The Golden Chippy

My husband and I were visiting in London and desperately wanted to have some good fish and chips. Luckily, we found this little gem right next to our AirBnB. We arrived and the owner greeted us. He made a fresh plate of haddock and cod for us and kept us company while the food was being made. Let me tell you… this is the best fish and chips you will ever have. The fish is so crispy, flavorful, and leaves you completely satisfied. This place is great and you will be glad you made a trip to Greenwich for it!

The Golden Chippy is fantastic, it was recommended by the our Airbnb host and I couldn’t have been happier.
The chips were crispy but soft on the inside, just right. The fish tasted fresh and was fried to perfection, with a nice and thin crispy layer of batter.
The service was also amazing, from the time we walked in we received prompt and informed service. Also, we tried the Abbot lager and were very happy, with it :)

One of the best! The food always is fresh and very good! And the people always very friendly! I recommend it!

The Golden Chippy was right in front of the hotel I was staying at in Greenwich. I knew my hotel location was handy for something other than the obvious. I didn’t try the fish and chips (is that blasphemy?) because I already had a good ol’ portion of it in the Dover ferry I took to get to London from France. Instead I ordered a quarter pounder like burger that tasted delicious. Don’t worry Golden Chippy, I’ll be back and I want that legendary fish and chips with mushy peas that you are most famous for.

Always fresh fish, with a crunchy batter, chips and friendly staff. Really good and makes me wonder what can make a fish & chips better than this.

My husband and I live around the corner from the chippy. It’s the best fish and chips we’ve had. We order from here at least once every two weeks. The haddock is especially good – we always get the haddock. The owner is very friendly! Definitely recommend it!

THE best fish and chip shop in town. Forget that place up in Kingsland Waste that gets all the plaudits, the guys at The Golden know exactly what they’re doing although the lovely boss says that he’s been in the business for 30 years and is still learning. Anywhere that can take an order for half a dozen teas at totally different strengths and gets them all spot on gets my thumbs up — and my mates’ too. Everything is freshly and perfectly fried, the portions are huge, and the service fantastically friendly. They’ll do batter thick or thin to your liking, or grill your fish instead. Whatever you prefer the guys will do their best to accommodate, nothing is too much trouble. The home-​made salad is amazing, full of garlic, chilli and herbs and is the only thing to have with the scampi. Room to eat inside or out, plus it’s licensed so if you don’t want the lovely tea there’s wine or beer to be had instead. The only trouble is if you’re off to the GDA dance cabaret afterwards you’re going to be too full to join in. But it’s worth every mouthful.

Friendly staff with that kind of family feel. Chips are grand and they dint charge extra for sauce. Proper !
