I had eggs Florentines for breakfast but it was served very cold. That was so disappointing. Though the waiter was so kind that he asked me for a hot plate again but i had no time

While flat viewing around hammersmith, the estate agent recommended we have a drink in here while we think about our choices. He chose a good setting for a relaxed atmosphere to clear our heads. On first impressions as you walk in it appears you are now in some kind of instagram filter. With old wooden floors, very light pastel tones on all the walls, a shiny bar and old wooden tables with intricate laid cutlery it all gave a very positive impact. The bar staff have no uniform, which isn’t a must — have but it did look like these guys were ready for a night out. It did add to the relaxed vibe but didn’t quite seem to match the décor. We did not have food in here so I won’t review that, but for the ladies they have evening happy hours of 2 for £10 and for those not inclined they have large wine options. On tap they have their own bitter and deuchars IPA which I have only ever seen at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, so I was happy about that! If I move down here I will be sure to update this and include the food!(Potentially raising it’s star level, fingers crossed!)

Simply they ruined my sunny Saturday morning. The food was fine although it is a bit pricey for the portion. Sadly the waiter was inexperienced and I had to ask for stuff all the time. When my order arrived I noticed I didn’t get what I asked for and even my order description have hash browns that I didn’t get at the end! Ambiance wise was good but the service will get you not to come back again!

Beautiful gastro-pub by Ravenscourt Park. While we didn’t sit indoors the décor was really nice, pretty furniture, bright and fresh flowers everywhere. As it was beautiful out we opted to eat in the garden. The menu is upmarket pub food, with a decent selection and vegetarian dishes. I myself am not a veggie but my flatmate is and it was great that she had some options which is not always the case at pubs. I had the beef burger with blue cheese and caramelized onions and it was fantastic. It was cooked to order, medium rare and a great change from usual over cooked burgers at most places. It came with hand cut chips and aioli, the aioli had a nice kick to it and the chips were really crunchy and rustic, definitely not a frozen out of the bag. We also had the aubergine carpaccio which was fantastic and really tender, not soggy, and full of flavor. I wish it had come out first to have a starter rather than the meals but hey, ho. I had a beer, but they did have a really nice selection of cocktails. My friend had the bloody mary and it looked really good, served in a fun mason jar. There was table service which was great, hate getting up back and forth to go to the bar and was very convenient to just sit and enjoy the sun. Will definitely be back for some drinks in the sun on the patio and maybe some polenta chips… they looked pretty good.

Great service, the place has a very charming look, and I agree on another comment here earlier that it’s very suitable for a date. Try the burger — they put great caramelised onions on it!

Really great gastro pub with immaculate decoration. I’ve been for a couple of meals here and a couple of drinks. The service is always friendly, the steak here is really quite something. It’s not the cheapest but they do some interesting dishes so not just your classic pub meals. I’d say a great place for some good grub and/or casual drinks!

Great place for a Sunday roast but a little on the pricy side. The new(ish) décor makes it nice and bright and it has a country home feel to it with a nice garden at the back. I’m not usually a stickler for price but do compare price to value and it feels they’ve gone with Michelin Star prices without quite getting the finishing touches to deserve a star(a sticker on the door indicates they are mentioned in the guide for 2013 though). I most recently attended a birthday party here with everyone having only a main course, a few deserts and a few bottles of the house red to share. The price came to £45 each, which is slightly on the high side for what we actually got…

Tasty burger with cheese bacon and carmalized onions. Atmosphere makes you feel you’re more in a place for tea than a pub. Good burger though…

While visiting London for New Year’s Eve, I visited this spot as it was near the hotel where I was staying. The original place where I was going was closed, so I walked around a bit and happened upon The Hampshire Hog which was open. When I walked in, the place had a few other patrons and I asked the bartender how seating worked. I had dinner and cocktails here, choosing the eggplant curry dish as well as the hot buttered Guinness. The curry dish was very good, spicy, and came with rice. It was green curry, which I had never had before, and I appreciated thew new experience. The portion size was smaller than I’m used to, especially for a vegetarian dish, but I did not leave hungry. The hot buttered Guinness was the item that stole the show. This drink was so amazing that I had to try to recreate it once I got back to the States(I’m still working on finding the right balance of ingredients). Honestly, I thought very hard about going back but I was in London for a limited time and also wanted to try out additional pubs and establishments. I’d for sure try to hit up The Hampshire Hog next time I’m in London.

