Loved this place — simple menu, good atmosphere and solid service. It’s a great place to grab a casual bite and a beer. If you’re in the neighborhood, you should give it a try. Cheers!

I first found about this place when I passed the other location in Brixton Market, and instantly got food envy as plates of burgers and ribs went by. And while that location is BYO, it doesn’t take reservations, and so when I had two friends in town, I decided to make a booking at this Marylebone spot, which is also more central and convenient. It’s about a 10 minute walk from Bond Street station, and only a block away from Marylebone High Street. My two guy friends could not have been happier. They got the pulled pork served in a bun(you could also have it in a wrap), with sides of hot wings(i tried these and they weren’t really hot at all, but definitely delicious). I got the beef brisket burger, which was piled generously high with meat and oozed glorious amounts of juice. My side was the onion rings, which totally hit the spot. One of the best parts is the presentation. The sides were wrapped in paper and tied with string, and looked a little bit like a present or a party favor! So cute. The default water was with slices of cucumber in it. And the burgers were served on paper plates, and after you were done eating, you just put it in the metal bin in the middle of the table, which was immediately emptied by the server. I thought that was pretty clever. As this location is not BYO, we ordered a bottle of beer /cider each. They also had a selection of wine and cocktails on the menu. Their beers are local — mine was from Streatham and my friend had one from Brixton Brewery. The vibe of the restaurant is also pretty cool — it’s spacious and has rather high ceilings, but you sit on wooden tables with rickety benches, like the type you’d find in a brewery. It is pretty casual, especially for Marylebone standards. I do intend to make it out to their Brixton branch sometime, but I’d definitely recommend this place for a delicious dinner that won’t break the bank. For a burger, side, and a beer, it was under 20 pounds each. What’s not to love?

Rarely In London are you to come away from a meal without the feeling of meal dissatisfaction, being ripped off or both. Well this is the answer, ok not exactly fine dining but the price reflects this. It’s simply no frills, tasty ass bbq! Don’t let it’s simple menu fool you, I’ve never found it so hard to choose from so little, I finally much to my GF’s relief decided, it was beef brisket for me with a side of bbq riblets and sweet potato fries. service was spot on, constantly topping up our cucumber water without having to ask and taking the time to explain each dish. I loved the décor too, suited the place’s vibe, very bare bones keeping to the KISS principle and boy does it work! The food came quickly, Oh my lord, that brisket was to die for so tender and tasty, it came on a potato bun, a bun with mashed potato baked into it, this was a lovely touch. All the flavours worked so well together and I was worried about quality due too being in London and the price, turned out there was no need… it was spot on Will be returning every time I’m in the capital

I’ve been here a couple of times so far and it’s never failed to disappoint. With ribs, pulled pork and cheesy chips, why would you ever leave? This is not one for a quiet romantic date but perfect for large groups out to eat their weight in meat! I’ve had ribs, pulled pork & spicy wings. My top recommendation is the ribs… oh there I go salivating just at the thought!

There is a shortage of good BBQ places in London but thank god I found my way to The Joint for lunch the other day. I’d actually ordered takeaway from here from Deliveroo but I think the atmosphere and service make this place a 5 stars instead of~4 for plain old good food. I came with coworkers a bit after the lunch rush and were able to sit 8 at a big communal table with no wait. I ordered some messy baby back ribs, served with salad and onion rings, and MAN it was yummy. RIbs were tender, if a little fatty. The table also ordered sides to share like sweet potato fries and fried mac and cheese bites(nice to see that little bit of Americana has made its way to Europe). Go if you’re in the mood for some meat; you won’t leave hungry.

Yuuuum and messy! Just the way it’s supposed to be! No silverware people — use your hands! But watch out the sauce of the slaw is about to drip all over your hands… so don’t go there if you want to look sexy while eating. Then again — who says that’s not sexy?! I had the BBQ burger with slow cooked shredded chicken which I can highly recommend. Sometimes eating burger’s for lunch is just too much for that time of day, but after this one I felt absolutely fine, proper full but not heavy on my stomage.

