St John’s Wood Library

Although this is a small little library, it’s high street location in St Johns Wood is convenient for the community. The friendly staff make this place a lovely one to stop into. They have popular books and DVDs as well as a children’s section upstairs as well many more adult resources and computers downstairs. It is a great asset to the community.

Each week, I’m in search of new materials to read, I’ve tried going to Waterstones and purchasing a few books, but usually get board with them or finish it too soon to get my money’s worth. St. John’s Wood is the perfect place for me to go for a quick read or a novel that will last well over the week!
The blue awning outside is just as eye-​catching as most of their reads! There’s a huge non-​fiction section along with a great area for children to play or read in! St John’s Wood Library also has a wonderful selection of music and DVD’s.

One day I was early for work in the St Johns Wood area and I called into this little library to see if I could use the Internet to check my emails, and kill some time. The librarian said as long as I had my passport (which I did) I could get a guest card to the library, which allowed me to log onto the catalogue and the web for free. I couldn’t take out any books without upgrading to a normal membership card, which I would need to do with a letter stating my address, but I didn’t want to right then so it didn’t matter! The card also works in all libraries in the city of Westminster.
Although I was purely going for the computers, I got a look around the very small library as well. There was not very much choice, but I was told you could order books from any of the other larger Westminster libraries and they would be posted there.
When I went, on a Thursday morning, they seemed to be having a storytelling activity for young children (who’s section coincidently looked one of the better). It appears a good place for the St John’s Wood parents (or perhaps more probably their nannies) to take the kids to entertain in the friendly atmosphere for an hour or two.