This place changes hands on a regular basis which seems odd because it’s a nice building in a good place and it always looks inviting. The current incumbents have made it look very inviting. Light and pale, like an American pantry. Promising. It’s close by, we have our favourites and plenty of great places to choose from, but curiosity drew us in for a quick lunch. A nice welcome, a comfy table. But when the menu came I gulped a bit. the prices! blimey, this place is obviously better than we thought, maybe one for a bit of a treat. Oh well, we were there now, let’s plough on. They have nice sounding brunch options which are about £9 or main course options which are more like £16. Or you can have a lunch deal of a cup of soup and a starter with a small glass of wine for £12. I worked out this means you’re getting the wine for about £3. So, not much of a deal. But I wasn’t looking for one. Just a quick bite. So we went for the egg benedict and the mushrooms on toast and vowed to share. And a bottle of fizzy water because we were being good! The food that came wasn’t bad I suppose. The eggs came on an average muffin but were soft and covered with a decent bernaise and a hunk of smoked salmon underneath. The mushrooms, what little there were were tasty enough. And the toast underneath was very good. But a mean portion nonetheless. So all in all an utterly unmemorable bite. Which would have been totally acceptable had it not been for the price. £9 for each dish? No chance. We were sitting at a table where we were looking at the excellent local Persian place Mahdi. It doesn’t look as ‘trendy’ but it’s a great local and for lunch they offer a perfectly cooked skewer of lamb mince or chicken with beautifully steamed rice and grilled tomato for £4.95! The brilliant Sagar Indian vegetarian spitting distance further offers a delightful authentic thali packed with beautiful stuff for a fiver. Again, it might not look quite as pretty but it’s a gem. And there are myriad other places on the same road offering reasonable food at a good price in hard times. The Hampshire Hog is flattering to deceive. To finish, the warm bottle of highland spring we received, without a slice of lemon or a cube of ice to make it a tad more tempting, cost £4. Hmm Forgettable food at high prices. I can see this place changing hands again soon.

didn’t dislike the Hampshire Hog, well, not much. But I certainly didn’t like it enough to venture back, at least not without very good reason. There for a business meeting on the recommendation of a couple of locals, I’d had a fleeting thought that I’d found a new local gem. The décor manages to channel Jamie Oliver and Laura Ashley at the same time, but the shabby chic rustic air of a country tea room is likely only to fool those who haven’t left zone 2 for a very long time. It’s a radio edit Mumford & Sons sort of place… The homely farmhouse look might come into its own on a sunny weekend, when I can imagine locals flocking to the lush beer garden, but on a random weekday lunch, other than a few Bugaboo toting mummies, we’re almost alone in this West London ‘Chiswick borders’ pub. Alongside a sanded down pale wood bar serving a reasonable selection of ales to the local Henrys and Jemimas, is a dining room and a ‘parlour’ with a few odds and sods for sale, nothing too risky, a couple of shelves of groceries and breads alongside posh ‘bits’ and locally sourced tracklements(or pickles as normal people refer to them) and the like. It’s in the dining room that you really start paying the price for this unfettered rusticania. If you’re stupid enough to buy your bread from the local pub then you deserve to be charged through the nose for it, but £2.50 for a few slices in the adjoining restaurant feels sharp in anyone’s book. It’s pretty good bread(unlike the acrid oil it’s served with), but it’s been a while since I’ve even seen a cover charge, let alone one that steep. This sharpness continues with the salads. You can have it unadorned for £12(really?!) or ‘add’ salmon or ham, allegedly supplementary ingredients in a salmon or ham salad, for £2 a pop. They’re at the upsell again with the sides, slightly more to be expected I suppose, but adding £3.50 for frankly poor chips is frustrating. The fact we are told that most of the mains need an extra something takes the average main course price past the £18-£20 price point and into the«it better be bloody superb» mark. So(finally) to the food… sadly, with the exception of that lovely bread it just didn’t achieve for either of us. «This is why people originally made fish cakes of course,» ventured my guest of his solitary desiccated puck. «it’s definitely the old, dry fish they couldn’t use elsewhere.» I was slightly more pleased with a reasonably sourced piece of ribeye from O’Shays. It was a nice piece of meat sadly marred by that capital sin of not being rested, arriving still taut and virtually still crying after it’s recent application of heat. The salted chips were too rested sadly and clumped together sullenly on the side. I don’t want to labour the point, but given that you can pick up 2 course lunch menus for £20 at many Michelin starred places in arguably more expensive locations, and would pay less than £9 for 2 courses at Zedel, this pricing for the level of quality delivered verges on the ridiculous. Lovely beer garden though…

