I came here for breakfast today with a friend of mine. On arrival, the Guy behind the counter seemed friendly with a lovely & welcoming smile. We had all but one table to choose from so we sat ourselves. After this, he brought us some menus but no drink was offered at this point. We took a little while to order two Cornish pasties. My friend ordered a cheese and bacon one which they unfortunately no longer had, so we settled for two cheese & onion. The menu seemed quite extensive but the counter seemed quite empty in comparison. Whist eating our food, the waiter then told us about the Sunday roast they also offered that day. After finishing our pasties,(and clearing our tables ourselves,) we still felt peckish so I went to the counter to order two sandwiches. The chef made them without washing his hands and rubbing his nose and at one point even licked his fingers! I didn’t touch mine! I didn’t want to make a scene. So when the chef casually walked past and asked: «Everything’s okay?» I calmly told him that I’d lost my appetite. He didn’t seem to care anyway. When the bill arrived. Of course I was charged over £5 for the sandwich that I didn’t touch! So I explained to him(as politely as can be) what I saw the chef do. His reply: «So… What do you want me to do?» I told him I’d rather not pay for what I didn’t eat. So he removed it from the bill with a sigh and rolled eyes! I paid and no apology was given. I couldn’t believe it! Coming from a hospitality background myself, I was truly shocked by their persistent attempt to deliver a inhospitable service!

I went in to order a cake for tomorrow but the staff were quite aloof at first. When they finally started helping me out they offered limited options at high prices. The cakes looked all right, nothing special. But the staff appeared less than willing to help me out on short notice. The man I assumed to be the floor manager told me to go to Tesco and not to waste his time after 5 minutes. Just because I’m asking questions doesn’t mean I don’t want to make the purchase, silly. executive summary for the tl;dr crowd: I was neither convinced by the pastries nor the staff’s attitude.

This place is on the edge of an estate in Pimlico and not far from the station, on a small island of shops, Internet café, newsagent, etc. Its interior is great, very eclectic, and quirky. The staff are nice, seating good, service quick, and the food is very reasonable and nicely cooked. Most ppl go here from local businesses to get the usual Coffee and sarnies etc. but the hot dishes are very pleasantly presented and delicious. more to follow when I get the time to try some of their other offerings PS Forgot to mention that they bake their own pastries, pasties and bread(sour dough) and they are all delicious!

Wonderfully crafted sandwiches and good coffee. They also do cakes, pastries, soup and a decent full English but I mainly come here for the sandwiches. The staff are cheerful and friendly, there’s plenty of room to sit with some seating outside for sunnier days.
