We thought we’d try a proper English breakfast instead of our hotel breakfast(that was included) one morning on our vacation. Why can’t one get really good eggs in London? And why do they have this fascination with beans? We got the English breakfasts without beans. They were ok. The staff was very nice. And the location is right around the corner from the Tower Of London.

I like this place. It looks weird and underwhelming when you first walk in. It has the tell tale signs of a bad place, all those small signs out front directing you inside. We didn’t have much of a choice as we needed a quick place to get brunch before going into Tower of London. I found this on Unilocal and the reviews were solid. So is my review. The service was prompt and good. They’re so friendly. I ordered a cup of tea with English breakfast and hash brown. It was really good! Nothing fancy, just the true English style breakfast you expect, done right. It reminded me of my childhood, eating this sort of brekky in Australia. I didn’t try the coffee though, as I’m particular with my coffee as it has to be hipster as generally they’re the best. The atmosphere is good. It’s bright, airy and the garden was nice. Best thing about it is how cheap this place is! I will definitely have to come back as the price to quality ratio is high.

Had the English breakfast and it was quite good. Everything came out hot and fresh and with the coffee or tea included it is quite a good deal. My son had the fish and chips which he didn’t care for much as the fish lacked flavor but the chips were crisp and delicious.

If you want a quick, proper breakfast this is the place. The English Breakfast was delicious and affordable. Highly recommended for the backpacker looking for a quick breakfast before exploring. Right next to the Tower of London as well. Very convenient.

The Kitchen @ Tower is located in a very convenient location as it is very close to Tower Hill underground and next to tourist attractions such as the Tower of London and close to Tower Bridge. The food was well priced as we ordered the early bird special of a ‘full english breakfast’ for 6.50 pounds. The smoked salmon egg benedict on a toasted bun was also very good. If you’re short on time and around for the attractions this is the place for you!

Really quick, cheap and delicious. Amazingly not overrun with tourists given the location!

Great spot behind the ticketing area of the Tower and attached to the oldest church in London. The food was decent and they had a good price for an English breakfast. Staff was friendly, and food was delivered quickly. When we were done, I decided not to wait for service and just went to the counter to pay. It’s all very casual and a perfect start to a day at the Tower.

I almost feel bad posting a 2 star review when others have had such inexplicably great experiences! We went on a Tuesday around late noon, the place was still about half full with the lunch crowd. After reading all of the reviews below we had good expectations even though it’s kind of a ‘tourist trap’ restaurant by the Tower. Let’s start with our server. He was particularly abysmal. Maybe he’d just given up after dealing with non-tipping tourists day after day. After our food was dropped off we didn’t see him again. Literally, he was no where to be found. Nor did anyone else check on us, and we sat for ages before going up to a random counter-staffer to ask for our bill and pay(we saw other people getting bills to their table so we expected this was standard procedure and waited). So no points for service. Let’s move on to the food. My friend and I both figured we’d be a little typical and get some good old English fish and chips. The place had good reviews so it’ll be good, right? So wrong. Coming from the Atlantic coast of Canada I’m pretty well versed in battered haddock. This fish tasted like pure nothingness. Sooooo so so bland and disappointing. The tartar sauce tasted like your typical grocery store variety and we weren’t even offered lemon or vinegar as per standard English custom. Chips(or ‘fries’ for us Canadian folk) were decent, but with our lack of server we had to get up, do a little sleuth work, and steal a bottle of ketchup from a wayward tray stand instead of getting our waiter to fetch some for us. As I mentioned, our waiter never checked on our meal so we didn’t even have the opportunity to voice a complaint. We paid(with no tip, sorry bud!) and left. Coincidentally, there was another Canadian couple beside us who we chatted with and they brought up the same complaints. Maybe the breakfast everyone raves about below is worth it… but I would seriously never go here again.

