’t seem to understand the whole restaurant’s diners’ anger at seeing a mouse over lunch. They offered us vouchers for a free lunch, but who in their right mind would want to return? So we turned them down, and said we’d much rather have the meal we just ate on the house. Considering we’d all had two bites of our desserts, and they laid almost uneaten in front of us, we were surprised they hesitated so long before agreeing to it. The head waitress came out and apologised, however we were shocked none of them seemed to apologetic or genuine in their sorrow over what happened — the three of us walked out and all agreed it felt like an everyday occurrence. The food itself was ok. My mushroom and butternut squash risotto was a very small serving, and had sliced cheese over the top — not the best quality. The whole dish felt rushed. The others seemed to like their fish, but it all looked rather bland and ordinary. The desserts were nothing amazing, in fact, the crumble seemed undercooked, with the fruit compote seeming to be from a can, and the crumble itself was little more than flour and butter rubbed together — more flour than crumble. The person who ate the two bites of the crème brûlée noted before the mouse incident that it was burned, and wasn’t very tasty. All said, I’d avoid this restaurant if I were you, however smart it may look.

Sherlock Bar and Grill is actually not themed on anything other than taking advantage of its Baker Street location to capitalise on the good name of one Sherlock Holmes. The restaurant is located to the rear of the lobby of the Park Plaza Hotel and behind the lounge bar so the contrast as we walked in at 6.30 tonight was quite astounding as we made our way through a loud and buzzing bar to an absolutely empty restaurant devoid of any atmosphere whatsoever. By the time we left the small restaurant was quite full — maybe something to do with hotel restaurants not getting busy until late. The menu is Modern Europen with a decent, if not particularly innovative, selection on their a la carte menu covering game, meat, fish and something for the vegetarian. Service was pretty decent tonight though at the beginning when there were not many diners one of the waitresses was strangely more pre-occupied with folding serviettes than seeing if anyone in the room needed her attention. We were taking advantage of 50% off food top table offer so the food was extremely good value for what we got. Though I wouldn’t say the Sherlock Bar and Grill was anything spectacular and special I would say with the 50% off offer its not a bad option if you want some decent grub(just choose a bit more wisely than me and don’t choose the poached salmon!)
