This is a great place for a drink if you want to do a bar crawl in Clapham. It’s very close to the tube, it’s at the start of Clapham’s bar strip and it’s very spacious inside and out. It’s not the sort of place you’d stay in all night as it’s not as lively as some of the other bars in the street and the atmosphere is lacking something that I can’t quite put my finger on. They offer food and there are some healthy choices on the menu but my Halloumi salad was utterly tasteless. The cous cous had no flavour at all — just a mushy mess. Eggs Benedict came with something that had the consistency of hollandaise but not the flavour. What redeems this place is that it’s 2 for 1 on Thursday nights, the service is swift and it’s in a great location. I’d drink in there again but I wouldn’t touch their food any more.

The Clapham North has a huuuuge space which earns it brownie points in comparison to smaller pubs of the northern London. The food we tried(fish pie and chicken dish) were delicious and they have a nice selection of wine/beer as well.

A nice enough pub with the usual range of booze and some decent pub food I have to give this place a special mention for allowing a group of us to set up in a corner and take over a couple of TVs, with full sound blaring. Having emptied out after the football finished it wasn’t a huge ask but still a nice one — a friend’s charity had a celeb competing on The Cube so it was great to be able to cheer them on in a group and with a pint in hand. If you ignore the fact it was pre-recorded it was even quite tense…

We were vacationing in London for a week and staying nearby. We noticed the Clapham North while we took the tube each day so we went for dinner one evening. It was a GREAT experience. Zoom Chung, our waiter, couldn’t have been more friendly. The food was super and the atmosphere was fun.

Good ol’ British pub food and good beer selection. Liked the inside and staff very friendly. Had a classic steak and chips and thought it was good. Nothing too amazing, but good. Great gravy though. Would have liked much more chunky chips though! Got under 10 chips which is not good in my book.

It’s my local and I have been happily frequenting this pub since I moved here in 2008. Friendly staff. Lots of events on, from live music to Six Nations rugby. And most importantly, my girlie pals and I seem to always meet good looking, friendly men here!!! ;-)

I really like The North, even if it does have an incredibly confusing name, ‘Where are we going?’. ‘Clapham North’. ‘Yes, but whereabouts’. ‘Clapham North’. ‘Yeah, but what pub?!’. ‘THECLAPHAMNORTH’, was a fun conversation to have the first time Dave A. and I went to this pub. But besides all that, it’s a good space with great bar staff and a fun atmosphere. The DJ generally plays a great mix of music — even if he did deny me any Kesha the last time I was there… It stays open late, which means it’s routinely packed, and there are loads of night buses on Clapham High Street to take you home if you miss the last tube from Clapham North(the tube station, not the pub). They also stock random spirits like Bundaberg Rum — which is an Australian rum brand that makes us all a little homesick for TV ads with polar bears…

Have been here twice now, and on both occasions, it got the job well done. Location is quite convenient as it’s literally just across the street from the tube station. Décor inside is quite spacious and classy as well for a local pub. Staff is very friendly — even when things got really busy during the Six Nations rugby game, they didn’t lose their patience and nice enough to chat with us here and there. Finally, beers are good and cocktails are solid as well. I also ordered chicken quesadillas, which got the job done, but could definitely be improved at the same time(e.g., felt very dry and came with very limited sides or sauces). Go for a quick beer or two for sure.

It looks better from the outside! Inside it’s a typical local pub, that gets busy as it’s close to a tube station. I’ve been many times and it’s ok, nothing special, service passable, but it just feels dated! Food is average, edible but just passable. It does everything but nothing excellent. I just feel it lacks love and attention. If you’re in clapham north it’s easy, but it doesn’t match up to its outside appearance. Kx

Quiet, spacious large local pub. The beer is okay, and the staff friendly. I hope neither will change now they’re redecorating.

Great London Pub for this neighborhood. Lots of space and friendly staff. We hung out here while watching the Euro Cup and it was quite an experience. They have many beers and ciders on tap. Plenty of TVs to catch your desired sporting event and outdoor seating to enjoy the show on the sidewalk that is a classic London neighborhood. Grab a stool and have a beer! Pip pip Cheerio!(yeah I said it!)

