Photography shops are being hit hard these days. Gone are the days when every man, woman and child would take their 3 films’ worth of holiday snaps along for developing. These days almost everyone has photo printers and digital cameras and who wants hard copies of ALL their photos anymore when most people share them via facebook or flickr? Places like Snappy Snaps have had to evolve, so they now offer more photo-related products than ever before: T shirts, mousemats, mugs, calendars, bags, teddy bears, aprons, placemats, candles… but most bizarrely bed linen! Oh and they do still offer photo prints on, you know, photo paper too just in case you need that. They also offer biometrically approved passport photos and with the post office turning their nose up and refusing a photo booth taken picture because the background was the wrong shade of white, I came here to get one taken. It cost around 6 or 7 quid and took about 5 minutes to get it done. There was no trouble at the post office afterwards(apart from my disgust at how much they were charging me for a new passport, but I digress) and the unflattering photo will now be with me for the next 10 years on all international journeys. I should add, if you’re not happy with the photo they will take another, but I didn’t want to appear vain so just went with the first one they took.