My girlfriend and I visited this small establishment before visiting London Tower. Excellent English breakfast(including coffee) for only £6.5 pounds if you manage to make it in before 11 am. The day before we spent £13 pounds each on a breakfast that wasn’t as good. The waiter was attentive, polite and welcoming. Excellent meal for an excellent price!

Friendly, bright, cheerful and inexpensive. If you feel guilty about eating a full English, there’s a church next door. Many of the patrons were Americans. This didn’t spoil things.

This is a great and affordable option. They use organic ingredients that are locally sourced. Service was friendly and food was perfectly prepared. They have a great English breakfast before 11am for 6.5 pounds! This is an incredible deal versus any other«real» breakfast in London.

We came here for breakfast early in the morning before our visit to the Tower of London. It was an all-around wonderful experience — very friendly staff, delicious and affordable food, and the best porridge we’ve had to date. After trying this porridge, we’ve sampled — in vain — countless of other versions throughout the UK and Ireland, and nothing comes close. Now that we’re home, we’re still trying to replicate that perfect balance of sweet and savory, creamy but substantial, and rich without being too heavy. Friendly service, very very cute and clean location as well as fair prices. Was here on a Tuesday morning around 11am and place was almost empty. Filled up during our stay. We had vegetarian and gill English breakfast, both worth the money and fresh. Not extraordinarily well spiced, but salt and pepper are on the table, right? It is a bright place with huge windows to enjoy what is going on in the little garden. Enjoyed it and if I lived here this would probably become my favorite café to hang out.

I came here with a group after a Power RIB trip on the Thames, had a pot of tea for one, I thought they’d got it wrong and given me a pot for two, but no, it was correct, would like to sea how big the pot for 2 is! Service was very good, probably as it wasn’t that busy, from what I saw the lunchtime food looked great. Has a fairly trendy atmosphere feel to it and is glassed up with a nice outside area. Great location close to the Tower Millenium Pier. A simple menu but next time I’ll try the food.

Where do I start?! The reception was amazing!!! It’s as if the owner and I were long lost friends from Thailand! Neither of us are thai but you get the point. The staff were so friendly and relaxed. I had the champagne afternoon tea was lovely… The range of cakes! Chocolate, ginger, lemon, walnut, coffe, Victoria… My goodness! I almost yelled«HALLELUJAH!» when the food arrived. I attempted to devour them all but failed… I must return and regain my dignity! I’d recommend this place ;)

A really nice place close to Tower Bridge, we were looking for a nice brunch place and ended up here. Nice and rather small place with friendly staff and a warm atmosphere, the menus are packed with goodies, as it was almost lunch time I felt like having a burger [how surprising] I ordered the beefeater burger and asked to change the egg to bacon, they did it and also free of charge– i’m impressed [along with my other usual request — no tomatoes: D]. Everything was served rather quick and the staff was very nice with high service awarness! The burger is nicely served, with fries and salad, and my friend’s english breakfast was pretty big. We also took some hash-browns as a side dish, yummy yummy!!! Despite the location the prices are fair and it’s not too crowded, had a really nice time in that place, shame I was too full to get some dessert too. hopefully next time I drop by.

Surprisingly good breakfast for what by all accounts should be a tourist-filled, overpriced café in sight of The Tower of London. But instead of all that, it’s actually a cute, quiet little café with tons of natural light and a very reasonably priced breakfast menu. I had the veggie English breakfast, which despite the pseudo oxymoron, was amazing. Eggs, beans on toast, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, hash browns and veggie sausage with coffee for £8.50. I wouldn’t go quite so far as to call it a ‘hidden gem’, but it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and desperate for a restaurant that isn’t advertised by a gent wearing a giant sign and shouting about chips.

London. Samstagmorgen.

Thank you, Unilocalers, for another fantastic find. Everything about this place is brilliant: from the staff, to the food, and especially the location and ambience. It’s homey and bright. Best of all the prices aren’t catered for tourists. Lovely spot and The Tower is literally steps away. Bravo!
