Quite a lot has changed at the Gregorian in just over a month since it reopened. I visited on a Wednesday night and the place was nicely busy. There was no sign of the food truck anymore and instead many of the tables inside where filled with people eating. It wasn’t clear whether food needed to be ordered at the bar or not but after a minute of looking at the menu a very friendly waitress came by and asked if we’d like to order. The food is of a high quality and service was quite quick so well suited for anybody wanting something to eat after work. The prices are reasonable and the menu choices are good but there is room for a bit more choice. Unfortunately the beer choice still lets the Gregorian down with a very weak selection in comparison to other Antic pubs.

Another bare and basic Antic pub like so many of their others. I found the ale range a little disappointing here, but only compared to the high standards they usually set. And they did at least have Adnams Fat Spratt which is a very good beer, good enough that you need not look any further really. I am guessing that the drunken clowns that were singing ‘dangerzone’ in the front beer garden and then also in the bathroom during my poorly timed visit are not a regular fixture. They fast went from amusing to annoying and I would definitely seek to avoid them in future. My rating is based on there not being regulars!

Under new ownership and it’s fantastic — great addition to our neighbourhood. Highly recommend the Sunday roast. Slight shame they don’t stock our local brewers but they have plenty else on offer. Huge step up from what used to be a somewhat ‘dodgy boozer’. Definitely a place for groups as well as families.

This pub has recently been redone by Antic pub company. It’s a great little boozer near to Bermondsey station but I felt a bit like they opened before they had finished redecorating. It smells heavily of paint fumes and appears rather unfinished inside. Also, they’ve cut down the bar size, which I think could be a mistake. I’m looking forward for the kitchen to be installed so I can return and hopefully give it an updated review!

Vast old Victorian mock Tudor pub, rendered soulless by the décor and the locals. No beer, the standard lagers, all the atmosphere of a Tesco Local at 3am but without the great range of beer, wine and food. If you have lived a bad life Valhalla may reject you and condemn you here to walk around the central bar for an eternity in search of the lost ambience. The best that can be said about it is that it’s a really good place to have a wee if you’re bursting when you exit Bermondsey tube. Bookmark it so you remember not to come here.
