Absolutely beautiful, yes maybe not the biggest, oldest or grandest but a haven in the middle of the City…
The stained windows are spectacular and the architecture wonderful to adore.
I would suggest to anyone in the area to stop here, I would definitely again!

St. Lawrence Jewry was founded in the 12^th century. The original building was destroyed in the Great Fire, and was rebuilt by Wren in 1671 – 8. Charles II attended the reopening. The church was essentially destroyed again during the Blitz, with only its walls surviving. (There is a glass case in the entryway with an interesting number of photos, drawings, and remanants of both churches – very useful to really understand the extent of the devastation of the church.)
The interior is large and quite airy, with some lovely stained glass. (The stained glass is mostly clear around the borders, with color in the middle, letting a lot of light into the church.) The church was reconstructed in 1954 – 7, and is now closely connected with the Corporation of London. There is a beautiful chapel on the side dedicated to the Commonwealth.
The church is often open on weekdays, and also also ordinarily open on Thursdays from 1 – 4 p.m. thanks to the volunteers from the Friends of City Churches. There are also regular lunchtime concerts.
