Went just for one drink! I had a good g&t and an amazing view for about 10 pounds! Worthy!

Visited on a few occasions, often not very busy. This place need to get off it high horse and listen to the paying public. Drinks prices far to high. Food selection very poor and grossly overpriced. An average view of Tower Bridge and The Tower of London doesn’t warrant the prices.

One of the best views in London, and it doesn’t have too much of a hotel bar feel to it. Only just realised the bar even has its own Unilocal profile(I previously checked into the hotel itself, which felt like cheating without actually checking into a room). A bit confusing as all high building seem to have a high level bar starting with Sky, and luckily there’s not a TV screen in sight … Anyhow, back to the views which were particularly spectacular on a clear winter evening. Bit chilly out on the terrace but beautiful nonetheless. The light sculptures at the entrance add an arty touch. The cocktails are strong, just as well they come in relatively small portions(I see from previous reviewers that I am not alone in thinking this). The first round was complimentary as I received a couple of vouchers when I took my niece for afternoon tea here(spectacular — highly recommended!!), so the final bill was slightly less painful than it could have been. Sadly, the experience was slightly marred by the staff. A hotel at this price point and image level(it’s a Hilton after all) generally translates into impeccable service. We had at least three different members of staff who didn’t appear to be aware of what their colleagues were doing. While our first waiter was familiar with the cocktail list, the second couldn’t explain any of the ingredients(whiskies and other spirits are referred to by their brand names, most of which are less well known) let alone provide any guidance. Did I mention how strong the cocktails are?! We asked for some nuts, but they had run out. We made another attempt and asked for sweet potato wedges which were not available that night. No alternatives offered … until some chips appeared at a table next to us — you can order those, off the menu, so to speak. We did! Still, would have been nice to be offered this choice when we were obvious in need for some carbs — upselling made easy! The worst was the waiter sent to take our payment — we hadn’t seen him before all evening and he came across as rather rude. He voided the first credit card transaction without giving a reason, then made another mistake on the second. He typed in the wrong amount and undercharged us by just over a pound … rather than explaining, or even apologising for his error, he rather rudely pointed(!) at the bill — not cool, leaving us with a rather disappointed taste after an otherwise highly enjoyable evening. Needless to say we asked for the discretionary service to be taken off the final amount at this stage.

This is located in the DoubleTree by Hilton. Go through the lobby and the lift to the 12th floor is at the back on the right. I ordered the burger and a beer. Fresh and good quality ingredients. Though for £25, you could get better for cheaper. The food is by no means bad at all — standard bar food, though on the pricey side. A big reason to come here is the view of the Tower of London, the Shard and the City skyline. I came on a cloudy and rainy day but it was still spectacular.

Smallest cocktail in history! Thought the view was grand, but holy cow, don’t order an after dinner cocktail. £8 for a tumbler of ice and a splash of liqueur — literally a splash, see the photo! As if that weren’t enough, the service was inattentive and full of attitude. Bit of an upscale money pit in my opinion but I’m sure you’ll want to check it out yourself anyway.

Arriving from Boston I was starved and the concierge at my hotel said everything was closed. I should have listened because searching Unilocal showed this as the only place open this late on a Sunday serving food. Nice atmosphere and great views though!

If you want a drink with a view and don’t mind paying 7 pounds for a bottle of Corona then this is the place for you. Its a real shame as I like the bar but in the last 18 months the service has gone down hill dramatically and the prices continue to go up the other way.

I don’t think I could love this place anymore than I do. The bartenders know their stuff and strive for perfection with your cocktails. And are also great in conversation. Stayed at the hotel and was there probably 6 times out of our 8 day trip. Can’t wait to go back!

Great hotel with a great roof top terrace overlooking the city, the Tower Bridge, the Tower. It seems to be one of the more fancy spots, when you look at all the people dressing to impress or the bar tenders trying to pass as Tom Cruise in Cocktail. Why only three stars? Too pricy, and too bad of cocktails. but the views make up for it — order a beer and you are good ;-)

Good cocktails and a good price. The view helps and the staff were fabulous in recommending cocktails — but middling as an experience. My yankee friends enjoyed the outside terrace, which was fun. I’d drink here again.

Went for a few drinks and the drinks were lovely — especially the Espresso Martini and the Flirtini. Tried my friend’s Mojito which was also really nice. Would like to come back and try the food as looked quite appealing. Also the views are amazing.

Drinks are quite epensive, staff are reasonably reserved but who says you have to go up to the Shard for an amazing view?! It really is a skyline view of London and it is truely breathtaking. My friends and I sat here staring out into space for atleast an hour discussing the different parts of this great city. Excellent place to impress friends or a date, aim to go on a clear day.

Logique…

This is not called the Mint Hotel anymore. It’s now the Hilton DoubleTree. But the SkyLounge is still the same and still just as good as ever. It’s got a nice atmosphere, a decent roof terrace with a nice river view and the cocktails are good, if a little pricey.

My friend brought me here to impress me with the view. He said he brings all his business clients there when they’re from out of town… AND I now see why! Amazing view of the tower bridge! best view at night in town. Also, their martini drinks are impressive! I highly recommend trying the mojito martini or the porn star(i don’t think it’s on the menu — it’s a passion fruit vodka martini with half a passion fruit lit up with bitters and a champagne shooter — it’s just amazing!!!) The hotel(double tree) is also a nice place to stay. I was there all week while working.

Ha! Not really feeling this place. Nice hotel and sexy bar but drinks were far too expensive — and then took 40mins to come! Considering we had another party to hit, this was particularly frustrating as Mr K hates to down his drinks. And I *HATE* being late. So there was friction, lol. We got over it but I won’t bother returning here — even though the drinks tasted fine…

God Save the Queen! With that shout out, let me get to the review of Skylounge. Went here today(have been before) and had a smashing time despite the typical British weather. Skylounge has fabulous views of the Tower of London and yes, a bit of the Thames, I said, A BIT of the Thames. Places like Skylounge make me smile brightly at first and then I notice my smile dimming when I see the trainers brigade being waived in. I’m sure Ma’am would not approve on today of all days as the event I went to was ‘Elegant’ attire. I’m not sure when jeans, trainers and ratty hair made it to that list. I digress… Skylounge is gorgeous, well laid out, has an ample terrace and the drinks were strong albeit a bit pricey £11.80 for a Pimms(tumbleweeds). Views gorgeous and the service was not bad. I would recommend it for a starting place to have a drinks night out. I like the layout because people are not on top of each other either and you do get foot traffic from the hotel which is always nice in my opinion. Flags waiving, anthems cheered… it was a lovely event in which to celebrate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.
