Just got back from The Lavender and had a very unfortunate experience. All I ordered was the seafood platter(for one) and over an hour later it was explained to me(after I asked) that they did not have a functioning grill for the night. Instead, they decided it would be better to improvise with«camping-type things» delaying my starter for what was an absurd amount of time. Why did it take so long to convey this message? Why weren’t my drinks(at the very least) comped? Instead all I got were excuses. The food itself, wasn’t all that bad. Tuna tartar with strawberries? Okay; creative I guess. Langostinos(prawns)? Small and meh. The manager swore up and down that they weren’t previously frozen, but I very much doubt this. You know that texture when they are; it’s unmistakable… The cured sea bass, was not just cured but completely dehydrated, so «delicately smoked» it was not in the slightest. It had the consistency of prosciutto that was left out all day and was extremely salty(no, I am not British — I think I have cuts on my tongue). There were NO oysters either. The monkfish«cheeks» were also a disappointment, bland, and not well assembled at all. All in all, it was a big let-down. I feel like once the stove went, they simply gave up, but to not inform me that my app would take an hour, plus not comping the two measly pints I had, showed a complete disregard for customer service. Shame shame. I said i would be back; the question is: when will I run out of better options before that happens?

The fish was fresh and fantastic. We did a 4 course meal and were not disappointed. The owner was friendly and made us feel like we were at his house for dinner. The ambiance is a cool combination of casual and chic. High ceilings, open space, eclectic wooden tables with mix matched chairs. It almost has a country farm feel. The wine list is small but authentic and overall we had a fantastic time. I would definitely go back.

We came here on a groupon offer of 6 courses. The food was really good, and in particular the lobster was sublime. The atmosphere was good too. Only downside to our visit — the dishes served in the offer weren’t filling(virtually a carb free meal!), but I’d definitely go back especially on a Thursday when they have lobster and chips special for under £20.

The Lavender has a new owner and is now doing incredible food in a neat combo with great service. The landlord Giorgio is super friendly and really couldn’t do enough for us. Drinks reasonably priced and the Italian themed menu is outstanding — great fresh fish dishes. Having been local for a long time, the new Lavender pub is a great addition to the Lavender Hill and wider Clapham Junction areas. Fully recommended.

The Lavender is in a great location 10 mins walk from Clapham Junction and is a good place to start with for a night out. Has a nice seating area at the front and the general atmosphere is great. I have only eaten their on sundays and the brunch menu is good as well as the roasts.

It’s not really anything special but the food was good and the staff and service was ok. Other customers were friendly and the atmosphere was good. We had a pleasant meal before we went to the Arts Centre opposite, good value too.

Nipped in here for lunch while looking at flats in the area. Had a steak sandwich and a Coke. The coke was flat and lukewarm. The sandwich bread was extremely badly burnt to the extent that most of it was completely inedible. The steak in the sandwich contained a lot of gristle. The mayonnaise that came with the chips appeared to be mouldy. If you fancy lunch, go to the Italian next door or the Pizza Express just down the hill, both of which are excellent.

Wow this place was disappointing. It has such promise from the outside… really nice and rustic feel to it, friendly staff. But upon entrance, we were bombarded with top 40 radio on full blast(Nnn-ss nn-ss nn-ss) and it felt just WRONG! The music and crowd really didn’t match the atmosphere for me. This bar/restaurant could be awesome, but it ended up turning into a saturday night club, which was not what the fam really wanted.

This is a fantastic restaurant on the popular Lavender Road in Clapham Junction, which is particularly recommended for vegetarians. All food is cooked from fresh, using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients so the menu changes twice daily, once at lunch and once at dinner. For the lunch menu, you can choose from a vast selection of fresh flans, tars, quiches, pies and amazing salads of lentils, chickpeas, fresh herbs — you get the picture. Come dinner, they have excellent butternut squash stews, as well as meat dishes i couldn’t possibly comment on. There are tables outside, so you can sit outside eating your delicious salads basking in the sunshine. Highly recommended.

The Lavender is opposite the Battersea Arts Centre and is great for a pre/post show drink. It is basically a posh pub which has a good outdoor seating area at the front. I have eaten here a couple of times but found it quite expensive for what it was. The last time I ate there a couple of our groups meals were cold and one of us was given the wrong dish so had to wait for them to send the right one which meant they started eating as the rest of us finished. This seemed very disappointing as we were all paying around ten pounds for our one course. Good for a drink but would not be rushing back for dinner.