I was really disappointed with The Joint. We went on a Friday eve and it was a disaster. First of all THENOISE. It was the loudest restaurant I have ever been in. EVER. Was it the acoustics in the place?(Definitely a contributing factor?) Was it the fact that maybe everyone was drunk from happy hour and came to have BBQ?(Probably?) Was it unfortunate that we just ended up with the loudest groups that have ever walked into a restaurant?(Probably). The place was so incredibly understaffed. Sometimes we didn’t see a waiter, other times we were hailing them down, I was picking up ketchup and mayo myself from the bar. Not fun. We waited 20 minutes to order drinks. Not cool. It wasn’t bad service, but they were just too few and too busy. The food? Cheezy fries were mediocre at best. Onion rings were ordinary. Hot wings were delicious but they weren’t hot wings. They were very sticky and not spicy – I actually thought they had given us the wrong wings but the bundled packet had the correct tag. The pulled pork sandwich was good(I really liked the slaw and bacon) but I felt it was too big and I was needing to put a fair amount of sauce on it to make it work. The sauce didn’t have enough kick in my opinion. We did have a special Mexican corn on the cob which was clearly the highlight. Not so sure I’ll be running back to give it a second shot – there are better BBQ«joints» in this city.

The other day, I joined a hilarious group of fellow food bloggers to try out a new BBQ place in Marylebone called The Joint. As a disclaimer, I was a guest of Kapranos PR for the event. That being said, I would have happily paid for almost everything we tried out that night. The Joint is a relatively no frills spot with communal tables, exposed everything décor, and a short menu centred on meat. It would seem that they’ve stuck to the KISS method(Keep It Simple, Stupid) and I can confirm that it’s working for them. Despite the short menu, it can be quite hard to choose which main to try out. I copied Alex S and went with the BBQ pulled pork bun with extra candied bacon. An Asian bun(replaces the BBQ sauce and bacon with spring onion, ginger, and chilli) and a slow-cooked beef rib round out the menu although the menu online seems to indicate this has turned into a short rib burger. You’ve also got the standard sides for any BBQ spot(fries, onion rings, grilled corn on the cob, and a couple of riblets). If pork isn’t your thing, all buns can be ordered with shredded chicken as well and there is even a veggie option! The pulled pork was excellent — tender juicy meat lightly shredded and served with a splash of sauce. You can add as much sauce as you desire from the bottles around the table — keep in mind one will have a bit of heat although the lack of labels makes it a bit of a guessing game as to which one it is. The brioche bun was soft, slightly sweet, and absorbed the juices and extra sauce admirably. In general, the sides were decent with the onions rings being perfectly fried although I found the fries undercooked and largely tasteless. I think that a little bit of work is needed here — I’m not asking for triple cooked truffle chips, just something that doesn’t make me want to stop by McD’s first. I tried the Figgy Old Fashioned and the a spicy cocktail I want to say was called a Scotch Tommy. The old fashioned was well balanced and while I didn’t get much of a figgy flavour, it was a great starter to the meal. The Scotch Tommy was fantastic with a good amount of heat from the scotch bonnet and yet remained surprisingly refreshing. I know a couple of the other cocktails fell a bit flat — in particular one that tasted of lemon dishwater — but in general the group was happy with the drink menu. At full prices, you’d be able to get a bun and a side for just over a tenner and for about £20 including a cocktail. That’s not too bad given the central location and the large portion sizes. I definitely see this as a great place for a quick lunch or a pre-drinks bite.

After enjoying my first BBQ pulled pork sandwich in London in their original joint in Brixton’s Village Market my expectations were set very high. Especially that more popular location in central London could be quite mediocre when it comes to the quality and still find demand especially in the lunch time or after work hours from the office crowd working in the Marylebone area. But all this fears were shuttered upon the first bite into the sandwich. The same bun, meat and veggies as in Brixton, watered with Electric I.P.A. make this culinary experience worth a while. Don’t get me wrong, you should still find yourself from time to time making the pulled pork pilgrimage to their Brixton cradle. However this location delivered not only culinary quality of its mothership but also serves as a nice hangout place with well supplied bar and plenty of sitting options(empty room downstairs!) — something that food market location could only be jealous of. Plus they take the credit cards which serves as a nice example how they improved their service among other things. The interior is of course pork-themed and that should not be a surprise. Long tables encourage serendipitous encounters with other pork lovers in London. The staff is great and friendly and it is gonna be definitely my favorite location to grab some pork in London!

