Had a bit of a Christmas shindig here. Set menu. Decent price, approx £25 per and it was pretty basic to be fair. The whole joint is basic. Cheap renovation on a previously shoddy pub near Farringdon station. The food was ok. The beer didn’t taste great. The only reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because the service was very pleasant despite it being very very busy.

Looking for somewhere in London to host a group? Come here. There is no minimum spend or hire charge. Just a £50 no show deposit. I have hosted two groups here and both times have been brilliant. My favourite thing is their huge outdoor space; it’s amazing. They have so much outdoor cozy furniture, and not just standard wooden picnic style tables, comfy and cozy couches and lounging chairs! They even have some decked out sheds to sit in! If you’re inside you can choose from booths, a big cozy couch or benches. The staff are friendly and do a good job. It can get really busy but where in London doesn’t?! Have only tasted the rosemary chips(which were amazing) so can’t comment on the food yet. But would definitely recommend this place.

First of all, props to the staff for the good customer service! I ordered a BUNCH of food for takeaway and the barstaff cheerfully took my order and the chef even added an extra plastic container for the roasted butternut squash dish. To start off, the polenta crisps are OK; the avocado dip is nothing to write home about. The roasted root veggies are also OK but nothing to go nuts over. HOWEVER, the roasted butternut squash stuffed with moghrabieh & goji berries was quite tasty, as was the sweet potato, chickpea, pomegranate & tahini salad. I’d gladly come back to try the spelt, spiced aubergine, cauliflower & chickpeas.

A very average place, but our waitress was very friendly. We had the meat platter — very standard, and not memorable. Also, shared the salmon. The skin was on and crispy, but it wasn’t descaled! What’s the point of leaving the skin and making it crispy if I can’t eat it? The veggies that came with the salmon were the highlight.

Dropped in here while I was waiting for a friend. Friendly staff and cozy sofa groups. Fairly normal lunge style bar /restaurant. The place wasn’t very busy when I arrived(early evening in early Jan!) but the bartender was very welcoming and gestured I could grab a sofa group if I wanted.

SAUSAGES! Big, fat, juicy, pork ones with bubble and squeak and plenty of gravy. Just what Josephine B and I were in desperate need of on the chilly November afternoon. The food was hot, the venue was not. Pretty sterile and lacking in atmosphere. The waitress was friendly enough although the whole staff seemed pretty half-hearted. And who could blame them in a place lacking any real character… and only about a quarter-full during the busy lunchtime hour. I’m not sure that I’d choose to return to The Fence for after-work drinks as there are simply too many other more buzzing bars in the area and this place is so stark and sanitary I could imagine my wine would taste of disinfectant. I can’t see myself returning very frequently for food either, unless I’m in the mood for SAUSAGES! Then this will be my first stop. * I should add as a note that the waitress was actually pretty sweet and understanding considering she had to put up with JB and I exclaiming«SAUSAGES!!» every 5 seconds… what can I say? We were excited!

It’s an ok bar… nice selection of bottled beers in addition to draught. The décor is modern and clean which I liked. They have a large outdoor patio with additional seating and the interior area is warm and comfortable. The service on the one night we came in wasn’t all that great though… I went to the bar to grab some beers and though the bartender saw me, he just walked off to do something else. Like, I understand if you have tend to something urgent, just at least say«I’ll be right with you» or something, jeez.

Deeply average identikit city pub popular with local office workers, notably on their way home via nearby Farringdon station.

Mediocure food in a convienant location, with slow and unattentive service. Worth a visit if you have the time.

I can’t say I was bowled over by the Fence, nor will I sit on it with my opinion. The main problem with this bar it that it is devoid of an atmosphere other than a nauseating fog of pretentiousness and lechery. Looking at desperate forty somethings eyeing each other up with froth at the mouth is not how I like to spend my Friday evenings. The beer’s not great either. What this place lacks in atmosphere, however, it attempts to make up for in what must be the largest beer garden in central London. Nice, but you might as well sit in Hyde Park with some tinnies because size does not matter in this case. For a Fullers pub, it’s unusual to see only one ale on tap; even more unusual for it to be off. I find this inexcusable on a Friday evening for a pub under the Fullers brand. How hard is it to change a barrel at three in the afternoon?(It would have been Organic Honey Dew by the way.) Other options on tap were the usual European exports, including Peroni and a pleasant Franziskaner Weissbier. Music was unremarkable, as was the décor. In fact the whole experience was mediocre. And that’s the problem. It’s not that this place was a disaster, which at least would have made it interesting in a Noël Edmund’s fashion sort of way. It’s that it leaves one with such a feeling of indifference that you’ll probably forget about it by the time you’ve finished your morning’s ablutions. And who wants to suffer the consequences the next day without remembering the delightful events that caused them?(Don’t answer that question.)

One of the greater pubs in the area simily because of the beer garden out back, making it ideal for the Summer. Although the selection of drinks on offer is average, as is the food, this is a place to enjoy drinks with friends or colleagues because of the lack of other decent outside areas in Farringdon. It is right next to the tube too, so you don’t have to worry about catching a train and missing out on valuable drinking time.

The Fence is a pub near Farringdon Station that I would qualified as ‘posh’. The seats are made of black leather and it is quite spacious. It has a nice rear garden for the sunny british days ;-). The food is fantastic. My favourite dish on the menu is their mash and sausages or their beef burgers. They also serve more ‘gastro’ food. Their phone number is 2072503414