Best cocktails in Hammersmith area for sure! I love taking visitors to London here or close friends for a tête à tête amoureux. After a few drinks, the love is flowin in this place … one downside is the kitchen can be a little ‘too cool for school’ attitude and a green salad means a few leaves chucked in a bowl … so a tip is to be specific with requests if you want something more generous on sides here. Breakfast is one of their best offerings, with an unusual mix of creative thoughtful hangover cures. Big tables means you can spread out the weekend newspaper — and love the homely country décor … Hampshire Hog is definitely on my list of neighbourhood faves to visit regularly. They’re setting a new and refreshing standard for Hammersmith and Chiswick areas. Thanks guys.

We went there today. From the beginnig they were very unpleasant to us as we did not want any drinks. I ordered pappardelle as a main dish(cost 13 pounds). It was far less than al dente almost not cooked and inedible. They did not care that I only ate a tiny bit of my dish and charged full price. When the bill arrived we noticed that service charges as well as Hope Donations were added without any notice. For the bad food and the bad service wouldn’t go back there.

I really like this place but the service is unusually slow. I have been here a few times for lunch and for breakfast and even though the restaurant did not seem to have many customers, the food took at least 30 minutes to get out. The last time we went we just ordered the porridge and the huevos rancheros and it still took 30 minutes. The lunch items were tastier than their breakfast ones. Ambiance is very cute and the service is friendly. Assuming you don’t mind waiting quite a bit of time for your food, this is a cute place for breakfast or lunch. They have a nice patio outside as well.

This won’t be my best review as I was a bit tipsy when I arrived and they convinced me to get my own carafe of wine(which was really nice wine by the way). I ended up going for a couple of starters for my main and if I recall they both were good(I think an asparagus/egg dish and a smoked trout dish. Both were good. We were the last to leave and a mouse had come through and ran about the place. I am starting to see mice everywhere in London though, so no surprise. My friend reported that their first pub is a celeb hangout and they are trying to create that over in the Hammersmith/Chiswick area. Unfortunately Colin Firth wasn’t there…

Came here for a birthday party on Saturday night and it was absolutely perfect, the weather helped as we were outside but the staff were friendly and helpful, there was a wide range of drinks, excellent cocktails, great sharing plates, and the garden was perfect. Inside looked pretty good but we didn’t really spend any time in there.

We had a lovely April’s Sunday brunch at their garden. The sun was shining and the food and coffees were good quality. Good for families, couples, groups, dogs :)… the inside part is really nice and cossy and the garden is just perfect. We will come back for sure.

The people that own this pub used to own the Engineer in Camden… I’m quite grateful that they chose the area that I work in to re-open! Came here for drinks one night and a roast a couple of days later. The drinks are excellent. I think my favourite thus far is a toss up between Grannie’s Embrace(a delightful winter warmer with Amaretto and spiced rum) and the pineapple and basil martini. Average London prices at £7.50-£8.50 each, I think they had a 2 for £10 happy hour. The food was absolutely phenomenal. My date and I had the pork roast on a Sunday, and it came with amazing applesauce and stuffing(and crackling! My favourite part!), as well as a third plate to be shared between us of cheesy cauliflower, roast potatoes, mashed swede and greens. A bit pricy for a roast but worth.every.penny. Also, the décor is very pretty, loads of chandeliers, and the bar staff are hilarious. I made friends and they started making exotic cocktails just for me :)

Stumbled upon this lovely Gastropub after a meal at Shilpa nearby. Went in there for a post dinner Prosecco & everything looked so good that we wanted to go back for a real meal. We called ahead for a table & were told that the restaurant was fully booked, but we could sit in the pub area & order from the same menu. The food was mostly great. The starters of polenta with truffles(Mmmmmmm!) and the lamb salad were gorgeous & delicious. The mains we had were the Ossobucco Risotto, whole sea bream & duck. The Ossobucco was tender & melt-in-your-mouth but there was a pinch more salt in there than I would have preferred. The Whole sea bream was ok & the duck was very good. For Dessert we had the Chocolate Fondant & Marmalade pudding. The Fondant was perfect, the marmalade pudding was alright tasted more like carrot cake. Overall I’d give it a 3.5 for food, but the service & ambience is so good & the meat is all free-range/organic that it brings the overall rating up to a 4.
