I am a big fan of Polish food, i’ve been to various parts of Poland and I know whats good and whats not. I have been struggling to find decent Polish food in London and had given up, but then Tatra came into my life. A modern, smart setting and a warm host greeted us and tentatively, I agreed. We shared some starters of creamy herring salad, thin potato and cheese dumplings with mushrooms, dumplings filled with potato and cheese and Polish black pudding. All these were superb and beautifully presented. I would say the filled dumplings were slightly over-fried if I was being fussy. For mains, we have duck with the thin dumplings again, this came with TWO duck legs-yes really!!! I had the pork schnitzel with mash with creamy cucumber salad– this came with TWO pieces of pork too! And my other friend had goulash with a potato pancake and this portion was the biggest of the 3. All the food was great, again, beautifully presented, we did our best with the huge portions… I would have preferred 1 thicker steak of pork rather than 2 thin ones but that’s only because I was in Poland in the summer and this dish was still fresh in my mind! No complaints aside from we were too full and couldn’t finish our meals. I would also say it would be nice to have the pancake served separate to the goulash as it got soggy and crispy potato pancakes should stand proud by themselves! We ordered dessert despite our fullness and I don’t remember the others but my brulee was very good. Overall, I was very impressed, I liked the setting, I’m relieved to have found somewhere for decent Polish food and its close to Westfield! And I left extremely full of delicious food. It’s good value, yummy and in a good location. What more do you need?!

I joined a few friends here before going to a concert. Service was very good and shots(vodka) were an interesting addition. I tried some of the duck and I can only say it was the best I had tasted for a long time

What a hidden gem! I found this place through Unilocal and had never had Polish food before so I thought, «why not?» After taking my first bite, the next question that came to mind was: WHYAREMOREPEOPLENOTEATINGPOLISHFOOD??? It’s delicious! It was a quiet night at the restaurant and my boyfriend and I were a little hesitant to go in at first but we went in with an open mind and no expectations. Service: we were greeted by a lovely and attentive server. She gave us great suggestions on what to order because we had absolutely no idea. Starters: we ordered the Pierogi and Russian Pierogi because we didn’t know what the difference was. Both were great! I’d order both again because I can’t decide which I liked more. Mains: –Schabowy(Breaded Pork Escallops with Mash Potatoes and Mizeria) which is like a schnitzel pretty much. It was bomb. I’m definitely ordering that again when I go back. –Leczo(Beef Goulash with Smoked Pork Sausage, Peppers and Dumplings) tasted very hearty and homemade. Made me feel all warm and happy inside. Drinks: –We had a bottle of the house wine. It was ok. I’d probably shell out a few more pounds next time and get a higher quality wine. –After finishing off the bottle, we were talked into trying shots of the HOME-INFUSEDVODKAS! AMAZING!!! We tried lemongrass and ginger and they were full of flavor, potent, and dangerously good. We will definitely be coming back here again and I hope someone will read this review and be inspired to try this place out. This restaurant deserves more attention so please help SUPPORTLOCALBUSINESS! :)

I could not have been happier with Tatra. The appetizer I got(aubergine salad with cucumber, peppers, and garlic yoghurt) was one of the best that I’ve ever had in my life! The gołąbki was fantastic, and I’ve had a loooot of gołąbki. It’s a bit more salty and less brown-sugary than most of the versions that I’ve tried in the past. It was delicious. As a heads up — if you’re from the US, you may want to pay in cash. They do take cards, but my debit card wouldn’t work because it was missing a chip that their card reader needed. The waitress was fantastic, very friendly and warm. She wasn’t able to give me change with what they had on-hand and my card wouldn’t swipe, so she literally ran out into the cold and asked a group of people on the street if they could give her change for my 20. She was wonderful! After a discussion about where I was from and what I was doing in the city, she brought me a shot of their homemade black currant vodka and said, «remember this place and remember London» …I certainly will! Dziękuję!!

Ordered pork shank and it was perfect — the meat was just falling off the bone. The sides and the salad also tasted great and looked inviting. The service was good and the seating was comfortable.

Great little restaurant serving authentic and tasty food(I should know, I’m Polish!) I have not explored too many of London’s Polish restaurants but there was a LivingSocial voucher and I figured, why not? Safe to say it was a great decision! We arrive and were promptly greeted with a smile and show a table immediately(it was a Sunday night and there were only a few tables busy). Our deal included a shot of homemade vodka plus 2 course(starter and main or main and dessert). We opted for cherry and strawberry for the vodka. The strawberry was delicious; the cherry was good but did taste a bit medicinal — then again, I think most cherry flavored things are so I can’t fault them too much. For our food we ordered the 2 types of pierogi for starters(Russian and mushroom) and for dinner I had the duck while my partner had the trout. Everything was really tasty and reminded me of home! The pierogi were crispy with good pastry, well filled, and nicely topped. The duck was good although it was teetering on the edge of being too dry — the skin, however, was great and crispy and I know it’s a difficult balance. The accompanying salads and potatoes were very nice. My partner’s trout, he said, was very good and he’s quite hard to please! I don’t eat cooked fish so I have to take is word on it. The portion sizes were quite large so we didn’t have any room for dessert but we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Tatra. Prices are average but as the portions are quite generous, I think it’s very good value for money. The restaurant has a nice, cool, modern vibe and I’m looking forward to try more of the dishes. Service was very good and attentive, despite there being only one woman greeting, seating, taking orders, and serving. I think this would be a great place to take some friends and introduce them to yummy Polish food!

