Great pub, good food! I’ve been here a couple of times, and it’s such a nice place, it has the feeling of being a local place with regulars sitting at the bar discussing football as well as being a great gastro-pub place to meet friends/family. It’s a bit TARDIS like as you think it appears quite small on the outside but as you go further in they have a really nice back dining area and just before that a small area with comfy sofas and cushions. The food was really good I had the Halloumi cheese, pesto & Portobello mushroom burger, it was delicious and my boyfriend’s seafood linguine looked and smelled amazing. Overall the it’s a nice friendly place, a real hit with the families on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon, in great location just near the common.

My fiancé and I have been here at least 10 times and between the two of us, every item on their menu has been sampled. Delicious, everything. Generous portions. Cozy.

After a long walk from Wimbledon, on a cold rainy morning, we happened on this place by chance. It’s what I’d call a style over content place. It bills itself as «British Cuisine», and the full English breakfast(2 poached eggs, hash brown, bacon, sausage, mushroom, grilled tomato, toast, tea) was by comparison to the usual greasy spoon in Morden«nice». Very pleasant surroundings and service with a smile(albeit a little slow), but not memorable enough to warrant returning to given the effective 60% mark up to our regular.

Before starting, I should warn you that we didn’t have any food. We saw several plates go out, the fries looked great but as the previous reviewer mentioned — the portions did look a little meagre. We sat on the old sofas with animal cushions, by the christmas tree and fireside, with a draft Doombar and draft Heineken and thought this place is underrated. Friendly service, relatively quiet, homely décor, great place to go when waiting for a table in the restaurants nearby.

The place looks nice, very vintage and spot on in terms of décor. But unfortunately, the food really lets this place down. My rump of lamb was ok, but could have come from a school cafeteria. One of the pieces was almost 50% fat there’s a serious lack of quality control of what gets plated. The portion was also small one measly potato rosti to go with the lamb I suppose they wanted us to order sides and spend more, but our waiter didn’t ask us or suggest us to order sides. My partner’s monkfish in prosciutto was better, but again, portions were small and it would have benefited from a bit more on the plate to complement the monkfish. The taste was amazing though probably one of the most flavourful monkfish in prosciutto I’ve ever had. Overall, alot of gastropubs have gotten the décor & ambiance right. So in this day and age, that’s a given. But the food could have been better, especially since the menu goes quite ambitious with refined sounding dishes. Once you set the expectation, you have to live up to it.
