Having afternoon tea is one of my great passions in life so I was super excited to find out we’d be having the valentines afternoon tea special at the Hansom Lounge in the impressive looking st Pancras Renaissance hotel. There were a lot of great points about the afternoon tea — AMAZING service, refillable sandwiches and tea, being able to take away the desserts you can’t finish, a harpist etc. BUT at £55 + 12.5 percent service charge per person there are soooo many other better options out there(I.e. Sketch — my one true afternoon tea love). The cakes lacked flavour(mostly just tasting like sugar), the sandwiches were a bit stale, presentation was a bit meh and you were seated in the middle of a bustling hotel reception. While I’m thankful for my surprise(and hoping that my bf doesn’t read this) I really did not think it was good value for money.

High tea in England is just one of those rituals I adore. Some friends had attended an event at the Tavistock, not far away, and we brought our guest of honor here for some high tea. Despite the fact that this is in a large open area, we managed to find a secluded spot and have an absolutely magnificent high tea. 35 quid per tea service, and worth every bit of it. Make a booking ahead of time.