I hosted a birthday dinner here and I was really going out on a limb in this case because I normally don’t pick a spot I haven’t already tried before, for such occasions. This is a place that serves Polish, Russian and other Eastern European varieties of food. We ordered classics such as Pierogis(dumplings), Potato Pancakes with Salmon and Sour Cream, Goulash, Golabki, Beef stew, etc and we were impressed by the spread. Many of those attending were encountering this cuisine for the first time and found the flavours accessible and delightful. The restaurant also serves a wide range of beverages; of particular note are the home-infused vodkas and other eastern European drinks. The service was generally great except for a slightly sour note at the end when they charged a per-head fee of £3/head for cutting and consuming the birthday cake in the restaurant… there was clearly no alternative because they couldn’t provide a cake instead.

Best Vodka(homemade) I had so far! Pork Shank and Fish Pie for main course. The dumplings, the so-called Pierogi, are very delicious. A little bit too far away from central London, but worth going for a special treat.

Visiting my girlfriend for the week and she heard about this place. I had high hopes for some good pierogi, golabki, and vodka. Didn’t disappoint at all. We got a couple different pierogi — the potato and onion as well as the special holiday ones with mushrooms. Great stuff. Golabki was so good I wanted another but had to save room. We tried a couple different flavored vodkas that were homemade and we were smiling a lot after. Overall, I loved it and hope to be back again on a subsequent visit to London.

A good selection of dishes, large portions, friendly service and a taste card makes the price even more reasonable. Seems to be a popular choice of work groups. Definitely give this place a try!

At the bottom of my road is a Polish grocer. I’ve always been afraid to go in before as I’ve absolutely no idea what to ask for. This weekend, I’ll be marching in with Tatra’s menu and saying: «Give me everything I need to make all of this.» This is no Eastern European stodge, this, as Gregg Wallace might say, after wiping away the remains of the sauce from his mouth, is serious cooking. Ok, there is stodge. But well presented and delightfully cooked stodge. And, hell, I cn’t even call it stodge. The chef knows what he’s doing here, as regional classics are pulled together into something special, I feel ventured to use that restaurant cliché of hidden gem. On a cold and wet winter’s evening, this was quite possibly the perfect meal. Here was a wide a varied menu that playfully flirted with traditional Polish cuisine as well as your tastebuds. Dumplings and cabbage were present but stuffing them with pork and rice? Or serving with roast pheasant breast? Like you’re ever going to turn that down. For starters, the grilled goats cheese, warm pepper and rocket salad left a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, without being too heavy or rich. It could have almost done as a main course. The marinated herring, meanwhile, I’m assured by somebody who lives with Poles, was a true taste of the country. The presentation here was first class and the fish was cooked to a lovely tender level, while the potato, apple and beetroot salad that accompanied it would be a welcome addition to any dinner table. Choice for mains was tough to chose from a very tempting menu and they didn’t disappoint. The Leczo, a beef goulash with peppers and dumplings smelt like a comforting evening in a mountain shack, and believe me, I’ve had plenty of goulashes in various shacks, often halfway up a mountain in Europe. This was one of the best, and had the added bonus of no flights needed. Meanwhile, a trout with fennel salad balanced the flavours just right so neither ingredient overwhelmed each other. My friend was virtually licking this off the plate. Desserts were eschewed on the basis of being too full, but the home made vodkas were far too tempting to ignore and, guided by a fantastically friendly and efficient waitress, we tried both the ginger and pear vodkas. The latter was dangerous, insofar as it tasted like a refreshing palate cleanser or fruit juice. The danger was to carry on ordering round after round. The ginger was even better and left a strange but enjoyable tingling sensation on the tongue and sent us into the cold with warmth in our bellies. And at £30 a head for two courses, wine and vodka, warmth in our hearts as well.

I like Tatra for many reasons… tasty food, quiet atmosphere and attentive service. The pierogi(russian dumplings) were very nice and the bigos also… they offered us a complimentary appetizer, toasted bread and spread, that was delicious. Prices are alright and they also accept the Tastelondon card: 50%off the food bill, up to 6 people, so its a great place to share with friends

Walking passed this restaurant you might well mistake it for some poshed up bar but what a mistake to make. The food is fantastic, service fantastic, décor fantastic, presentation fantastic. A must visit if you live in the area or are passing through. A changing menu daily is a real treat serving proper hearty fare. Make sure you are hungry as the portion sizes are generous to say the least and no corners have been cut in the flavour department so expect full on old skool cooking, not for the health conscious, boring or unadventurous. Come winter time I reckon this place will be packed as of the nature of the food, able to keep any Polish hunter going for days! Oh and the delicious homemade complimentary vodka. A must visit.

I hadn’t been to a polish restaurant before, so I was keen to find out what was on offer. A stylish and trendy feel to it with a very classy feel to it. Leather seating, intimate feel and really nice bar. Food wise I felt it was basic and limited but everything I had I enjoyed. Being new it lacks a bit of atmosphere but hopefully over time it will become known in the area and that part will improve. Bar staff were perfectly pleasant and helpful but again they weren’t rushed off their feet so it would be good to see the place busy and them under a bit of pressure. Starters include soup’s, salad’s, dumplings etc so I guess this is traditional and then to follow I had a favourite food in the duck which was good. They also had various stew’s with dumplings and fish which isn’t my thing. A limited menu and I feel it may appeal to the Polish contingent in London searching for some home comforts. Had more of a bar feel to it than a restaurant, I will go back again as I didn’t really feel I formed an opinion on the food. This area now has a few good places to eat and drink and I hope that this is a welcome addition if only for a drink?