In the area on my mate’s birthday, we were on the hunt for a pint and a festive, friendly atmosphere. We passed some other spots on Clapham High Street, dismissing them as too classy or mature for the night we were itchin’ for. We popped into Clapham North to get a pint(or two) before pressing on, and before we finished our second, most of the place erupted into an 80s and 90s pop sing-and-dance-along. Now, if we were looking to maintain a conversation or spend some«quality time», this wouldn’t have been the spot after the music got going. But on this night, the tipsy carefree silliness and refreshing lack of maturity was just thing. Cos sometimes you just want to sing and dance along to Michael Jackson and a Grease medley. In fact, the only thing that might’ve made the night more fun is a pillow fight. Just across from Clapham North tube station, decent prices. Recommended for a Girls Just Wanna Have Fun kinda night(at weekends, anyway).

Nothing particularly wrong with The Clapham North IMHO, been here a few times for a swift pint. And usually that’s what it is, very swift. I tend to get wound up by the stange mix of people in here. Ok, so the North Clapham area tends to be where those fresh out of the graduation robes reside, that’s fine. It tends to be where people get off the tube when people want to go for that ‘Clapham Night Out! Yeah!’. That’s fine too. But for me, the combination starts to grate. Screechy 21 year olds pouting about their love life and lads from the home counties looking for a stare contest! Whaaaa? Stop it! Be quiet! There are MUCH better places literally round the corner which are more my cup of tea! See Landor and Falcon, for example.

Oh Clapham North. How you tease me! One minute your exceptional, the next you let me down in spectacular style! 2 Sundays ago i came for brunch with one of my friends visiting from the US. I live locally and i have enjoyed the breakfast/brunch here before, so i thought this was a good spot to bring my friend from across the pond. On this occasion, i was definitely wrong. I know you were short staffed, but it really was atrocious service. 20 minute wait to get to speak to someone at the bar, rude/flustered atmosphere and cold tea when it arrived(the brunch was actually quite good). The amazing thing was that it was only 11.30am and there must have only been 20 or so people wanting to be served food or drinks. An efficient bar manager could have dealt with this volume by themselves but the 2 girls didn’t seem to have a clue. I like the Clapham North and i will come back, but they really need to sort out the service around breakfast time. It was pretty darn poor last weekend

A lovely, spacious bar directly opposite Clapham North tube station. A great meeting place before a night out with friends. I stopped here to wait for a friend after work and enjoyed a fairly reasonably price G&T(for London, anyway — £4.10) while sitting in the window seats and reading The London Paper. There is an outdoor seating area so you can take advantage of the sun while it’s still here and there was live music later in the evening. The bar also serves food, which seemed a bit pricey and I can’t vouch for the quality.

I have been there a couple of times and I quite like it as it is a convenient meeting point(facing Clapham North station) and you can relax when waiting for your mate. A bit crowded on the week end but it is good fun an nice atmosphere! As people mentioned in their reviews good starting point for the night!

Now I have been on a few pub crawls but I have to admit I was pretty impressed with the pubs in Clapham. I used to live in the area and I have always loved Clapham but it had been a while since I had enjoyed the pubs and bars on Clapham High Street. For the pub crawl we all meet at Clapham North tube stop and began at the Clapham North pub. The pub has a great vibe and décor and we immediately settled into a few cosy chairs and began a festive Saturday. The Clapham North is a good pub. The drinks were good but the service a bit slow. It has a very chilled out vibe and I was able to relax and enjoy myself. As the night progressed it did get crowded, but we left before it was jam packed, which I’m sure it gets.

Good venue for an unexpected night out. Friendly crowd with DJ on weekend. There is a cover charge on Friday and Saturday nights after 10pm I think. Nice place for mid-week cocktails with friends when everyone wants to kick on.

Not sure if I went on an off day for this place, but I sampled the(apparently famous) breakfast here on a Sunday and it was pretty terrible. Poor quality ingredients — Tesco’s value white bread — that kind of thing. When the food eventually arrived after a long wait and a few trips to the bar to ask where it was, it turned up stone cold. The coffees we ordered didn’t ever show up and the whole place was moaning and groaning to the bar staff about the slowness and coldness of the food. So it wasn’t just us! Grotty surroundings too — I know it’s supposed to be cool, but it just felt as though we were plonked in the middle of a smelly bar that was still sweating from the crowds of people the night before. Which is exactly what it was! I wouldn’t recommend this place for breakfast/food — there are loads of other places with MUCH better food and atmosphere in Clapham.

I quite like The North, and it is my nearest pub. The beer is ordinary, same as you’ll get anywhere. The food is quite good though, especially The Clapham North Burger. I’ve certainly never noticed a strange smell in there, like my fellow reviewer below. It’s a hell hole on a Fri/Sat night. Unless you like the kind of thing. It’s full of trendy Claphamites, with ridiculous music going on. But, it’s fine for a midweek drink.