The Joint in Marylebone, yet another quality fast-food and burger joint with a short and tasty menu, a good wine list and friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere — although with a slightly annoying music selection. I walked past this spot many times when it was still under construction, and about a week after it opened in mid October 2014, I decided to have a closer look at The Joint in Marylebone. In two ways, The Joint reminds me of Honest Burgers: it branches out from Brixton Market and it also has a short menu with a focus on meaty meals. Furthermore, it provides delicious food, just like Honest Burgers. It is located off Marylebone High Street, not far from the first London branch of Icelandic chain Tommi’s Burger Joint, another fast-food place I can only recommend. The interior of The Joint in Marylebone is pretty typical for quality fast-food shops in London these days. Dark colours, a lot of wood, casual atmosphere — nothing innovative or surprising, but also nothing to moan about. As this restaurant comes across as yet another Southern US inspired diner, the music matches the theme. However, I disliked the blaring, but as I was not there for the music but for the food, I don not want to be too harsh here. I was greeted very friendly when I walked in, and as it was a quiet Sunday afternoon, I could choose a place. Spontaneously, I decided to sit at the window, looking up and enjoy to watch the clouds passing by quickly on this nice and warm day. After browsing through the drinks and the food menu, I ordered an Australian Riesling and slow-cooked pulled pork in a homemade bun. The short menu also offers a little room for customisation, and I used the opportunity to replace the coleslaw with cheese. The very nice and friendly French waitress quickly approved my choice and after adding fries she went off to process my order. I was excited to find out how the Riesling would taste, as I cannot remember ever having a Riesling from Australia. The wine tasted quite sweet at first, but I quickly adapted to it and after a few sips, I must admit that I really liked this Australian white. A short wait later, a fluffy bun with a pile of pulled pork and cheese on top arrived at my table. The fries were a bit of a let down as they just were simple thin cut fries. But they were prepared well and tasted good. The pulled pork bun was a very messy affair to eat. When tucking into the soft and fluffy bun after giving the pile a gentle press, the great flavour of pork, cheese and all the other ingredients came together nicely and confirmed that a messy meal often comes with deliciousness. It took me a while to finish off my plate, and I was a little disappointed that The Joint in Marylebone does not have a dessert menu. While I support that restaurants focus in their core competencies, I still would like every place to have something sweet on the menu to round off a visit. Nevertheless, I really liked the food at The Joint and will almost definitely be back to try the short rib burger.

This is the recently opened Marylebone branch of the BBQ-meets-bakery Brixton institution. The venue is a refreshing addition to the Marylebone food scene with its exposed brickwork, birch long communal seating tables and benches with scaffolding-style beams and an overall east London feel. Each long table also holds a deep set metal ice bucket ready for your beers and wine bottles. The shoe string fries and BBQ riblets were each served in tied paper pouches. Very messy and hard to share without small plates. The shoe string fries were nothing out of the ordinary but nice and light, not oily. The BBQ riblets were delicious — very meaty, saucy and falling off the bone beautifully. The sauce was a good balance of sweetness. And a generous portion for £4.50. The BBQ pulled pork, the signature dish, was beautifully presented in a homemade, fig-infused yellow brioche bun; a generous amount of stringy pulled pork; bbq sauce; candied bacon; apple sauce; coleslaw and we added a touch of guacamole. Overall, I found the combination very sweet — the bread was sweet, the bacon was sweet, the bbq sauce was very sweet, the coleslaw was sweet, the pulled pork meat was sweet — it was a bit of overkill on the sugar for me. Fantastic service, and an inventive and daily changing cocktail menu. Many of the cocktails were served in jam jars which was also a nice touch.
